1. This may not be true! Dont't trust them.
Daniel ,   Israel   (11.02.10)
2. Palestinians abused in Shin Bet facility
split ,   US   (11.02.10)
No kiddin' ,...
3. Poor detainees !!!
Charles ,   Petach Tikva   (11.02.10)
They probably want a five star hotel ? Do they think that as suspected terrorists they should be treated as if they were honorable citizens ? And of course , testimonies of those who were arrested are "objective" and we have to believe them . Maybe that some were innocent , that's possible , but how to know it before interrogations have taken place ?
4. Hats Off To B'Tselem.
Salma ,   Palestine   (11.02.10)
Gilad Shalit is lucky he is not in the hands of Shin Bet. It's a disgrace indeed, it's so hard ... can't stand Shin Bet .
5. What About Gilad Shalit's Rights?
Cynthia ,   USA   (11.02.10)
Gilad was kidnapped four years ago and sits isolated without one single visit from the Red Cross. We know nothing about the conditions he's subjected to. We only see Palestinians mocking his captivity. When will B'Tselem or Hamoked Center express humanitarian concern and work for the release of this one Israeli soldier? Shame on them for not speaking out against his inhumane treatment.
6. what if they were arrestees, not detainees
observer   (11.02.10)
7. 'disgraceful hygienic conditions'
Avi Stein ,   Tel Aviv   (11.02.10)
Sure it is if you work for btselem and live in Ramat Aviv, but the palestinians found it quite luxurious..
8. Who finances B'Tselem?
Terry ,   Eilat - Israel   (11.02.10)
Foreign-funded anti-Israel propagandists - the sole reason for their existence is to slander Israel. Forget the human rights, that's not their real concern. These groups should be investigated, their tax-exempt status revoked, they should be required to register as foreign agents.
9. Disgraceful conditions?
Madeleine ,   Israel   (11.02.10)
First, B'Tselem's report is based solely on detainees' testimonies. Yeh, well, we sure know the Arabs' penchant for lies and distortion. Second, we all know what would happen to an Israeli caught by the Arabs, that is, if they don't kill or mutilate them straight off. These detainees aren't worth shedding one tear over. Rather shed tears for our boys who have to face the dangers the Palestinians pose to them on a daily basis. As for Salma "not standing"shin bet - speaking from experience are you, Salma? Maybe you mean that it's the thought of shin bet you can't stand. I strongly recommend you keep out of their way. We really don't like many of your postings!
10. The other side of B'Tselem: the brutal Palestinians
Brian Cohen ,   Judean Peoples Front   (11.02.10)
From a B'Tselem report: This is what the Palestinians do to themselves. Israel has nothing to do with the following paragraph quoted directly from a B'Tselem report: "In 2007, at least 353 Palestinians were killed, 349 of them in the Strip, and thousands were injured, in the fighting between the [Palestinian] factions. B'Tselem's figures indicate that at least 86 of the dead, 23 of them children, were passersby and were killed during street fighting or from gunfire during demonstrations." However, B'Tselem spends a disproportionate amount of its time fighting Israel. Why? Because they get nowhere fighting the Palestinian Authority and Hamas. The Arab League doesn't care, the UN doesn't care, the EU doesn't care. Against Israel they can actually get some change for the better. With their own people, the case is hopeless.
11. To Terry # 8
Ricardo Macher ,   Karnei Shomron IL   (11.02.10)
Dear Terry, I usually agree with you, just that inj this case you are being lenient with B'Tselem, they don't act "like" foreirgn agents. They are cheap people bought by small money and should be considered TRAITORS!
12. Oh dear... poor prisoners...
Ariella ,   Jerusalem   (11.02.10)
I didnt realize that criminals were entitled to a luxury prison, I always thought that prison was not a nice place to be and befits someone who has committed a crime... But sersiouly, what saddens me more is the fact that these poor arabs are being called "Palestinians". Come on guys, they are already in jail, why insult them further by calling them a name that means "Philistine"?? Thats really going too far, I think. They are only just coming to grips with the consequences of their actions - why insult them further?
13. If they were not tortured israel could prove it
ivan ,   haifa   (11.02.10)
It´s too simple to put a camera giving human rights NGO´S the opportunity to watch prisoners 24 hours, if israel does not do it to fight the claims there is a reason.
14. I was going to write the same, Cynthia.
Robert Haymond ,   Israel/Canada   (11.02.10)
These socalled human rights' organizations care not a twit about Jews deprived of rights, only the alleged deprivation of rights of Palestinians, many of whom are terrorists or terrorist sympathizers. when these two organizations complain to the UN about the abrogation of rights and violations by Hamas against Gilad Schalit, maybe they will achieve some credibility.
15. Only Palestinians?
Simon ,   USA   (11.02.10)
Why is B'Tselem not concerned about anyone detained by the Shin Bet or Israeli Police, who suffer these abuses? are Jews not HUMANS, that have HUMAN RIGHTS?
16. #11 Ricardo Macher.
Terry ,   Eilat - Israel   (11.02.10)
Of course, they are traitors & vile hypocrites. But, this is still a democracy of sorts. But, they should be investigated & also sued for slander for unproven & unsubstantiated accusations & heavily fined. Very heavily fined.
17. Really??
Paul ,   NY   (11.02.10)
Pool people. Lets give a box of tissues to the people that actually think that they didn't do anything and they are by "mistake" there. There is a reason why they are locked and treated this way. Many of "tips" of bombs and other terror against Israel coming from these facilitis. Salma and the other people that think igs worng, you should visit there I'll take you
18. to #16 in which democracy people that
ghostq   (11.02.10)
have no supporters in the state can be elected even, that got nothing to do with democrachy, usually democrachy represent the LOKAL people and not people that r not even civilians.
19. why are they quiet about Gilad Shalit?
rachel ,   usa   (11.02.10)
20. mistreatment
ed ,   reno, america   (11.02.10)
when is the last time you heard of a prisoner say he treated good. these groups are always claiming the worst. unless you have proof why are you reporting hearsay as news. why don't you report on the treatment of Israeli prisoners by their captors. is there so little real news that you have to print gossip. unless you have solid proof that is all this type of reporting is!
21. How about libel laws? Or is this the Weimar Republic?
Eitan ,   Chicago   (11.02.10)
Does B'Tselem get to say, "The government kicks puppies," without fear of being sued by the government? I'm sure B'Tselem would love to invent the next al-Dura as a fund-raising coup, but making defamatory allegations about your home country without any proof is not just cynical, it's seditious. The government should be suing them for at best, defaming the state with no evidence and at worst, lying under oath. Then B'Tselem would need to take up with a Swedish newspaper and become tabloid writers. As it is, we're not far from hearing them claim, "A Streimal ate my baby!"
22. Boohoo
Ezra ,   Florida   (11.02.10)
I cannot stop myself from crying for these poor souls....They are as "innocent" as the driven snow. It is "organizations" like BETZELEM and MOKED who drove out of the American millitary a colonel Allen West , because someone complained that he SCARED TO DEATH some Iraqi detainee and cohorted him into detailing the enemy's plans, thus saving a lot of American lives. Mr. West TODAY (election day in the US) will be elected (hopefully) as a US Congessman from Florida. About KAPO "organizations" like those two, all I can say is : You traitors NIMASTEM KVAR !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
23. IS THIS A JOKE?
Mark from Georgia ,   USA   (11.02.10)
First much of the testimony comes from unreliable sources. The idea that well known liars can be trusted to tell the truth regarding Israeli treatment of Palestinian prisoners is nuts. Criminals falsely accuse the police of abuse all the time. Second, to draw a parallel between what the charges are and the time they spend in jail is silly. Al Capone the well known gangster from the "prohibition era" was charged with tax evasion. He was never charged with the dozens of murders he orchestrated or committed. Because the government couldn't prove what they knew he did. So you can see my point, sometimes you charge a suspect on what you prove to take the danger off the street. But if you lie, and tell half the story, and just focus how a man was sentenced to life in prison for tax evasion it sounds like abuse of power by the government. But Al Capone was no innocent guy who was abused by the U.S. government, was he? My point is basic, what are they (B'Tselem) leaving out?
24. Which Lefty Euro pays for this treason? Racist murderers
jae ,   lynn us   (11.02.10)
should not get kid gloves. Does btselem also complain for the kkk getting the shiite kicked out of it in jail? Or are only those who kill Jews defended by btselem. This organization spits on the graves of all Jews murdered by these terrorists
25. Living in an arab village would be much worse than prison.
Bunnie Meyer ,   Los Angeles, CA USA   (11.02.10)
26. Oh really ? I'm shocked !!! ,...
split ,   US   (11.02.10)
27. disbelief vs. approval
andrew r   (11.03.10)
Some of you defend the ill-treatment of prisoners and some of you don't believe it because it's Arab testimony. Maybe you all need to work on coordination.
