1. Deport all terrorist-anarchists back to their countries!
Joe ,   NY   (11.07.10)
2. The State does NOTHING because they don't care....
Adina Kutnicki ,   Israel   (11.07.10)
they are more interested in appeasing the Arabs and in allowing the anarchists to run amok. ANY normal leadership would lock them up for crimes of arson and incitement. In any case, it will be up to nationalist Jews to deal with them-one way or another.....
3. Leftists goad our enemies on; Government allows these anarch
Jae ,   Lynn US   (11.07.10)
ist Jew haters in? whats wrong with you? if they are affiliated for years with a group- amnesty etc let them in. If its found that such groups have members who repeatedly do such acts the organization should be threatened with eviction if they dont boot said anarchists from their ranks. you cant burn forest land, you cant do that and incite riots that are racist and anti semitic against Jews. In the US that equals serious jail time
4.  not State land if not within Israels unilateral borders
lydia ,   Brisabne   (11.07.10)
5. "main finding so far is that arson was involved"
Raymond in DC ,   Washington, USA   (11.07.10)
It's tough to deny arson when it's captured on film. Israeli authorities, by refusing to punish those responsible, is only inviting more such outrage. They should all be ashamed - perpetrators and authorities who refuse to do their jobs.
6. #4 so because you say its theirs
ronen ,   israel   (11.07.10)
than it means they can frame us for crimes they themselves have commited? lydia are you part of the aboriginal community of australia? if not than i dont know where is this self righteosness from
7. Who are those anarchists? The Greek ones?
justin   (11.07.10)
Greek anarchists are very angry these days. they are spreading bomb packages around europe. they have a passion for burning things. i remember reading that the number of greeks entering israel increased slightly. one wonders if they are coming to create anarchy in israel togehter with their fellow greek orthodox arab christians...
8. #4
Z ,   Israel   (11.07.10)
Fine, then if it is not on our land it is on "their" land that they will inevitably say that we burnt their land intentionally and the international community will remain silent. Don't be naive, fault lies on both sides and motives are rather see through, therefore, stop with your nonsense and say when someone is wrong instead of sitting on your high horse and snubbing your noses at us. I believe it was your nation that stole an entire nation from a whole group of people and then poisoned them with drugs and alcohol. Fix your internal problems before you tell us how to fix ours.
9. So much for "leftist" love of nature
(11.08.10)
10. #4 - actually, it IS within Israel's unilateral borders
William ,   Israel   (11.08.10)
the 1967 border which you (I assume) refer to is not Israel's unilateral border but a ceasefire line in 1949. No intl body recognizes it as an official border. documents and agreements, including that which was agreed to by Al-Faisal in 1919, places Israel's borders at the other side of Jordan, which later agreements bringing it to the Jordan River, yet nothing giving Judea/Samaria to Arabs. So, based on historical precedents, and Intl Law that places non-private land (i.e. public State land) in the hands of the governing body (Israel) clearly places the rights over the land in Israel's hands. You can cry till you're blue in the face, Lydia, but this is the letter of the law of which you convolute based on your lack of moral clarity and legalese.
11. Why No Jail Time for Burners?
Christy ,   Boston, US   (11.08.10)
Foreign or native arsonists should be given some time in jail.
12. Peace, love, arson
Scott ,   USA   (11.08.10)
13. Palestinian land theft?
Ed ,   USA   (11.08.10)
Could someone explain how planting trees gives the Palestinians rights to the land? If I cultivate land that doesn't belong to me, it doesn't become mine. Does the Israeli govt recognize cultivated land as owned land? Something important is missing from this story.
14. Prisons
Tom ,   New York ,USA   (11.08.10)
Doesn't Israel have prisons & a fence to be built. In the US prisoners are put on work details.
15. To #4 this land is my land
Alexander ,   NJ, USA/Israel   (11.08.10)
In 1967 the Arabs waged war on Israel, they lost. In any defensive war a country that gains territory against it's aggressors has more right to the land then the previous. This is indeed Israel's land and these people are criminals. They should never be allowed into the country again.
16. re: arson by foreign anarchists
joel ,   usa   (11.08.10)
why not put those foreign anarchists inside "filthy & dangerous" prison, and see if they be abck!
17. Deport the Leftists
Brod ,   USA   (11.08.10)
Deport the Leftists to the Wahhabhist kingdom and see whether they will find utopia there.
18. Jail them for arson. Make them pay for the damages.
Eran ,   Singapore   (11.08.10)
19. To 6 & 8 - WRONG
er der   (11.08.10)
Lydia is a known anti-Semitic troll often found on Ynet talkbacks. She is most likely amongst the tens of thousands of Lebanese immigrants who now inhabit Australia's cities, and she therefore certainly has nothing to do with that country's history. BTW, the people who dealt so unfairly with the Aborigines were at the time known to the educated world as 'English Settlers'. Today, the people who come from Australia are of an entirely different nature, unlike many of the people who still go there to settle (and to ruin).
20. Twisting facts: just who is stealing the land?
Cynic #2   (11.08.10)
1-What does state land mean? 2-Is the West Bank part of Israel? 3-Are the Jewish settlers legal in the West Bank? the answers are very clear: state land means it is the land of the people that the state represents. Israel is not the sovereign state in the West Bank, it is the occupying power. It is not allowed to tamper with this 'state land' for the benefit of the Israeli people i.e. the settlers. what the Palestinians are doing is plant their own 'state land' The settlers are a group of people belonging to the occupying power, Israel, and since the West Bank is occupied territory (NOT DISPUTED TERRITORY), their presence in the West Bank is illegal. So cut the crap Mr. Dov Mark and Mr. Shaul Goldstein, this territory is not yours to live in or even talk about. You'll be kicked out eventually without compensation, just like Yamit and Gaza!
21. Cynic #2
Alistair ,   Scotland   (11.08.10)
How can anyone argue with your statment? I agree with you 100%
22. Just some facts for Cynic #2
Kyle ,   Southpark, CO, USA   (11.08.10)
This land was captured by Israel in a defensive war during which it was attacked by Jordan, who were then the occupiers of that territory. It did not and never belonged to any sovereign entity called "Palestine" and therefore can not in any way be considered "occupied." In 1967 this was uncultivated state land administered by Jordan. Now it is administered by Israel. It was at no time ever administered by "Palestine."
23. To: No. 20
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (11.08.10)
Don't quite know how to break this to you, but the West Bank is non-sovereign territory, and was acquired by Israel in the course of fighting a defensive war against Jordan. Israel's presence in Judea and Samaria is fully legal, as is its right to construct settlements. Israel is not an "occupying" power, as you falsely claim, because the West Bank was never sovereign territory to begin with. If anything, since all West Bank Arabs and their progeny were irrevocably granted Jordanian citizenship by virtue of Jordan's 1954 Citizenship Law, Israel would be well within her rights to simply annex Judea and Samaria, and repatriate its Arab residents to Jordan, country of their citizenship. I remind you that in 1947, only the Jews accepted partition. The Arabs rejected it, choosing to go to war instead. They lost. They started five more wars, too; they lost them all, with increasingly devastating results. And nothing you can say changes international law; none of the sweeping statements you make (including all of the usual buzzwords) changes the facts. By the way, following the 1947 partition offer, the Arabs have had two other opportunities to accept a two-state solution. Most recently, the one in 2000 would have awarded them 90% of the West Bank and East Jerusalem as a capital. They chose to walk away from the offer, and start the second intifada. Six wars, and nearly seventy years of unrelenting Arab terror later, I assure you that there is very little in the way of goodwill left among Israelis. The Arabs have demonstrated, time and time again, that they are not interested in peace; or even peaceful co-existence. The thirty-odd organizations, each of which purport to be the sole true representative of the "Palestinian" people, have steadfastly refused to repudiate their vile charters, which all call for the destruction of the State of Israel and the extermination and/or expulsion of the Jewish people. To date, each "Palestinian" organization has refused to recognize the right of the State of Israel to exist in its ancient homeland; similarly, each such organization refuses to recognize the inalienable character of the State of Israel as the Jewish state. Arab intransigence has achieved nothing. Frankly, Israel isn't going to be making any offers. We have tried and tried to get the Arabs to act reasonably, with no success. But our patience is not limitless, and we have more than adequately proven that the Arabs are no match for Israel on the battlefield. Next time, dear, will be the last time. Judea and Samaria will be annexed -- just as Israel annexed East Jerusalem and the Golan Heights, and the Arab interlopers and illegal squatters on Israeli soil will have to leave. Count on it. And don't look to the international community for any assistance -- they're pretty sick of the Arabs, too. Finally, I remind you that Israel left Yamit and Gaza voluntarily. Don't count on it happening with respect to Judea and Samaria. In fact -- you can count on the precise opposite.
24. fire clearing a normal thing, before soil can be used ?
eporue ,   europe   (11.08.10)
25. Wow
A.M.   (11.11.10)
Impressive, how upside-down one can possibly angle an article!
26. This article is libelous at best
David ,   Tel Aviv, Israel   (11.21.10)
Video has been released of the incident - it shows activists clearing brush with farmers and an explanation of the technique. Yair Altman chose to publish shtuyot by settlers. Accusations, claims of crimes, assumptions about intent and character - big no no. The author didn't even attempt to research the story and ask the other side their story. This is not only typical Judeo-centric journalism, but in a country of laws, it is libel. I look forward to hearing Yair's excuse for shoddy journalism and his boss's response to their latest liability.
