Salma ,   Palestine   (10.21.10)
the two Systems are without feelings and emotions !
2. To #1
M. Hartley ,   Atlanta, US   (10.21.10)
Are you saying that there's no sense in checkpoints, unless one gets one's ass kicked or patted? How romantic of you! Actually, I expect the system to produce a lot of people missing hands.

Have you nothing else to do but comment You must be a very frustrated lonely old woman
4. #1 well said, Salma

5. Re #3
Andrew Brehm   (10.21.10)
She is an "oppressed" person with Internet access.
6. Palestinains are not rats
George   (10.21.10)
you treat them like they are rats or some specimen that has very basic intelligence or some prisoners moving in jail. Or even worse. While they wait in their long lines waiting to enter.. toot. One by one the machine lets them through. On the other hand the settlers move freely, with a nice airconditioned car they drive to their settlements that are deep in the west bank and back, no hastle. Why treat them different? Is it because one is Jewish and the other is not? If that is the reason then is this not racial profiling?
7. #6 you forget that this is an international border
Eric ,   Tel Aviv & New York   (10.21.10)
Therefore some form of id checking is normal. This is on par with what US citizens go through every day to get in to the USA and less invasive than what non US citizens need to face.
8. Re: #7
Apa ,   NYC   (10.21.10)
I assume the same checkpoints will be present along the Jewish-only highways going across this international border then? Or is it only a border when it suits you?
9. Eric "international" borders
George   (10.21.10)
I thing that's a bit of a stretch to call them " 'international' borders", when Israel's real Eastern borders are with Jordan.
10. # 6 No, but they are potential terrorists
factsconfuse   (10.21.10)
11. George @ 6, I've never seen rats sticking their
leo ,   usa   (10.21.10)
paws into electronic ID checking devise just to get through border control. My guess your comparison of Palestinians to rats, however dramatic, is not valid.
12. Apa @ 7, whatever makes people safe.
leo ,   usa   (10.21.10)
13. Palestinians should focus on stopping all violence
Israeli   (10.21.10)
and then there will be no need for any checkpoints.
14. so quick to criticize
SA ,   USA   (10.21.10)
All you people are so used to criticizing Israel about everything that it's a basic instinct. Why shouldn't there be an ID check? Does no one remember the regular terrorist attacks over the past decade? You think the Palestinians should just be allowed to cross over freely with no check? No other country does this! I guess these people think you shouldn't have to go through airport screening either. I guess now if there's no Israeli soldier they'll scream bloody murder about being "humiliated" by waiting in line to have their hands scanned--oh the human rights violations! Take that Machsom Watch! The settlers don't need to be screened since they're going to Israeli territory. If the PA wants them screened passing into its own territory, let them erect their OWN checkpoints.
15. salma you made my day
dafer ,   haifa   (10.21.10)
i didnt know weather to laugh or cry , but your answer is so true !!!!
16. #7 i didnt know americans are also occupying mexico
dafer ,   haifa   (10.21.10)
and if its an international borders ,what are those theives ( the settlers) doing on the other side of the borders ?
17. The problem is Israeli employers. Stop giving them jobs!
dan ,   USA   (10.21.10)
18. #6 border checks
dmitry ,   rehovot, israel   (10.21.10)
Please, less drama. Where the hell do you live that you think that Palestinian cars don't have air conditioning? Ridiculous... You wouldn't last five minutes in the Jordan valley without it. Most of their cars are better than mine actually from what it looks like on the #1. As long as you don't include the Bedouin as 'real Palestinians' and I don't (although a lot of them do have air-conditioned cars; the camel is becoming a cliche). The last time I went to the West Bank, I had my car searched on the way out and had questioning, etc... the whole lot.
19. I am not a techy but what if some
Sheik Rattle & Roll ,   USA   (10.21.10)
crazed terrorist followed some one that had the legit ID and chopped off his hand. Is there ways to thwart that? You are dealing with some crazed Palestinian terrorist so I hope the IDF has thought about that scenario.

Adam Whitefeather ,   Shawnee, Algonquia   (10.23.10)
"a way to minimize friction..." Question: does the UN have the right to cut off a peice of land, massacre the natives, and subjigate the ones left alive and declare a new state? oh... the Euoropeans allready did that in America. I guess you can justify anything by proclaiming “Manifest Destiny”
