31. The year is 2018: Israel has permanent

borders including parts of Jordan, the Golan and most South Eastern Syria and Iraq up til Bagdad. We are in peace with all Arab nations. Israelis around the world are known as the Lions of Judah. Palestinians? That was ancient history.
32. Demand to end incitement and terrorism
Nurit Greenger ,   USA   (10.18.10)
The absurdity of the Israel is mind-boggling. Every Israeli who cares about his OWN future, in the State of Israel, must get clear answers to: Why is it that since the disastrous Oslo, with all of the agreements with the Arabs and ONLY the Israeli painful and fruitless concessions, Israel is NOT closer to "peace," and to "end to the conflict," and to greater security and world acceptance? Why were they made? For what purpose? And with all those agreements and concessions why is PM Netanyahu now back at square one or even below square one? The Israelis who are "managing" the country, behaving as drunk and as though they suffer from deep amnesia and carelessness of how they navigate the country! They have managed to defraud, to fool the [Lied to] nation and keep on doing so. By doing so they have dug, and are still digging, a hole into which they are keeping shoving the nation, slowly burying it in a heap of troubles, in all aspects, and from which it will be very difficult to come out if the nation finally puts at the top sane people with leadership ability who have the real interest of the country and its people in mind. The Israeli government is immature and has no clue how to run the country nor do they understand the needs of the country and the world in which they live. It is all AGONY with terrible heart burn! The very beginning is: DEMAND an end to incitement and terrorism.

34. Giving the game away in the first quote....
Johnboy ,   Sydney, Australia   (10.18.10)
"The Government of the State of Israel and the PLO team" ... well, there goes your thesis.... the negotiations were between the PLO and the representatives of the STATE OF ISRAEL i.e. the PLO was not negotiating with the representatives of the "national home of the Jewish people". So all the PLO had to do was to recognize that "Israel" was a "sovereign state", and that is precisely what they did, and that is **all** that they have to do. Bibi's dinky little demand is a new one, and just about as pathetic an excuse as one can find for spiking the negotiations.

NuritG ,   Bevely Hills USA   (10.18.10)
Where are the big demonstrations IN ISRAEL for the VERIFYABLE demand to end of incitement, terrorism and delegitimization. The Israeli people learned their lesson from the failures of Peres and Rabin and Olmert. IF they demonstrate for demand to end of all incitement and violence PM Bibi will be about to tell Obama, "you have work to do with the other side, when you are done, let me know". The American people are with Israel but the Israeli people are blowing it. They need to get out there and demonstrate for their right to live with RESPECT. And they need to do it NOW. No negotiating with terrorists in suits. No negotiating with stealth jihadis. They can use this excellent article as their script. It is perfect. Just being a journalist these days is not enough…mobilize the entire nation.

Really? Okay then let’s look at what I stated. 1) That Israel never demanded during the 1990’s that the PLO recognize Israel as a “Jewish State”. Can you prove otherwise? 2) In finalizing and obtaining peace treaties with Jordan and Egypt Israel did not demand that Jordan or Egypt recognize Israel as a “Jewish State”. 3) Israel has never demanded that any Western nation state or International body (ie: the UN) recognize Israel as a “Jewish State”. All three of my points are valid and you cannot prove otherwise ie: that Israel has made the demand that the nation state of Israel be recognized as a “Jewish State”. You see here is where you go off on a tangent, my post was never about whether or not the US recognizes Israel as a Jewish state or not my post was clearly about the point that Israel has never “demanded” that other nations recognize Israel as a “Jewish State”. Whether or not other nation states voluntarily recognize Israel as a “Jewish State” is entirely up to them. I would also point out that in regard to the US the actual official press releases state that the US recognizes the “new state of Israel” and “the Government of Israel” and not a “Jewish state”. See: http://tiny.cc/aetow and http://tiny.cc/wsqjs This is because the term “Jewish state” was used described the proposed establishment of what is now known as “Israel”. Once the nation state of Israel was formed it is known by its proper name in official documents. As I just pointed out the term “Jewish state” was a descriptive term for a proposed state which did not yet have a official name. To recap: Israel has never made the same demand (to be recognized as a “Jewish State”) of other Western nations and International bodies as it does with the PLO and you simply cannot prove otherwise.

41. Matty, You do not know what you are talking about

Under international law, the Palestinian Mandate - the land of Israel belongs to the Jewish People. This is why Netanyahu has every right to demand that recognition. The San Remo Resolution by the treaties of Sevres and Lausanne (treaties being the most binding under international law) made legally binding all of the palestinian mandate to the Jewish people. This was incorporated into the League of Nations and passed onto the UN charter, article 80. Only the Jewish people, the state of Israel, has any rights as what to do with the land as it is legally ours. Only Israel can contract or form a treaty as what to do with the land. Since the land belongs legally to the Jewish people, of course the arabs would have to recognize this - who else are they making a treaty with?
42. I am right-wing but this article is ridiculous. #8 is right.
Eliyahu ,   Jerusalem   (10.18.10)
This article is based on completely false premises. The PA recognized Israel as part of the Oslo accords. What this is really about is Netanyahu demanding that Abbas reject the right of return. Whether that should happen or not is a different story, but sloppy journalism is a waste of everyone's time.
43. #42 Wrong
Eran ,   Singapore   (10.19.10)
Do not delude yourself. Stop dreaming. If the PA already recognized Israel, why is it so difficult to SAY it like it is again. Isrel is a Jewish state. This is then a no brainer. If they dont say it, it proves something that you will not admit. We can wait 60 years more for peace to come.
44. Selling the rug
Commentator ,   Los Angeles   (10.20.10)
Arabs are so famous for attempting to wring additional concessions for what they have already agreed to that the culture has enshrined the tactic as "selling the same rug twice". The Palestinians have raised this to a high art; selling the same rug multiple times.
