1. keep up the good work sisters you will be victorious
Avi ,   Israel   (10.14.10)
Keep up the good work and show the ultra orthdox fanatics that they can not and will not enforce their so called life style on the majority. The tide is turning they have gone to far and this will not be tolerated espescially coming a bunch of medieval parasties, who bite the hand that feeds them.
2. Let's see -- you can't sit next to a woman on a bus ---
Dorothy Friend ,   Tel Aviv   (10.14.10)
but you can physically attack one? Got it!
3. Agree
DM ,   Israel   (10.14.10)
The Haredim need to be put in their place. We're running a secular nation, and if some penguin doesn't like that, go live someplace else.
4. Once Mea Shearim was quaint
observer ,   Israel and America   (10.14.10)
Once Mea Shearim was a great idea and a somewhat charming anachronism where Haredi Jews could live their lives in peace. Now these same Jews are trying to impose their beliefs on the rest of Israel and they are doing so violently. The time has come to break this community up and no longer allow it to control the streets of Jerusalem. When a community starts destroying property, stoning police and subjugating women to the point where they cannot share a bus or a sidewalk with a man, that community needs to be brought back to reality. The best way to do that is to bring the 21st Century into their closed society. Laws need to reflect support of this. No longer can Mea Shearim be an enclave strictly for Haredim. Women and those who support them, should take to the streets of Mea Shearim and march as one on all sides of the street Women should sit purposefully next to men on buses. Women need to stand up for themselves or they will end up in burqas
5. when people in goverment realize?
efe ,   israel   (10.14.10)
that israel is a jeswih secular country, not a arab country and not a haredi country, when this posts will be end? there is no place to talk about this subject in democracy country. period.
6. This article is perfect for the gullible ones like avi
Esther   (10.14.10)
who love to believe everything the secular media write against haredim even though it has been proven that most of their stories against haredim are distorted.
7. To1Avi be victorious
Greene ,   Israel   (10.14.10)
Are you ready sisters? Now let s attack those who want us in the sea.
8. So Esther, tell us what is distorted here.
Brian Cohen ,   Judean Peoples Front   (10.14.10)
There is nothing halachik about forcing men and women to walk on separate sides of the street. What's the distortion? That you think it's "kosher"? Forcing women to sit separately has nothing to do with halacha. It has to do with stupidity and misogyny.
9. # 6 Esther
peter ,   a'dam NL   (10.14.10)
The "secular media" and the "religious media", the "left wing media" and the "right wing media", the "jewish media" and the "arab media"...they all print what suits them as 'news' and what sells newspapers/airtime. "Truth" is something subjective these days. Mrs. Avital Livni published her phone number on Facebook and made herself vulnerable. Israel is going through a dati phase/jamina ha kitzoni phase which contrast starkly with the Zionism of the 1950's & 1960's. The Zionist movement was made up of secular & religious, of socialist and revisionist, but basically secular people founded Israel. Don't change it into a religious state, a jewish democratic homeland acknowledged by its neighbours would be ideal.
10. ROSA PARKS WHERE ARE YOU NOW THAT ISRAEL WOMEN NEED YOU?
stude ham   (10.14.10)
this racist demand that women ride the back of buses in israel is a pure throwback to the worst that segregation had to offer in the US. the israeli government is not only anti-zionist but horrifically stupid in tolerating this misogenistic gender hatred. and by the way... there are no such things in torah or talmudic halacha as kosher buses.
11. only one error
Golan ,   Modiin   (10.14.10)
You cannot make this a gender fight. You cannot only have women doing this. We men need to join you (and you need to stop being panzies and try to "do it yourself" or you will lose. Not because you are not just but because you are not showing unity among the people. Haredim opposed to the "kosher" bus is also making an error. This is not about secular/religious but rather extremists/moderates!
12. Fight The Jewliban Now!
Sheik Rattle & Roll ,   USA   (10.14.10)
Where is the government? How could they let these religious wack jobs dictate to people where they must walk on a street or sit on a public bus. This would not happen in any other western country. If Israel wants to be a true democracy it must reign in it's religious nut cases and draw a line in the sand, however the problem is that some of these religious wack jobs are part of government.
13. My Eperience is
eliezer ,   jerusalem   (10.14.10)
I ride the 40 mehedrin bus twice a day. Some times a women sits in the men's section and in rare instances, and I do mean rare, men will speak to her in a very, and I mean very, nice manner explaining to her that this is a mehedrin bus, would she mind sitting in the women's section. Some times the women get up and go to the women's section and sometimes they don't. I have NEVER seen any seen on the bus, except for once when the woman started screaming at the poor man who tried to speak nicely. He quickly moved away from her as did any one else standing in close proximity I think women who want to make an issue here DO. Like I said, my experience over many years is that the men NEVER harass the women. The only exception is as I said, a looney woman started making a scene on the bus with NO provocation.
14. why does god hate women? Was he rejected by one?
josef   (01.06.11)
Avital Livni, please don't despair and hold on. The curses you are receiving are from people with a yiddish accent they have perfected in a heder, a yeshivah, after many years, under god's direct supervision..So, if god can curse women, men surely can do no less.; as they are blessed ! ! ! are they ???
