2. What would happen to a Bet Knesset?
Dan ,   RG   (11.07.10)
In Bat Yam a house of Jewish worship was built on top of a school built by Mifal Hapais. As far as I know it is still there. This is against Mifal Hapais operating permit, but it has not been torn down.
3. Why U get angry when someone attacked a synagogue?!
Salma ,   Palestine   (11.07.10)
What are you doing now?!! Do you see any difference between this shameful act in Rahat, and the parcel bombs which were on their way to the synagogues in America?!! there is no Palestinian mosques or "Israeli "synagogues , it's God's house.
4. Why do we do this to ourselves
Israeli   (11.07.10)
we are morons. Who cares if a bedouin town builds without the proper permits. I know buildings have to be built to code, with the proper permissions, etc. but is it really worth it for the bad feelings it causes fellow citizens and the bad PR?
5. GOOD ! BUT IT'S JUST A START....
(11.07.10)
6. Impartiality
Aaron ,   Singapore   (11.07.10)
when enforcing the law is important for social stability even if it brings bad PR. The police do demolish synagogues as well, and what about the outposts in Yesha?

FINALLY WE ALL AGREE...THIS WAS A MISTAKE...
8. Illegal and now razed Mosque
Barbara ,   Haifa Israel   (11.07.10)
I can't understand how, if it was illegal to build a mosque on that specific land, that the city government allowed the building to take place ?! Why city government didn't stop building from the beginning? Why let Bedouin finish building the mosque and then tear it down ? You can't tell me that the mosque was built overnight ?!
9. And what about the one at Rachel's tomb?
Yehuda   (11.07.10)
10. Hey Salma, do you know

the Kaba was built on the pagan's temple...on the bigest Byzantine church they build the bigest mosqe in syria...same thing happened in jerusalem, in india, in Iran, in.... shame on the hypocrits than only repeat rhetoric but act different..
11. Hypocritical talkbackers
Gimmie a break ,   Jew-rusalem   (11.07.10)
You are all so upset over one mosque but when all of Gaza was made Judenrein not only destroying numerous synagogues but destroying Jewish HOMES as well, simply because arabs didn't want them living there based on the fact they were Jews, I bet none of you spoke up. According to Torah (the only real and G-dly truth so don't give me your moral relativism garbage or start shouting racism) these bedouins and all and all other arabs in Israel don't have a right to be here and are just guests... guests which are wearing out their welcome!
12. Contradiction
jim ,   Ramallah/Palestine   (11.07.10)
When it Comes to a mosque that is under the RAHAT municiplaity control , it is destroyed ASAP. But for settlments.....OOOOOOO This is democracy and just Awake
13. there has to be more to this than meets the eye
bob ,   NZ   (11.07.10)
This upset me. I found the story, as written here , so hard to believe that I researched it on google. On another website I read that the people funding the mosque had refused to build it on land alotted for it near to the present site. It seemed that they were looking for confrontation and thats why they chose the illegal site. I dont know if thats true but it is what I read on the other newsite.
14. #11 calling that argument racist would be an insult
to intelligent ,   racists   (11.07.10)
15. Contradiction no 12
JUDAH THE LION   (11.07.10)
Hey Jim, no one in the world can build without approval from thre local council, and if anyone build without permission, the local council will have the right to demolishe the property. This is international law,and you have to respect the law.If yoiu dont like the Israeli law,you are most welcome to leave the country.
16. Mosque in Rahat
Eli Minoff ,   Safed   (11.07.10)
All of our government officials seem to have one thing in common. Not a single one of them has any common sense.
17. TO The Israeli Land Administration &Jewsih National Fund

Please allocate a piece of land for these Bedouin Community else where within jurisdition.Thank you . ben singapore
18. wake up!!!!
somewhere   (11.07.10)
if the israeli people dont start to wake up the end is in the near future. This is how arabs are slowly taking over, it is a slow process but a sureful one. The state of Israel will belong to the arabs, because the jews have given them a gold platter. WAKE UP!!!! Israel you are on the right track, just be consistant!!!!!
19. keep it up
palestinian ,   every where   (11.07.10)
the Israelis never fail to remind the whole world of who they really are . we don't need to teach our kids about you ,they sees it live . we don't have to teach them to hate you ..you are doing a wonderful job.
20. Permits not allow to be issued for Mosques on state lands
Bloodyscot ,   Dallas, Texas   (11.07.10)
or Churches for that matter only Synagogues. The real question is how most of Bedouin lands became state lands in Israel in 1950's, while they remained in Israel and are citizens. Also many Arabs in northern Israel lost their lands and were moved to camps deeper inside of Israel, during the same time frame but neither group was paid for the land. It was for security reasons to get more Jewish people living in those areas but because Arabs owned most the land and their was little money to buy it at the time, a law was passed to take it.
21. really
DAQIO ,   HAIFA   (11.07.10)
if this government is so evil then you can leave and move to lebanon or jordan or saudi arabia or syria or iran where all RIGHTS of all types of people are honered every day, and noone is ever harmed
22. "How would Jews feel if a synagogue would have been destroye
Raphael ,   Netanya   (11.07.10)
I presume it is sophisticated palestinian humour. Never heard about the Gush Kativ synagogues or Joseph's tomb?
23. To those who ask...
Frank P. ,   Jerusalem   (11.07.10)
"how would Jews feel if synagogues were destroyed" well they have been, many times; both by Arabs, during the Jordanian occupation 1948 til '67, and in recent times in settlements deemed illegal or 'obstacles to peace'. These events however gleaned no protest from you nor were they considered very newsworthy in your media. Ask yourselves why.
24. #3 Sabah El-full Salma
Yossef ,   Toronto/Rehovot   (11.07.10)
You know that I like you very much, and I understand what you say, and by the way I don't completely disagree. It is allowed for jews to pray in a mosque. But the point here is that the mosque has been built without permit. Do you think that you can built a mosque or a synagogue in any developed country without permit ? I am sad about the destruction of this mosque because I respect and I like much of beduin tradition and hospitality. But the rules must be the same for everybody. May be the mayor can find an agreement with the israeli authorities ? I hope so. Is there a synagogue where I can go and pray in Ramalah ;) Take care Salma, we need you.
25. 15 - You must be kidding right?!...
Dan   (11.07.10)
most seller housings are without permit and even though the supreme court has ordered many to be destroyed years ago and still up standing. Are you living in a cave or what?
26. Did you know
Gefen ,   US   (11.07.10)
For centuries, muslims have been converting or destroying synagogues, churches and other religious institutions. After 1.3 million Jews were forced out of middle east, all the synagogues were either converted or left to ruins, Jewish cemeteries were made into pavements and much more. So, when muslims have been doing this for centuries, how can they expect to be treated differently. And by the way, Israel has been treating muslims better than any arab country.
27. Just like in the US
Baruch ,   Boston, USA   (11.07.10)
Moslems are building mosques all over the US, even at the 9/11 site and all the liberals support it. But those same liberals are against religion in general, and want it ended. Kind of hypocritical on the one hand and illogical on the other.
28. Bedouins
Albi ,   Ashkelon   (11.07.10)
The Bedouins are not real Israels: They didnt oust innocent people from their homes; they didn't steal other people's land; they believed the government's promises to them; they dont try to get out of army service; they have no police force, green or otherwise, to protect them; they don't get equal schooling or anything else; they don't try to impose their religion on anybody else; nobody represents their interests in government. They have been loyal citizens, but we are forcing them into the enemy camp. Then we will say that you can't trust them. Just whom can't really be trusted?
29. all houses in Old City in Jerusalem are mosques
Anna M Sedda ,   italy-Rome   (11.07.10)
and it should be illigal to have loud speakers that at 4 am start shouting from the private homes ....it has no equal in the world...take them down...
30. Politics and Common Sense
Voice from the Negev   (11.07.10)
True, a lot is being done in order to integrate Beduins into our society, and yes, a lot has to be done still. The argument "what if this had been a synagogue" is flawed since we have shown the world that we hand over Jewish homes and synagoges to Hamas. Razing a building without building permission is not always a political decision: just think if it was G-d forbid destroyed in an earthquake and people got hurt, because it was built without obeying safety standarts? Everybody woud ask Where was the state?
