1. Israel is simply not big enough to take in every refugee
Kyle ,   Southpark, CO, USA   (10.29.10)
Israel does not share a border with any African country. Therefore, they had to first go through another country in order to get to Israel. So they should claim political refugee status in Egypt.
2. Muslim immigrants that will betray Israel
Elan ,   Toronto   (10.29.10)
Earlier on this year, the Egyptian government stated that Arabs/Muslim Eqyptians who immigrated to Israel will loose their citizenship. These muslims, while screaming to high heaven on their lack of civil rights in Israel claim that Israel should be destroyed because it's Arab land. These immigrants from Sudan and Eritrea will do the same as they are all in south Israel and are being given social services by the southern Islamic movement in Beduin areas, and once absorbed there - largely as second wives and such, will say, "oh no, Israel is brutally occupying us and that sudan was heaven and we need sharia and that we are palestinan now and throw the jews into the sea" These people must be sent to 3rd countries where they can be absorbed, either in the West or in Africa, NOT ISRAEL, have enough poverty in the native community without importing more
3. Israel should take them in front of the UN
rachel ,   usa   (10.29.10)
and shame all the corrupt African countries until someone listens
4. Kyle
John DeLancy ,   Alaska, USA   (10.29.10)
C'mon Kyle. Even Cartman knew that when the cats' lives were at stake, the only right thing to do was take them in. These could be Israel's cats. ;)
5. This could be really big
John DeLancy ,   Alaska, USA   (10.29.10)
I don't know who to tell this to, so I'll post it here and hope it doesn't sound too crazy to be posted. I've been praying for there to be more Jews found. I've also been reading Ezra and Nehemiah, because they relate to what is going on in Israel now. I noticed something interesting. Now as some background, we remember from Joshua that the Gibeonites were snakes who tricked Israel into making a covenant with them, because the Gibeonites wanted to save their sorry behinds. After the trick was revealed, the Gibeonites were attacked by the Arabs - er, I mean people of the land. the Lord did one of his coolest miracles - stopping the sun in the sky for 3 days - to save them, using Israel as His weapon to save them from their-and-Israel's enemies. The Gibeonites were given a place in society, hewers of wood, carriers of water. I recently read how centuries later, after the Exile, the children of Gibeon are right there building with the _rest_ of Israel, because real covenants are like that. Now I read that Israel has illegals, who want to be part of Israel. What if these are our Gibeonites? They make a pact with Israel, the Islamic Arabs hate them for it, the Most High works miraculously, using the IDF as in Jushua's day, and the sons of Gibeon stay faithful to their covenant with Israel - and too with the Almighty. We may be faced with the same choice they had in Joshua. If we do the smart thing and send them away like Joshua should have, they won't bother us any more (likely because evil people will kill them). But if we're dumb and make a covenant with them, we might have helpers as faithful to us as the sons of Gibeon at our side, fellow-laborers in good times and bad. What I would like someone to consider doing is instead of sending them away like a smart person would do, instead: ASK THEM IF THEY WANT TO CONVERT. I suspect they will - at least a number of them will. HaShem did miracles for those within His covenant. Maybe he will this time also. Okay - reading this back it sounds ... unreasonable. But maybe it's not. If this is posted, could someone please provide an honest critique? Thanks!
6. Show hospitality
BEN JABO ,   ISRAEL/USA   (10.29.10)
Arabs states should take them in, they have more than ample open room to house the refugees
7. Most are Moslem
Ron ,   OC, USA   (10.29.10)
And, they should be returned to Moslem states. These are not the Jews of 1939. Not even close. And, Israel is a Jewish state, much too small and poor to absorb tens of thousands of refugees.
8. exactly #1!
jenny ,   israel   (10.29.10)
Is anybody guarding Israel's borders? It sounds like people are able to just walk right into the country. The USA manages to keep people out and deport them when necessary. Maybe Israel which is a significantly smaller country should get some tips regarding border control....if not - I would love to see in years from now if Israel will even be a Jewish country anymore!
9. Even Switzerland has 'take back' agreements
Avi ,   Geneva   (10.29.10)
Many illegal immigrants, who mostly come for economic not political reasons, are similarly sent back to their countries of origin. And you can bet Switzerland has to pay money for the home countries to take them back (there are signed agreements on this). It is dishonest for "human rights" tear jerkers to imply that Israel is inhumane to send back their illegal immigrants. Israel has the right to live and to choose its inhabitants like any other country. Don't be fooled or bamboozeld!
10. Bibi, build the fence and build it now
Judah ,   Golan Heights,ISRAEL   (10.29.10)
11. #1, last time i checked, Egypt is in africa.
(10.29.10)
12. America and Europe deport illegal refugees regularly
Tahl ,   Ashdod   (10.29.10)
Thousands by the day actually. And you never hear the European or American media cry out about such 'cruelty'. No. This is a phenomenon you can find exclusively in the bleeding-hearted, self-destruction-minded leftist media of the Jewish state.
13. Netanyahu is like Petain
Gregg ,   Haifa, IL   (10.29.10)
Selling refugees to torturers SHAME ON YOU !!!!!
14. same agreements exist worldwide.
JO   (10.29.10)
so this "emotional" hard string selling ploy is not revelant. If you want sympathy try a different rout. Such deportation laws and agreements are very common. Most of these people lived in Egypt for several years before illegally crossing the border. And just because you don't want to go back does not give you the right to stay. Only true refugees/ asylum seekers with proven claims should be helped at all costs- as is the case in all countries.
15. A second and even sadder wall in Israel
Amy ,   Tel Aviv   (10.29.10)
If the Israeli system worked more efficiently, the refugees could stay, and the work migrants/failed asylum seekers would be deported (much like Switzerland, the US & the UK) which is fair and would reduce the numbers, but until the Israeli system improves, the majority will stay here and legitimate refugees will be tarred with the same brush as work migrants, which is unfair, and the international world will continue to talk about a lack of human rights here. The article is wrong- there are fewer than 1,200 new asylum seekers arriving in Israel every month, and the majority cannot request asylum because of the structure of the Israeli asylum system. Again, this is unfair, and the system needs to be improved. Finally, if there were 26,000 new Jews arriving, Israel would happily absorb them. Why is it claimed that Israel isn't big enough to hold 26,000 asylum seekers (over 70% of which are actually Christian)? There’s plenty of space here. What people really mean is that they listened to the fear-mongering tabloids and don’t want the scary disease ridden black muslims living near them.
16. Netanyahu, the merciless.
Rich ,   Toronto, Canada   (10.29.10)
Sending people to their deaths. The G-d of Israel can't be pleased with such sociopathic behavior.
17. I am ashamed
Yossef ,   Toronto/Rehovot   (10.29.10)
by these talkbacks...
18. if they are sent to a safe country whats the problem?
zionist forever   (10.29.10)
I am sure the immigrant right groups and liberals with some kind of a Holocaust syndrome which is why we were for over a year discussing the idea of illegals with their 1200 children. Even though they were here for the money nothing else. Nobody can bare to get rid of cute little children so they start comparing it to the Holocaust and comparing their situation to that of Holocaust victims. In this case many of the Africans are legitimate refugees and also many are not and when your getting 1200 a month you can't investigate each individual case. As long as we are not sending them to a country where their lives will be putting their lives in danger then I see nothing wrong with deporting them to those countries. Refugees need to find a place where they will be safe, they are not tourists who can chose the country they like most. If Israel deports them to an African country where they will be safe then other than the fact the refugees will be unhappy because they have to leave their new friends & the good life in Israel whats the problem morally? Israel has a population of 7 million. About 1.7 million are arabs. If you include the illegal Russians & other non jews probably another million. Druze & bedouin are in the hundreds of thousands. At a rate of 1200 each month at that rate it won't take long to start eating into the jewish majority especially if the left can't even bare to deport even illegal economic migrants on the ground they have children. Even taking the jewish demographic issue out the picture these people do not bring with them any money to contribute to society and most of them are unskilled. So we put extra pressure on the schools and social services, crime goes up and there is only so much strain you can put on the system before it breaks. The economy is harmed & taxes have to go up and services cut. When that happens everybody suffers even the people who are big supporters of not getting rid of these people. Its financially hard enough taking in the olim add large numbers of Africans we will be in real trouble. We can't do things the Egyptian way where they shoot anybody they find crossing into Egyptian territory but we can start looking into ways where we can get rid of at least a substantial amount of these people if we deport them to countries where they will still be safe. We need to put the best interests of Israel and Israelis first
19. illegal immigration
Ian ,   South Africa   (10.29.10)
Israel must take care of the Jewish community first , the Torah commands us to do so !!!! Deport them , build a proper fence and more importantly mine it and develope a special police force to shoot any illegals dead on the spot as Israel cannot just about support its own people hardly. To all the politically correct and arm chair liberals , I know you have foreign passports in your back pockets and millions overseas , so when you want Israel to be flooded with illegals I know YOU will be the first to run away when trouble stirs to your all white neighborhoods in Western countries , with of course a few black friends for show
20. African refugees
hebrew prophet ,   israel   (10.29.10)
So the Islamic slave trade still exists ,centuries after it was supposedly shut down,it,s the Muslim butcher of Sudan and his Muslim Janjaweed militia that,s responsible for this African refugee problem, no one else .
21. Migrants and Religion
John DeLancy ,   Alaska, USA   (10.29.10)
Hebrew Prophet: you are correct. I would further say it is not only the Islamists in Sudan but Islamists in multiple countries that drive people away. Israel attracts people because it's not an Islamic country but a free democracy. Amy in Geneva: you're right, people are afraid of disease-ridden black Muslims. I know I would be. Disease must be contained or it will spread and people will die. The same can be said of Islamists; if they are not contained, people die. But these problems are not caused nor spread by Christians. In fact, next to the Almighty, Bible-believing Christians are the best friends Jews have. They understand the Covenant and the Scriptures that reveal it. Instead of trying to turn the Promised Land into an Islamofascist state, they would just be glad to live where the Islamists aren't trying to kill them. The third possibility - that of new Jewish converts doesn't seem to be capturing anyone else's imagination, so I'll stop harping on it. :p There is no "politically correct" way to screen based on religion. The world is either too intimidated by Muslims (or too Islamified) to see or admit their danger; they would accuse Israel of the worst discrimination for just wanting to survive. The loyalty oath might work; Christians would be truthful - and would support the Jewish nation, while some Muslims would be honest - and outraged at the concept of saying they support a Jewish nation. But other Muslims would use taqqiya (i.e. LIE). So indiscriminate deportation might be the only safe decision. I don't like it - it deprives Israel of helpers to keep them safe from the danger. Last note from me (I'll keep reading so keep posting! I just don't have anything more that's helpful): for the people who keep saying "we don't have the resources," do you believe in _The Lord, who will see to it_ (The Lord Provides)? I do; the Almighty promised to meet Israel's needs, and He will do so.
