1. Olmert did have Bushes support for a strike
zionist forever   (11.09.10)
When Olmert didn't ask Bush for the green light it was just an unsaid green light from Bush. Don't ask my permission keep the US out of it and as I don't know what your planning I can't stop you. Thats what Obama is doing with Iran, I wont hit Iran and I refuse to let Israel do anything either. This is not the same as the situation in 1981 when Israel bombed Saddam's reactor without telling anybody ( US especially ). In that case the US was as surprised as Saddam Hussain. As for Lebanon, Bush had good reason to loose confidence in Israel. He had gone out of his way to help Israel by not only giving the green light but also trying to delay the UN to avoid a ceasefire and give Olmert time to finish the job properly. Instead Olmert, Livni, Peretz & Halutz sat in their cosy air conditioned offices trying to micromanage every aspect of the war and as a result screwing it up. When you have a government that fights a war that way who can blame Bush for loosing confidence in Israel.

...Bush is an Idiot and was a total disaster for America and the world.
4. Israel doesn't need green light to destroy Iran's nukes.
Chaim ,   Israel   (11.10.10)
Israel destroyed Syrian nukes without an American green light. We certainly don't need a green light from Obama to destroy Iran's nukes. We know it must be done. What are we waiting for?
5. The US tries not appear as fighting war for Jews (politics)
Joe ,   Canada   (11.10.10)
The ennemies of Jews try to prevent any help coming to them by antisemitic propaganda. In the 1940's it was the nazi propaganda which scared the allies into doing nothing to prevent or slow the Holocaust while it was taking place for fear it would foster american isolationism. The allies did not want to appear as fighting for the Jews as the nazis claimed. Now it is the likes of Ahmadinejad & other parts of the Moslem world that the US politicians are trying not to upset by siding too openly with Israel even when US security interests coincide with those of Israel. And applying pressure on Israel & the Palestinians for a fake peace agreement which has no chance whatsoever to last & even less to apease the fanatic zealots of Iran & elsewhere. They have not learned that negociating with dictators is a game of deceit with dire long tem consequences even when the despots make fake concessions to gain time & improve the odds in their favor.

7. Bush
Hal ,   Usa   (11.10.10)
George W Bush is a fake and daddy's littlle war criminal. George Bush the Lesser has done more to weakin America and Israel than Iran could hope for. Eliminating Iran's strategic enemy Saddam Hussein was a stroke of ignorance and arrogance that the world has rarely seen. For all those here that lament the passing of the Bush presidency as a friend of Israel, you've been had by an incompetant little rich boy that never had his father's affection. You mostly harangue Obama and yet the real danger and damage to Israel was done by non other than Daddy's little war criminal. He made the Iranians 50ft tall which in turn set Syria and the Hezbonians on the path that they are on as we speak. Also don't forget the driving force behind this boob, Uncle Dick Cheney, a draftdodger from the Vietnam era and umitigated fanatic. Bush and Co. has basically handcuffed America to Iraq and Afganistan which has allowed Iran to opperate almost unhindered in the region. When you bash Obama, be very careful for what you wish for !
8. #7 Bush had no choice
Israel Israeli ,   Tel Aviv   (11.10.10)
The most important American interest is keeping oil flowing from the Arab puppet dictatorships. Saddam invaded Kuwait to change this equation, so Bush Senior attacked him. Saddam did not learn his lesson and was threatening a new war. The Saudis ordered Bush Junior to invade and occupy Iraq. Bush Junior thought had no choice but to do what the Saudis told him. As for the Iranian problem, give credit where credit is due: Jimmy Carter (also at the bidding of the Saudis) helped the Islamists take over the Western-Oriented Persia.
9. #8 Israeli
Hal ,   Usa   (11.10.10)
No question about Bush senior's necessity for attacking Saddam in first Guilf War. My point about Bush junior is that he lied his way into Iraq invasion for personal reasons. Saddam was under constant no-fly zone degradation of his assets. In other words, Saddam was in a box he couldn't break out of. Bush junior never liked the way his daddy ended the first Gulf War without finishing of Saddam and he was seeking retribution for the attempted assasination of his father. WMD was a farce intended to elicit European backing for an invasion junior had planned all along. As far as Iran is concerned, Jimmy Carter gave the Iranians the impression that America couldn't shoot straight and Bush junior elevated Iran by deposing Saddam. Junior had and has a poor understanding of geo-politics. Also with Uncle Dick Cheney at his side, he had a "Big Oil" apparatchik pursuing a personal agenda [Haliburton, et al] , America and American's be damned. Israel was not served well in the process as America had and has little room to maneuver. Iran can take little solice in the sense that as Iran's testicles grow too large, America will act as it's interests in the region are put in jeapordy. Do a little more research and don't believe everything Fox News has to say. They are part of the disinformation campaign that has protected Bush junior from his just deserts, a needed thumping from all that care about what was done in their name!
