31. Well, we'll really see where the truth lies, Raymond
Cameron ,   USA   (10.29.10)
"Democrats need to see Jews are not a one party voting bloc." So you say, but Nov. 2nd will be a real litmus test to prove that premise. Though you & Sarah believe otherwise, the record indicates the Jewish community are as firmly in the pocket of the Dem party as the black community is. Let's see what November reveals.
32. Weakened President bad for Israel?
Mark ,   USA   (10.29.10)
This article is ridiculous in thinking that the upcoming Republican tidal wave is a bad thing for Israel, because the US will have a weakened President? The President is but 1 leg in the 3 legged chair that is the US government. We will soon have a Congress that is much more sympathetic to Israel and to Jews in general. I personally am estatic that the majority of the electorate realizes that we elected a naive, inexperienced President at best, and an Islamist at worst. Haber is totally wrong in saying he sees Obama governing for 6 years. He is out in 2, which cannot come soon enough!
33. A shameful article aimed at decreasing
Robert Haymond ,   Israel/Canada   (10.29.10)
our confidence in ourselves. Mr. Haber can now be considered a paid propagandist not unlike those featured in Ynet talkbacks like "Matty Groves", Steve Benassi and "Graczek". This article belongs in Haaretz, its natural home.
34. Haber probably bets on the long shots at the track
Septimus Nova   (10.29.10)
Obama has always been viewed as anti-Israel. Some time ago, a stronger Obama nearly severed ties with Israel over a trifle. Common sense suggests that the stronger an anti-Israel President is, the worse it would be for Israel and Jews. But Haber goes against common sense. He opts for the less likely outcome, which is that a weaker Obama--despite being constrained by a stronger Congress--will be bitter and vindictive and take it out on Israel. This seems like betting on the injured, limping, 1000 to 1 horse to beat Secretariat. Haber might be proven right, but it seems highly unlikely. I think what we have here is an attempt by a columnist to think non-conventionally, to present an opinion not likely to be found elsewhere. But in attempting to distinguish himself, Haber abandons reason. If Obama is an enemy of Israel, better a weak enemy on a leash than a strong one unrestrained.
35. To: Sagi at No. 18
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (10.29.10)
You are absolutely correct. I can't wait for Tuesday.
36. #5 Judah - agree, but look at the timing - before elections
Jonathan ,   USA   (10.29.10)
just before the election in the US. I did not bother to read the article but its intent is obvious. The left is desperate at the prospect of a weak Democratic presence in Congress. Go Republicans! Go! Enough Democrat "change" already!
37. Haber
Michael Pielet ,   Boca, usa   (10.29.10)
Haber should stick to what he knows best, nothing. Israel is not an issue in the current campaign. However a Republican Congress and Senate will be more supportive of Israel than a democratic congress and will force Obama to treat israel as a true friend rather than an obstacle to peace. I suggest Eitan sticks to what he knows, nothing!
38. Folks - weak or strong doesn't matter
Gee ,   Zikron Yaakov   (10.29.10)
Odumba is out to get us period. And there is very little we or even the US Congress can do about it. When it comes to foreign matters anything short of a treaty the President answers to nobody. Those are the facts. So get set for a bumpy ride because once Odumba loses the House of Representatives he is going to react like an Arab and look for Jews to blame. We need to stop the entire 'peace process' until after that idiot is out of office.
39. 6 more years?
Golani ,   Vineland, USA   (10.29.10)
6 more years, please don't wish that on us (US or Israel). He was a bad choice 2 years ago and more and more people are seeing this now. He has not accomplished much in the positive direction in the US or for US, Israel relations. I wish him the best of luck, but not as President.. I wish him a long life and health, but as a former President. Speaking of health, as long as he doesn't take the entire health care system down with him as he intended to do.
40. #19 Trust me,here in the US I'm laughing outloud at your dis
play of ignorance ,   about this article!!   (10.29.10)
41. malevolent incompetence
David P. ,   Capitola, CA   (10.29.10)
you watch
42. VOTE FOR OBAMA..
Roy ,   Miami   (10.29.10)
..ONLY IF YOU ARE DAFT Obama the git says he promised change, but didn't promise change in 18 months. Sadly, what it seems he promised is change, but change that will only look good in 18 years; change, but change that can only be admired once its in the rear-view mirror; change, but change that only our great-grandkids will be able to appreciate, in hindsight, when everyone who voted for his sorry ass is dead.
43. Eitan Haber should retire to N, Tel Aviv coffee shops
michael redbourn ,   Arad - Israel   (10.29.10)
My mouth dropped when I started reading this drivel and I had to force myself to read on before I commented. I made a list a couple of years ago to save me the effort of reading articles by certain so called journalists. Ray Hanania Sever Plocker Ron Ben-Yishai Nahum Barnea - Olmert spin Gideon Samet - extreme left Shmuel Gordon - spin Yoram Meital - just dumb I shall now add Eitan Haber -Senile to my list.
44. What did you say Sagi?
Mark ,   NYC   (10.29.10)
Like 78% of idiots-American Jews you didn’t see even before he came to power that he is THE MOST dangerous thing that could happen to America. I wouldn't be surprised to find out that he is the product of still hibernating KGB and low life communist Soros. One must be totally blind to be hypnotized by hussein's teleprompter speeches with his blue-lips BS. What a shame.
45. Your message Rafi is full of...
Olga ,   USA   (10.29.10)
In your message you are trying to defend the worst American president using only slogans, labels and totally unsubstantiated statements. This is very typical for Jewish liberal progressive "academaim" who are the main danger for Israel and all Jewish people of the World.
46. #8 - impeachment ? Is he intentionally downgrading the US?
michael redbourn ,   Arad - Israel   (10.29.10)
There is growing feeling in the US that Obama is intentionally downgrading the US. He has ruined its economy and isolated every ally. Obama has said on many occasions that he wants the US to be like every other country and has apologised to the world for America's behavior in world forums. Check this out: Dinesh D’Douza’s new book, The Roots of Obama’s Rage, has a reputation that precedes it — in large part due to some advance buzz from Newt Gingrich and a piece in Forbes. Now that the book is on shelves, in a conversation with NRO’s Kathryn Jean Lopez, Dinesh D’Souza seeks to set the record straight about The Roots, and Obama. He was an active member of the New Party (read communist) just 13 years ago and he wasn't a student. Impeachable, I don't know ... but it sure feels like he's the Manchurian Candidate. http://tinyurl.com/nopapertrail
47. Criminalizing American Politics
Mark of Lewiston ,   Lewiston USA   (10.30.10)
Those anxious to see an impeachment should rethink. Obama has not pursued the criminal activities and corruption of the Bush Administration. He has said 'let the past be past.' But the Justice Department can act independently and move on almost every neocon from the past. Not a threat. Just a fact. And many "liberals have criticized Obama for not pursuing those criminal sanctions that have come to light from the last Neocon period. Of course, if you really want Joe Biden as President, persist in your desire for an impeachment. And Michael Redbourn - d'Souza claims and Gingrich emphasizes the channeling of Obama's father and anti-colonialist feelings. That makes both d'Souza and Gingrich royalists and colonialists, something the US was founded to abolish as our rulers. Royalists and monarchists are just fine in the UK. But the US has rejected that form of government. Even our tea partiers reject monarchy as an appropriate for for the US government. But if that floats your boat, fine. Establish your own monarchy, in Israel. It is likely that with the next election, there will be the start of a return to robber-baron era politics and robber-baron economies like in the 1890s. It should prove interesting as child labor and industrial safety become part of a distantly remembered past. But since China won't finance it, the robber-barons will have to figure out how they plan to finance things. Their current ideas of taxation and the appropriate levels of governance rival those of Somalia.
48. Legalized theft like Israel land grab
lydia ,   Brisbane   (10.30.10)
49. Aviva #6
John DeLancy ,   Alaska, USA   (10.30.10)
Exactly this. I couldn't have said it better, Aviva. Omayn!
50. Idiotic article
Richard ,   USA   (10.30.10)
The rejection of the Obama agenda can only be good for the US, Israel and the world. Obama is killing all three and rejection of his appeasment policy, his socialism and his capituation are essential if Israel is to survive, America is to remain a free, free market nation, and the world is to resist the Islamic threat.
51. Bad or worse
Paul ,   Israel   (10.30.10)
Okay, maybe a weak Obama is bad for Israel, but a strong Obama is even worse!
52. Haber
frank ,   israel   (10.30.10)
I guess we can stop wondering why we are having many of the problems we are having. With people like haber who honestly have no idea what he is talking about in power. Here is a man who genuinly does not understand the political structure or makeup of the US government. Here is a man who is so clouded by his left wing dealings that he has lost all sight of what is going on around him. Like all left wing types, they believe everyone else is stupid. Well Haber, you are an honest mistake and embarrassment because you have not a clue about how things work in the US....take your pension and leave us alone....
53. strong or weak
l&m ,   neverland   (10.30.10)
what's so bad about a weak obama? after all, his threatening ability will diminish, aswell as his possibilities to make outrageous demands. if american voters showed him: right on!, what would he do? go right on, of course, thinking everything is fine the way it works. nothing is fine, his team is quitting, the economy suffers, muslims laugh about his outreach to them. anybody want this to continue except the obami themselves?
54. a weak obama cant continue his 1 sided approach
zionist forever   (10.30.10)
A weakened Obama is good for Israel. When he has to spend more time concentrating on domestic politics because he no longer has Congress in his back pocket then the Middle East will have to move further down his priority list. In 2012 its how well he he has done in America thats going to be the main issue on if he gets reelected not does he manage to create a palestinian state. After the midterms he will have around a year before he goes into lame duck stage when he has to make election campaign his priority. Also the Republicans are more pro Israel and even if he doesn't need their votes in this case they may start using the Middle East as an excuse to weaken him further so in 2012 he will be weak at home and abroad. Condemn him for his one sided approach to these talks and rally AIPAC around the Republicans for 2012.
55. 6
zionist forever   (10.30.10)
AGREED 101%
56. Wounded animal is always more dangerous
(10.30.10)
Maybe Haber was thinking about ? But anyhow we cannot pray for the success of Obama..
57. this article is clueless
david ,   new york   (10.31.10)
no, a wounded obama is NOT more dangerous for israel, he is LESS dangerous. you see, obama hated israel long before he become president (long before he was in any sort of office). the only thing that keeps him from doing all the harm he wants to to israel is the fact that he looks stupid trying to beat up on israel when people in america HAVE NO JOBS. combine that with being chided by some members of congress that actually support israel. with a real opposition that has power, obama will be weakened and a weaker obama will be less able to do what he wants to to israel. (contrast this with a weak george bush in the second term who really liked israel but had to comprimise with those who don't because he was weak- hence, a more pro-arab stance)
58. Haber you, a poor looser
Patrick ,   Islamic France   (10.31.10)
Haber, Israel is the heart of nations, its survival has nothing to do with being the 51st state. If you don't believe it, then you should apply for American citizensip. Obama is a naive, Jimmy Carter type of President. In this post cold war world, we need strong leader and even if she is not the smartest, I have no doubt that Sara Palin would be a better president than this lousy Obama. No need to say that Sara Palin would be quite better for Israel because she has no intent to to be doormat for Islamic countries.
59. Obama did not only fool the Jews..
Roy ,   Miami   (10.31.10)
Obama has been a joke and deserves to be kicked out of office all his policies have failed. He gave the bankers billions of dollars which they pocketed they fraud has caused million of americans to lose they homes and jobs. Obama has done nothing to help the americans from loosing they homes or jobs.He has carried g.bushes foreign policy in Afganistan and Iraq nothing has changed there if anything he has made it worse.Obama fooled the american public with his speaches the people has seen him for what he is a fraudster and god willing we will kick him out. what a fraudster and joker.
60. weak obama
ed ,   reno, america   (10.31.10)
you should be praying that he is weakened otherwise he continue to side with the arabs and muslims. which means more pressure will be placed on Israel to bow to the demands of the palestinians. stop depending on others to strengthen you and return to your roots and start depending on G-D who brought you to the land and has sustained you thus far. it isn't the strength of others that has kept Israel only the grace and mercy of G-D has done it!!! in the tanach it says it is not by might or by power but by my Spirit says the Lord. He is where your strength comes from so stop looking to others and once again seek your G-D!!
