1. MORE POWER TO 'EM!
Ayelet ,   Givatayim   (10.27.10)
2. "Students" vs animals
Adam Helberg ,   USA   (10.27.10)
I was sympathetic to them until I saw the photo, abusing animals to make a political statement. Who gives them the right to use animals in this way, and what values are they taught in all their education?
3. University student grants...........
Wise Saba ,   Israel   (10.27.10)
What is good for one segment of society is good for the others as well. If the university students are so gung ho to cancel the yeshiva student stipends, then cancel the grants to university students as well. There are a lot more university students getting grants than yeshiva students. In other words, let them put up or shut up!
4. Hypocrisy
Lila ,   Jerusalem, Israel   (10.27.10)
So, where are these same students protesting the fact that Arab citizens of Israel don't have to go to the army and don't have to do national service? Just plain self-hating Jews.
5. What do Yeshiva students contribute?
Hanna ,   Tel Aviv   (10.27.10)
So the government is giving grants to a bunch of men who do not serve the army, do not join national service, and who eventually end up becoming parasites in our society by having 10 children each, not working, and expecting their wives and tax payers to support them... University student represent the future of this country- they study, work hard, and have plenty to contribute. Education in Israel is not cheap, and these students deserve the grants more than any yeshiva student, who anyway will be getting donations from the many sponsors these yeshivot have. GO STUDENTS!
6. Good for them fight the charideem
Avi ,   Israel   (10.27.10)
Good for them, these bright young people who study hard, serve inthe IDF and go on to become productive members of society , while the charideem parasites milk the system dry without contributing a thing. BB must stand up to the ultra orthadox and their religious blackmail, sepearate state and religion
7. to Lila at 4
David ,   Haifa, Israel   (10.27.10)
maybe you haredi should contribute SOMETHING to society instead of mooching off my TAX PAYING shekels.
8. To "wise" saba, #4
Ilana ,   Israel   (10.27.10)
How do you know that "there are a lot more university students getting grants than yeshiva students"?. I am a lecturer in a university where most of our students (and my own kids) have to work to pay their tuition. Let Yeshiva students go to work too (not to mention some kind of national service, etc.). Let them EARN their money! Enough mooching off the govt (and my taxes).
9. Amen to Ilana!
Hagar ,   Tel Aviv   (10.27.10)
So sick of this haredic bullshit! Go to work, start paying taxes and dont use the state and its working taxpaying citizens for you benefit!
10. Secular Israel is on the ropes for in several decades
Al   (10.27.10)
the secular will be remembered in museums. Keep on stewing in your own bile....Stew baby `stew... You dont have kids...you keep dogs...you have no future irrespective of how many paper degrees you may have. If Israel is so that you cant stay there, well by all means leave and lets see if you will be able to make it in a world where your protexia doesnt mean dick....and where you will be signaled out as that dude with the accent.
11. #8 Ilana
Wise Saba ,   Israel   (10.27.10)
What I am saying is that if the government cuts the yeshiva students stipends, they should also cut the university students grants. In reality there are legitimate needs on both sides & the criteria should be toughened to make sure nobody cheats. I also agree with you that everyone should do something. My oldest grandson will be going into the army in March. All my nephews are also in the army.
12. # 9 I am not haredi & neither is my family..
Wise Saba ,   Israel   (10.27.10)
Everyone works & pays taxes just like you.
13. To #2: Animals have rights
HH ,   Jerusalem   (10.27.10)
only when protesting a Jewish custom such as "kapparot." But for such a noble purpose like this student demo, the animals too have to 'contribute their part.'
14. Govt. lacking in integrity NEEDS student pressure
Papamaneiros ,   Raanana Israel   (10.27.10)
A government with genuine courage and integrity would be able to withstand the ultra-orthodox extortion. Our government needs pressure from students to help them stand up for what's right
15. Oye! they're just roosters!
(10.27.10)
would the fascist animal rights folks give it a rest already!
16. Malachi 3:8-12 "Will a man rob God?
Norway   (10.27.10)
Yet you rob Me, and you say, "With what have we robbed You?"-With tithes and with the terumah-levy. You are cursed with a curse, but you rob Me, the whole nation. Bring the whole of the tithes into the treasury so that there may be nourishment in My House, and test Me now therewith, says the Lord of Hosts, [to see] if I will not open for you the sluices of heaven and pour down for you blessing until there be no room to suffice for it. And I will rebuke the devourer for your sake, and he will not destroy the fruits of your land; neither shall your vine cast its fruit before its time in the field, says the Lord of Hosts. And then all the nations shall praise you, for you shall be a desirable land, says the Lord of Hosts." Providing proper support for Israel's spiritual ministers and teachers is the very key to national as well as international prosperity (Isaiah 24:1-6, Joshua 1:8). Torah scholars are meant to serve as HaShem's priests, whose task will be to bring the nations back to the path that they deviated from , teach them about the unity of God and His Torah (Isaiah 61:6-11, Ex. 19:5-6), and to know and fear God. (Job 28:28, Prov. 1:24-33, 5:7-14). Peace will only come to the world when the nations embrace God's Torah and the Seven Laws of Noah.
17. Education
Michael Pielet ,   Boca , Usa   (10.27.10)
Amazing, the students receive subsidzed government education at Universities whose professors constantly work to deligitimize and destroy the state. Yeshiva, students at National Religious Yeshivas are the backbone of society and the army. Anyone who does not serve in the army should not be allowed to study in any state supported institution, including Haredim and Heloni leftists.
