2. With FULL UNWRA Backpack Pay
Stan ,   Johannesburg RSA   (11.10.10)
Why do the Arab refugees and their decendants get - and have been getting - for the last 60 years full living allowances while the poor Mizrahi refugees have to suffer to make ends meet? Where's the justice?
3. Jews from the middle east
Yaniv ,   Uk   (11.10.10)
It's about time that the media and government expose what's happened to the Jews who where thrown out of the arab countries. The world only cares about the palestinians problem but always fails to mention the above which amounts to twice the size of israel today taken from the Jews who where living in arab countries.
4. Yes - They MUST address the Jewish refugee issue

6. sephardic refugees
a ash ,   tel aviv israel   (11.10.10)
there are more Jewish refugees than Arab- also the Jewish refugees were kicked out with only one suitcase-and were forced to leave all possessions- in Israel we begged the Arabs to stay and only because the other Arab rulers promised them a false hope do we have this problem -god bless minister ayalon
7. "Refugees" being one of the core issues, must of course deal
Shalom Naim ,   Israel   (11.10.10)
with my status and that of my family and some 850,986 of us, Jews who were expelled by the Muslim Arab world only because we were Jewish. Having come to Israel from Iraq, thanks God, we now feel at home, but refugees nevertheless. So, our issue, it has always been assume by us, will be discussed alongside the issue of the 300,000 to 600,000 Arab refugees.
8. #4 try again, this time please make sense.

9. No problem, mutual right of return also
Son of Palestine ,   Jerusalem, Palestine   (11.10.10)
Sure, if the mizrahi jews want to go back, they should be allowed to do so and same for the palestinian refugees, back to their homes inside the green line. Fair is fair
10. ayalon and liberman
alexi   (11.10.10)
Cmpared to the old labour rulers, ayalon and mainly lieberman are breaths of fresh air, standing upright and not flinching before gul, nasrollah and obama. After the holocaust, jews built a beautiful state on their ancestral homeland. The palestinian story is a load of crocjust to continue th estruggle against israel by the arab world. Yest, jewish refugees need to be on the agenda as well as the land of balfour which is currently jordan, most of which belongs to israel and we will get it back. As for livni's concern for demographics, israel can think of things-extradition, immigration, war, birth control. Perhaps the next war with nasrollah will reduce the population. Citizenship to jorda, increased births among jews, conv ersion of african immigrants or perhaps conversions of the entiree west bank to judaism since they are likely originally jewish. Until then, peres and livni can commisurate in knowing that israelis would never elect them to PM. Any israeli voting for livni is a fool as she sustained neville olmert in power and through the loss to hezbollah where she sat there like a dumbbell.

Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (11.10.10)
The Arabs were not "kicked out" in 1948 -- they left voluntarily at the urging of their leadership, who told them to get out of the way of the conquering armies that were going to push the Jews into the sea. Those Arabs that did not leave remain citizens of Israel to this day; with all of the privileges of citizenship, but not all of the obligations. Five Arab armies attacked the nascent State of Israel one day after the modern State of Israel was established. They thought they could defeat us. They couldn't. It is not Israel's fault that the 21 Arab states chose not to absorb the refugees. On the other hand, nearly one million Jews were expelled from their homes in Arab and Islamic countries with little more than the clothes on their backs. Israel absorbed nearly all of them, with a few (from Morocco, Algeria and Tunisia) going to France. There were a huge number of refugees in Europe following World War II; there are none today, because they have all been absorbed by other countries.
12. Blame it on the Israeli government
David ,   USA/ISRAEL/EGYPT   (11.10.10)
for not bringing up this catastrophe in the last 60 years. And to MK Ayalon, why ask the Palestinians to recognize the Jewish refugees, you should demand the Un and world leaders to recognize and compensate them for their losses, just like they did the Palestinians for the last 60 years. Being one of them I am still waiting but not holding my breath .Shame on the Israeli government and shame on the rest of the world for ignoring those 850000 humans
13. no 9
Adeni Refugee   (11.10.10)
No way Jews will go back to Arab lands. We were very lucky to leave Aden, and I will never forget the trouble and problems what the local Arabs have done to the JEWS. Any Jew who return will be in danger.
14. To: No. 9
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (11.10.10)
The Mizrahi Jews do not want to go back. Keep in mind, too, that they were EXPELLED. The Arabs who left did so voluntarily at the behest of their leadership, which urged them to get out of the way of the "conquering Arab armies" who were going to "push the Jews into the sea." Well, the moral of the story is don't make promises you cannot keep; don't start wars you cannot win. The Arabs who remained are citizens of Israel today, and enjoy all of the rights and privileges of citizenship although not all of the obligations. The ones who left did so voluntarily, and cannot come back. Sorry. You should have taken the partition deal in 1947. Oh well. Can't put toothpaste back into the tube.
15. # 9
Linda ,   Poltava, Ukraine   (11.10.10)
The Mizrahim Jews are unlikely to have a desire to go back, because in the Arab world there are no normal democratic countries, only medieval theocracies, dictatorships and countries ripped apart by civil wars and religious unrest. But a proper material compensation from the OPEC is a must ! As well as a resettlement of the "palestinian refugees" in the Arab world is needed, because there are huge undeveloped, deserted spaces on the Arab Peninsula. Those lands are waiting for the hands of hard-working, educated and very peaceful "palestinian refugees".
16. Is Germany responsible for Palestinian refugees?
Steve Benassi ,   Silver Bay, MN USA   (11.11.10)
...and are the Palestinians responsible for for Jewish refugees from Middle Eastern countries? Answer: No and No. Jews are the invaders, Palestinians are the defenders. Germany is responsible for what they did to the Jews. The Jews are responsible for what they did to the Palestinians. And Middle Eastern Countries are responsible for their own behavior.
17. #9
Jane   (11.11.10)

23. I agree, unconditionally
Ahamd ,   nablus   (11.11.10)
Yes, I as a Palestinian do accept and recognize that Mizrahi Jews are refugees, therefore, lets solve both refugee's right to either:1- return home,2- receive full compensation, 3- relocate somewhere else, after all it is up to the refugee what option they want. lovely, I am glad that you raised it.
24. Mr Ayalon is the best politician in Israel
David   (11.11.10)
He has courage to say loudly what many people from the real Right (the real patriots) thinks.
25. Number 16: Jews are invaders?
Joe ,   London, UK   (11.11.10)
The word "Palestine" is a Hebrew word - Plashtin - meaning "invaders". And when you say "the Jews are responsible for what they did to the Palestinians" - don't forget that not a single Jew put the refugees into camps in the West Bank and Gaza Strip. That was done by the Jordanians and Egyptians. And they only became refugees because of a war of genocide started by Arabs against the Jews, in the Land of the Jews.
26. Ridiculous
Gabriel ,   Tel Aviv   (11.11.10)
Yes, of course Mizrachim are refugees (so are ashkenazim really) but this is not an issue that the Palestinians are responsible for, it is one that Egypt, Syria, Iraq, etc..are at fault. Bring it up with them.
27. #9 I have another idea
Yossef ,   Toronto/Rehovot   (11.11.10)
Go to Algeria, Constantine and live in my grand-fathe home, in exchange I'll take your home, wherever you are in Palestine. I'm just searching an apartment (I would prefer in J'lem, but I'll be not so difficult). Thus, we solve the problem for two refugees: you and me. Isn't it a great idea ? Signature : Yossef, son of Israel (בני אשראל) P.S. If you agree I'll give you the exact address, then you just have to deal with the algerian government. As I know them, they 'll certainly give you satisfaction.
28. Seriously?!!!
GUH   (11.11.10)
Is this a joke?!!! Are you people seriously that thick?!!!
29. OK, they can have the Right of Return too
Katherine ,   Canada   (11.11.10)
No problem. Jews can have the right of return to the Arab countries they left as well. Just like the Arabs who were expelled from "Israel" should.
30. RIGHT ON TARGET STEVE #16, THE PALESTINIAN WERE
