1. this is of course the best system in the entire world
zionist forever   (11.10.10)
The S-300 is equal to if not superior to the US Patriot in the role of being an anti aircraft system and there is no way that Iran is going to be able to develop something that can match that. Iran will of course tell us their new AA system is the best in the world and can shoot down everything from a paper airplane to a Star Destroyer.

That is one way to look at it, or another way is: This is identical to the Russian S-300. Why, because it has been an under the table deal all along. How could Iran develop this missile since September refusal of Russia? Give me a break! Russia wants the money and they will get it under the table just like Iran got the missile under the table.
3. #1 then probe it
Reader   (11.10.10)
You bark so much it seems, but Iran will close a lot of big mouths with its new antiaircraft system. No need for Russian help, hey babys do you have the american help, now??? Neither the US dares to prove it.
4. System Will Be Assembled In Iran From Russian Parts
World Citizen ,   the world   (11.10.10)
Then everyone will be happy. The Americans got the Russians to back the sanctions. The Russians will have made the sale and the Iranians will have the system. The Israeli giovenment knows this. That's why they are so intent in getting the Americans to bomb Iran and fight the next Middle Eastern war for them. But the Americans (especially the US military) are sick and tired of fighting proxy wars for Israel. Maybe a military coup will come?
5. S-300 Missiles
Harold ,   USA   (11.10.10)
Russia declared the cancellation of S-300 missiles delivery to Iran but actually they built a factory in Iran manufacturing same weapon.

And when did the US ever fight a proxy war for Israel? Facts, dates, please. Also note that it is the Arabs that have had proxies, notably Russians and more recently Iranians.
7. Test it
IRAN#1   (11.11.10)
If the Isralies don't beleive the news I am sure Iranians will be dleighted to test the system on some of your F-16Is.... the ones that they pilots don't crash before they get in range!
8. Ah the world experts

9. China may have a bigger role in this but radar is the key
Bloodyscot ,   Dallas, Texas   (11.11.10)
Iran is likely buying Chinese made S-300s and trying to upgrading to Russian standards. The Chinese made S-300s are very good but lack the superior anti-radar jamming abilities of the newer Russian designs but much of this is software base more so than hardware. If Iran can match or get close to the anti-jamming of the Russian units then they will be dangerous, also the missile range is very important but Iran likely already can make the newer longer range anti-air missiles, like S-20 or S-30 clones.
10. Don't worry, Their missile won't fly

Iran can't test anything. Israel's very elegant and sophisticated Stuxnet worm has infected Iran's command and control systems in addition to crippling the nuclear facilities in Bushehr, Natanz, Qum and Isfahan. Iran cannot test anything because they have no way of knowing if the missile wouldn't turn around and drop on Teheran. Iran doesn't control its own computerized systems anymore -- Israel does. Sweet. Never fear, though. I'm sure that Iran will produce some clumsily photoshopped "proof" of their "successful test launches," just as they have done in the past. Yeah, right. File this nonsensical announcement about S-300 missiles right next to Iran's announcements about having developed second-generation and third-generation centrifuges. Face it -- Israel's Stuxnet worm has shut Iran down. With nary a cruise missile fired (although Israel can do that, too; undetected and pretty much at will). HOW DO YOU LIKE US NOW, BABY? HOW DO YOU LIKE US NOW?

You know more than most of us about important details, as in this and other cases, weapons systems and what they can and cannot do. A sincere thank you for the information as it makes most news items easier to comprehend. We may or may not agree in these talkbacks, but your information is nevertheless appreciated.

You carefully -- and predictably -- completely fail to mention that Israel's Phalcon is considered by far and away the best and most sophisticated radar system in the world. Just thought I'd correct your deliberate oversight. Moreover -- if Israel does launch a nuke, even if it is intercepted by anything the Iranians have (not likely, but let me finish my thought nonetheless) -- the intercepted nuke detonates and falls where? All over Iran. Game, set and match, bubbeleh! You tend to over-analyze everything, and your knowledge of advanced weapons systems is dodgy at best. Sometimes, the simplest answer makes the most sense -- and is the most probable outcome.
14. Re13: your view that Israel is always best is dangerous
Bloodyscot ,   Dallas, Texas   (11.12.10)
Never underestimated your enemies, while Israel currently has an edge on equipment and training, that doesn't mean that other countries only have junk and not a danger. Iran is just getting ability to build tech and weapons that other countries have already developed, the same process that Israel when through years ago, the next step is to improve them for their own needs which Iran is still far behind on. I don't believe that Israel would ever use nukes first on other country, that kind of thinking will only lead to Muslim countries pushing harder to get nukes and put more World pressure on Israel's nuclear program. Also nuclear fallout could also affect India and China.
