31. Marcel: prophets and kings
Steve   (10.18.10)
When a writer identifies himself as a Hebrew prophet or the "king of Israel," it arouses my curiousity.
32. But "silent freeze" yielding no talks anyway, what's point??
Dr. L. Brnd ,   San Diego, USA   (10.18.10)
Why bother with any pretense of a "silent" partial freeze when 1) there is no chance - ZERO - that this is going to bring the PA to the negotiating table, since they demand far more than this, a total freeze even in Jerusalem, and 2) the only "negotiations" the PA now say they will entertain rule out recognizing israel as a Jewish State, rule out any compromise on '67 "borders" or land swaps, rule out any compromise on refugees, rule out dropping their idiotic "right of return", rule out Israeli security presence in the Jordan Valley. There is nothing to negotiate for that is of value to Israel. Wait if its politically useful until its clear that Obama's Democrats suffer a crushing loss on Nov. 2, then Bibi should issue a pre-condition of his own - EITHER Obama, Clinton and Abbas certify publically that the PA accepts "2-states for 2 peoples" - A Jewish State and an Arab State alongside, as Obama originally articulated, OR Israel will refuse to negotiate further with Mitchell or the PA, will renounce all Oslo and Road Map obligations as inoperative, and will build full speed whereever it chooses, with all roadblocks back in place and no VIP travel passes for PLO bigshots - except back to Tunis. No construction and no talks plays right into the PLO's hands - something for nothing, while they continue deligitimizing Israel and seeking unilateral statehood w/o recognizing Israel. A lame-duck Obama can be safely ignored and should be - the guy is a liar, is untrustworthy, and the critical security guarantees required in any peace deal would be worthless, coming from Obama. He's already double-crossed Israel on Iran.
