31. Odumba still runs the foreign policy
Gee ,   Zikron Yaakov   (11.03.10)
Yes Congress does control the purse strings, but little else.
32. No. 13, Bobh
Robert Leckie ,   Fernandina Beach, US   (11.03.10)
Sorry, No. 13, this election had nothing to do with the religious or racial background of any candidates. It was about changing the direction of our nation... away from the disasterous path of socialism. Jews and gentiles alike will benefit from that change.
33. Article Correction
justaguy ,   CA, USA   (11.04.10)
Enjoyed the article but, as can been seen from a search on youtube, it appears that Joe Manchin was not spraying shotgun bullets but shooting with a bolt-action hunting rifle, probably a .308. Great ad - wish we saw more of that level of commitment from our CA legislators.
34. Provide sincere right wing leadership and rise to power.
Chaim ,   Israel   (11.04.10)
Israel, like America, is also a centre right country. Israel longs for sincere right wing leadership. Israel longs for leaders to proudly claim and massively settle Judea and Samaria. Israel longs for leaders who proudly reject the evil Two State Final Solution and racist anti-Jewish building freezes. Whoever provides sincere right wing leadership will certainly rise to power in Israel, as the Republicans are in the U.S.
35. #1 - We must know very different people
Christy ,   Boston, US   (11.04.10)
For many Christian citizens of the US, Israel is *always* on our list of priorities and concerns. Why is this? Detractors will say its because US Christian Zionists have some weird end-time agenda and don't really care for Israel at all. I've never encountered a Christian Zionist who thinks like this. Christian Zionists will tell you that G-d loves Israel and requires us (Christians) to bless Israel if we expect G-d to bless us. Very Simple. Empathy with, and support for, Israel increased greatly among non-Christians following 9-11. Many of my fellow-citizens believe Israel and the US have the same enemies who want to destroy us both.
36. Ettinger doesn't understand American politics
Profco ,   Miami, FL   (11.04.10)
How stupid of Ettinger to think that some of these teabaggers will be better for Israel than Ron Klein of Florida! Furthermore, several Jewish Democrats survived reelection to Congress but will lose their chairmanships of influential committees that impact Israel policy: Rep. Barney Frank (D-Mass.),Banking Committee; Henry Waxman (D-Calif.), Commerce and Energy committee; Howard Berman (D-Calif.), Foreign Affairs Committee; and Nita Lowey (D-N.Y.), foreign operations subcommittee of the Appropriations Committee. Eric Cantor is still the only Republican Jew in the entire Congress, and for good reasons Mr. Ettinger apparently knows nothing about.
37. Repubicans do no service to Israel.
Chas. ,   Los Angeles   (11.04.10)
38. Tea Party victory = boost to Israeli welfare state?
Richard ,   Waterford, MI, USA   (11.10.10)
This is a joke. Most Americans couldn't even point out Israel on a map, let alone understand how voting Republican relates to U.S.-Israel policy. People voted based on JOBS and ECONOMY. This article does a great job at assessing how much Israel has to gain from the results, but if these same anti-tax, anti-welfare Americans understood how much of their tax money goes to Israel, they'd really start calling for the U.S. to "just bomb the whole Middle East" (yes, Israel included).
