There have been plenty of wars with the Persians in the bible. The Purim story took place in Persia. If he wants to look beyond bible stories he should look to the secular history books. Persian history is said to have begun with King Cyrus the Great, who unified Persia and conquered vast tracts of land. He is also famous for liberating the Jews from captivity in Babylon around 538 BC, as is amply recorded in the Bible, in the Books of Isaiah, Daniel and Ezra. As far as I know, the Arabs enter history around 305 AD, with the Nabataean Inscriptions; but their real entrance into history was the appearance of Mohammed (570-632 AD) Arabs conquered Persia in the seventh century, spreading Islam. The fact that Iran is mostly Muslim doesn't change the fact the Persians came on the scene about 800 years before the 'Arabs'.

But few know that the percentage of the Persian population of Iran is only around 40-50% max. Roughly 1/3 of their population is Armenian and at least 1/4 are Kurds. The rest are ethnic minorities. Further, 40% of their population is under the age of 30. Iran is a much more complex place than just Neo-Persia.

Persia was a great & cultured empire before falling prey to an evil ideology brought by barbarian conquerors. This totalitarian ideology has done it's best to destroy an ancient civilization bringing only stagnation & backwardness just as it destroyed the other ancient civilizations it conquered. Most lost their identity completely, such as Egypt & Syria & most of N. Africa. But the memory of the great Persian civilization still endures & someday, will reject it's conquest by an inferior culture.

Through out the last 1300 or so years of Islam, there have been many Muslim rulers who where born of Christian Mothers... check it out!!

Nasrallah being right or wrong. It is matter of how Arab Muslims view national aspirations of non-Arab Muslims. I suspect Arab-Muslims see the rest as semi-dhimmis at best. I am sure non-Arab Muslims will not like it. I only fear they just do not understand the measure of insult leveled at them and that must be explained.

Ha-Ha, maybe what Nasrallah is trying to say is that once a country is overrun by Islam it loses its ethnicity and is converted to Arab. So I guess Turkey and Indonesia are Arabic also since their main religion is Arab originated. That is why the Muslims must bow towards Mecca, Arabia is their master. Nasrallah is just telling the Iranians who their masters are in a subtle way.
