1. more white than white!
martine ,   ashdod   (11.07.10)
The Israelis seem to want to be better than the best, and naming a road after that man proves that, even if they are not asked to do something, they do it by their own will. There are dozen roads with arab names around the World, why in Israel. Then, ask the palestinians or the egyptians or the jordanians to do the same, I'll be glad to see if they'll accept. Why not rehov Menahem Begin in Cairo? That's the same. Begin had behaved friendly with Sadate. So...
2. So Israel Is Willing to Name a Square after a Pal
Doug ,   Rochester, USA   (11.07.10)
as long as he is an "uncle Tom". But if he resists Israeli land theft, illegal occupation, phosphrous shells, illegal colonization, then he is vilified? Sounds like Racism to me!
3. Meretz attracts racist hypocrites like Mashrawi
Menachem ,   Israel   (11.08.10)
Mashrawi's resignation clearly shows that the far-left "peacecamp" is not interested in promoting genuine coexistence. They are only interested in promoting a rabid anti-Israel and anti-Jewish hate propaganda. Mr. Mashrawi finds it "absurd" with Jewish street names in Jaffa? Anti-Jewish bigot trepassers should be reminded that every square inch of Israel is JEWISH since it is the homeland of the JEWISH people. Don't like it? Move to Gaza, Cairo or Damascus.
4. #2, and by "resist" you mean commit murder

5. Name a square after Arafat
Abu Jihad ,   Yaffa, Plaestine   (11.08.10)
Good move, but also s square in Jerusalem should be named after its most most famous sons, the late President Yasser Arafat. and the Late Grand Mufti Hajj Amin Al Husseini
6. ENOUGH IS ENOUGH ! POLITICIANS LOST THEIR MINDS

7. This is how it should be
R ,   Israel   (11.08.10)
The square is named for him based on his merits, and that is how it should be. He advocated moderation and co-existance. If that attitude were adopted in Gaza the Palestinians would have a thriving state there today and the peace process would be moving forward.
8. Righteous gentiles
zichron   (11.08.10)
Those of islam who wish live in peace with the jews are under our protection and should have full equality before the law but the jews must control security.
9. This is the Israel I love :-)
Yossef ,   Toronto/Rehovot   (11.08.10)

12. #5 Arafat is a famous son of a.....
Daweed ,   Saana   (11.08.10)
Egyptian ( I bet you thought I was going say a different word. Ha ha). He was born and raised in Egypt, so if he is a proud son of anywhere then it is there he should have a square named after him. Perhaps in a neighborhood where men can find young boys for sale in keeping with "Abu Ammar" tastes.

16. to #2 Excuse me, adults are speaking here.
Alexander ,   NJ, USA   (11.08.10)
Yes, of course no good ynet article is good without the usual Arab mythology mixed in with distorted facts and a child like simplification of a very complex issue where things are good and evil and the Jews are always evil. It is always good to see how one sided and irrational a person can be. How exactly did you master being so narrow minded? Was it a skill you gradually mastered or just a G-d given talent?
17. About time!!!!
Dorothy Friend ,   Tel Aviv   (11.08.10)
Plenty of streets and squares named after Jews all over the world, even Jews that didn't live in the countries where those streets and squares are located.
18. Islamic Movement is Israeli branch of the Muslim Brotherhood
Linda Rivera ,   New York   (11.08.10)
For Tel Aviv to honor a senior member of the Islamic Movement is to honor planned Islamic conquest and civilization's destruction. Document of The Muslim Brotherhood in America: "The process of settlement [of Islam in the United States] is a "Civilization-Jihadist" process with all the word means. The Ikhwan must understand that all their work in America is a kind of grand Jihad in eliminating and destroying the Western civilization from within and "sabotaging" their miserable house by their hands and the hands of the believers so that it is eliminated and God's religion is made victorious over all religions."
19. #18 You have every right to be angry, but...
Alexander ,   NJ, USA   (11.09.10)
Not every Muslim is a terrorist, but almost all terrorist are Muslim. I won't argue with you on that, but ostracizing some 1.5 billion Muslim's because they are in the grips of the modern death cult (Jihad) will not help win the war on terror. My point is that if there are good Muslim's (like Sheikh Bassam Abu Zayid ) we should NOT make them suffer because there are bad Muslim's out there trying to make everyone suffer. We need to empower them instead and build them up as the model and exemplary Muslim. The Jihadist are the enemies of Humanity. They are part of Islam and are as much a danger to the good in the Muslims as they are to anyone else. This is a fight for all good people including Muslims.
