1. People who are offended by your people
Yokido Tamako ,   Tokyo, Japan   (10.19.10)
As a foreigner living here for 3 years, i was often offended by some normal israeli people. The more i learn about the people, the more uncomfortable i feel every day. Why alway"ani hozey"(i want )?why Always "i ...""I.." show the selfish and hostile to the foreigners? I love this country, i really don't like the people here!
2. Hate
ORA ,   Jerusalem   (10.19.10)
Who believes that with more police we can irradicate the cancer :hate? The education minister can be more helpful,by introducing in schools, debate lessons. To teach pupils how to listen to others arguments ,and how to express their needs.
3. well....
moi ,   ici   (10.19.10)
No wonder why they hate us abroad, and they are right, Israelies are not polite, have no manners, are loud, unbelievable selfish, no discipline of their kids at all etc....they hate eachother also, it is one of the most racist countries I have lived, and I have lived for a long time on more then 3 continents....about the driving, they take all their frustration out on the road....but leave the "Jewish" out of this article...Jewish...Smewish....this country is NOT a Democracy, only if they ever divide State & Religion then we can talk about Israel being a Democracy.....
4. Imagine being a native Arab in Israel
Steve Benassi ,   Silver Bay, MN USA   (10.19.10)
...hate squared.
5. Kaniuk clearly has no clue about what he's talking about.
Tahl ,   Ashdod   (10.19.10)
"Only in Israel, the word “Nazi” is not one of fury and anger"? Hmmm... I suggest Mr. Kaniuk should go to Europe to check the vailidy of such claim. He might be quite surprised of the results. According to recent poles, about 20% of Germans and about 30% of Austrians expressed some sort of sympathy to the Nazi cause, and some of them even longed for a new Fuhrer. Countries like Croatia, Hungary,.Lithuania, Latvia, and even France and Britain, are also crawling with Neo-Nazis. Not to mention the immense populariy "Mein Kampf" enjoys in all Muslim countries. "only in the Jewish Israel did the faithful forget that there was a Holocaust, and who perpetrated it"? If this issue wasn't so sad, I'd burst out laughing. Holocaust denial is prevalent throughout the Western world (and much more so in the Muslim world), including in those very countries where the most Jews were murdered. And revisionist historians like Irving enjoy increasing popularity. Never mind the usual self-loathing hot wind coming from this leftist windbag, I could live with that. What really angers me is his total distortion of reality, just so he could deliver two bombastic slogans at the end of this article. Looks like Mr. Kaniuk is in dire need of a reality check.
6. "nazi"
Ezra ,   Florida   (10.19.10)
Please see my comment on simlar subject about calling LIBERMAN a "facsist" It is a disgrace, to say the least.
7. Kaniuk is right
Israel Israeli ,   Tel Aviv   (10.19.10)
Thanks to the extreme Left, Israel is full of hate. Look at the people like Sternhell or Niv Gordon who call for the murder of Jews. And indeed the Left excels at accusing their political opponents of Nazism, for instance that recent "art show" about Avigdor Lieberman.
8. CONFUSED IDENTITY
DAVID ,   JUDEA   (10.19.10)
It is ironic that Mr Kaniuk, who writes for Ynet is so confused about his identity. All along our enlightend new Jews calling themselves Israelis, have done everything in their power, be it through education, the media, art and the courts to destroy the Jewish part of us. Now when they get to see the results off their fine Zionist culture, once again they will revert back to calling this a Jewish state. Anything wrong with the world ens up in tirade against the same thing they thought they could get away from. Mr Kaniuk is right about the animalistic behavior on the road, but more police won't change a thing, because in many ways the police is part of the same problem. Mr Kaniuk deserves to be respected on the road, but respect is not part of the same culture he and his generation established here, they thru out the baby with the bathwater, in sacrifice of their Israeli utopia. The use of the word Nazi is a sad thing, on the other hand not since the Shoah have we witnessed a state sanctioned destruction of Jewis communities. Although I do not abuse the guidelines set by Ynet I get censored at leat 50% of the time.
9. To1Yokido
ORA ,   Jerusalem   (10.19.10)
People here only like people who like them.Tokyo is a fascinating town, but people aren t either perfection.A friend who lost his way in Tokyo, had to take the first metro he saw,to find somebody,he could ask his way, because in the street nobody would stop,to listen to him.Time is money.
10. Babbling article
john   (10.19.10)
It's just another person babbling away about their views of Israel. Nothing new or interesting learned from this piece.
11. 2#, Yokido, come to Northern Israel and you will nicer people
Judah ,   Golan Heights,ISRAEL   (10.19.10)
12. Consideration of others is the first virtue ..
Shalom Freedman ,   Jerusalem Israel   (10.19.10)
The pot calling the kettle black. In vitriol and sheer hatred of his fellow citizens Kaniuk is no slouch. He is of course right about the lack of 'derech eretz' on the roads. This is a major problem. As for the incident in which he reports I have of course no information. But as a walker in the city myself I am frequently astounded by the rude and dangerous behavior of pedestrians including senior citizens. To cross in the middle of the road with the presumption that all must slow up or stop to allow this is the practice of far too many. Bottom line. Consideration of others is the first virtue of a civilized society. We must all work on this including the author of this article.
13. No 1 Yokido-san gomenasai
Dr Yeruham Leavitt ,   Kiriat Arba ISRAEL   (10.19.10)
I apologize to you and the people of Japan. I have been to Japan over 15 times. I am always treated with great politeness. Number 9 just wasn't patient enough. Whenever I am lost in Tokyo or another city I often don't even have to ask anyone. Japanese people sense that I am in need, ask me what I am looking for and usually accompany me to my goal, going out of their way. If we Jews cannot be polite to one another we should at least learn to be polite to foreigners. The Japanese are among our greatest potential friends and partners. We shouldn't throw the opportunity away. Yokido-san gomenasai.
15. To3moi
ORA ,   Jerusalem   (10.19.10)
Your post is a model for stereotypes. The people i know are just the opposite of those you describe. At this stage we are a melting pot,and you can find bad people if you look for them(depressing),and you can also find fine people .I prefere to look for the fine one ;it is more rewarding.
16. Emotive article Judgement Does the editor not use discern
Martin ,   JHB SA   (10.19.10)
This experience of a person is too provocative. It invite all spew out venom This is an unfortunate posting not needed and timing so inappropriate. Lets see some editorial control and discernment please.
17. Be healthy
Dr Yeruham Leavitt ,   Kiriat Arba, ISRAEL   (10.19.10)
I forgot an important point. I hope our foreign friends see this. We Israelis can be terribly rude to one another, even get close to violence over silly traffic disagreements. But we almost always end our fiercest arguments by saying: Be healthy! We can talk hatefully but we really love.
18. Yoram, maybe life is better outside of Tel Aviv
Clear Thinker ,   Haifa, Israel   (10.19.10)
There's no doubt that Tel Aviv was invaded by non-Tel Avivans. MAYBE the worst of Israel has now concentrated itself in Tel Aviv.
19. not all of the olds are angry of the youger
old woman   (10.19.10)
if i have the same event i would avoid to be crushed but i will be thankfull to god and smile
20. Oh, Yoram
Stegemann ,   basel, switzerland   (10.19.10)
it is so good to read your anger. It is in Israel like everywhere: We, the elderly people, with our sticks and spectacles, have a problem. You, with your wonderful ability to write, speak for us and Israel will hear us and that's as if the world hears us. From an old man to an old man with love Ekkehard
21. No Wonder
Khalid ,   The Netherlands   (10.19.10)
What is striking in this article, is the author astonishment at the level of hate he is faced with, in different aspects of life in a state which practices violence and hate on a daily basis in the occupied territories. It should not be out of the ordinary, it is just the bitter harvest of what zionists themselves have planted.
22. Let's take a step back...
vicfromphilly ,   usa   (10.19.10)
Let's just put things in the perspective here... Yes you WILL get a dirtry look or a finger from time to time and Tel Aviv is a stressful, and noisy town. But we WILL NOT blow up the neighbors house because he practices a slightly different form of Judaism, Christianity (or Islam).
23. TA & Kaniuk
Larry ,   P Alto   (10.20.10)
No doubt, Tel Aviv is a dangerous place to be a pedestrian. Drivers like to play chicken with pedestrians who cross on green lights. Motorcyclists, scooter riders and bicyclists are all capable of mowing down a blissful, or unaware, pedestrian. But Tel Aviv is the epicenter of aggression, seems like Y Kaniuk should know that. And he is an exemplar of the 'de-Judaization' of Israel; clearly he thinks the problems he describes are because Israel is too Jewish. I think it's because Israel is not Jewish enough, and there are also plenty of great people in the country.
24. Mate, you are being too hard on yourselves
Andrew ,   Melbourne, Australia   (10.20.10)
You want to know what hate is? Go for a drive around Melbourne or Sydney.
25. re Mr Kaniuk question if Israel is Jewish enough
Yardena Anat Even   (10.20.10)
Dear Ynet Editor In the Age of inquiry whether Jews are a fake people, Jews do not deserve a country - the antisemitism is rampant everywhere started by the Lefty moonbats in Israel who get paid and funded by EU anti semitic organizations i.e., the Ford Foundation for example just to name one, I feel Mr Kaniuk's anger at Tel Aviv traffic or police or the Govt is totally out of place at this time. with so much hatred aimed at Israel do we need another one to pile some idiotic incident that happened to him with a rude bus driver on Rothchild Blvd for the World to read and come to conclusion see... a Jew blasts his own people and his own country and finds terrible faults.. something that could have been avoided if he went to a shrink and shed his anger on the psych couch Sincerely Yardena
26. To #4
Steven ,   Rockville, USA   (10.20.10)
Benassi’ speaking of hate, nobody can match you
27. Its because people like you..
Shuki ,   Tel Aviv   (10.20.10)
People like you.. from your generation, the prices in Tel Aviv are so high, its because of the greed of the people that you have raised every one is chasing time and money here in Israel.. because everything is so expensive, people just cant sit around and wait. You planted this, now its your time to rip. BTW, I workd in high-tech..
28. t0 #24
Ausjew ,   Jerusalem, Israel   (10.20.10)
Listen mate I am a true blue Aussie born and bread. I commuted for many years across Sydney. I calculate that I have driven over a million miles in Sydney alone. For the last few years I have been living in Jerusalem. Believe me mate there is 10 times more anger and aggression here on Jerusalem's roads than anything that I ever experienced in Sydney.
29. #1 100% correct + a joke
Airborne ,   Jerusalem, IL   (10.20.10)
It truly is a shame. Yes I know all Israeli's have PTSD from war or terror but that is no excuse to treat people like dirt. It is not just from bus drivers but EVERYWHERE. Just look around you. The hatred has infested itself in Israeli society. I call it the "sucker syndrome". As long as you are not made a sucker that is all that matters. I heard a joke once. An Israeli (Jewish) farmer finds a genie who will grant him one wish. He tells the farmer that whatever he wishes for, his neighbor (Jewish) will get double. What does he say? He says, "Take out one of my eyes". Now THAT is a perfect example of the mentality here.
30. #7 what does the leftist minority have to 2 with it?
(10.20.10)
It is all of us together who create this negative attitude not just this group or that group...all of us! The sin of baseless hatred and the sin of being stiffed necked is one we have been flaming and encouraging from time immemorial. Or are you going to come back and tell me that it was the leftist side of the tribes of Israel that caused all of the problems in Biblical times! Really #7 give it a rest!
