1. Kol haKavod!
Avraham ,   Beit Shemesh   (11.09.10)
Nice to see people fighting for the right things!
2. I still say fire the pseudo-academics calling for a boycott
Brian Cohen ,   Judean Peoples Front   (11.09.10)
Those professors who take home our tax money and call for an academic boycott of Israel should be fired for professional misconduct. Freedom of expression is the right to express your opinions, but has limits when you impinge on the freedom of others to express theirs. Academic freedom is the freedom to pursue academic interests unfettered - so calling for a boycott of those freedoms is both antithetical to academia and a professional offense. Fire the bums and let them go get lecturing jobs where the academic standards are low enough to hire professors who reject academic freedom.
3. 37. Is that all they could get?
rebecca ,   Modiin   (11.09.10)
Please, I'm sure they could have got that many in Israel alone. Even if they just went to the "peace prize" winners they should have more. It's a joke
4. THE TRUTH WILL OUT
Mark from Georgia ,   USA   (11.09.10)
The fact is Carmi is 100% accurate when she states: "Truthfully the factions who support boycotts both in Israel and around the world are marginal, but the resonance of media support they receive is vast," The factions are MARGINAL but the media is VAST, that is the truth. People get the impression that so many are against Israel, while the truth is, for instance, here in the U.S., the people by majority have always supported Israel. Since the Arabs lost the 1973 war they realized they could never defeat Israel in a military sense. So in the early 1980's under the supervision of Arafats wife they began a PR campaign to vilify and delegitimize Israel. So for the last 30+ years, that is what has been going on, and they achieved some success. Especially infiltrating academic institutions. Rewriting history with a false Arab narrative of the Israeli-Arab conflict. Of course when Israel or pro-Israel writers fight back they are attacked, not for what they write...because it's the truth...but for being Jewish or Pro-Israel. The latest example of the false Arab narrative is Gaza, recently busted for the crisis that did not exist. We heard of "starvation", "open air prisons", and other such nonsense. Only to see pictures of food courts well stocked, with a wide variety and an abundance of food. Then the pictures of Upscale Malls, Upscale Restaurants, New Water Parks for the kids etc., hardly prison conditions. So slowly but as always the truth comes out, and this letter is just another nail in the coffin of the false Arab narrative, the hoax cynically used to elicit undeserved sympathy. When what is needed is mutual understanding and talks to work out all the issues.
5. So Professor Carmi, why do you
Robert Haymond ,   Israel/Canada   (11.09.10)
support Neve Gordon of your own political science department if you're so against boycotts? He works in your own university, gets paid by your own university and advocates for boycotts and divestment.
6. I am sorry , I am all confused
David ,   USA/ISRAEL/EGYPT   (11.09.10)
Ben Gurion University,Carmi and staff are the ones calling to boycott Israel. Did they change their mind after South Africa called to boycott their University. So those signatories are against any boycott of the University that is boycotting the state of Israel . if this is the case I will not support any of those who sign that petition. Please help
7. THEY ARE JEALOUS OF WHAT THE JEWS HAVE GIVEN HUMANITY
chris ,   wales   (11.09.10)
Maybe they are Jealous that Jews are the Brainiest and a very Tiny small Percentage of the World's Population have given far more by way of science,Technology,Inventions etc, than any other group or race on the planet..In fact, without the Jews we would still be probably living like in the 16th or 17th century
