1. EGYPT'S HIDDEN AGENDA
Ian ,   Newcastle upon Tyne   (11.14.10)
Egypt signed a peace treaty with Israel and takes the USA's money. That's the official policy;so what? There's never been any real indication that the Egyptian government is serious about peace with Israel;it keeps up the illusion as long as the US money keeps coming. I have no doubt that the Egyptian government's hidden agenda is the complete destruction of the State of Israel. It's prepared to play a long, profitable game and it's main tool is the Gaza Strip that it uses as a Trojan Horse to undermine Israel. Of course the Egyptian government will make no more than the occasional show of preventing smuggling into Gaza.Firstly,it's profitable for Egypt.Secondly, and more importantly,a Trojan Horse is pointless unless those within are armed enough to wreak destruction. The US government is obligated to Israel to ensure that Egypt keeps to the Treaty provisions...but it does not live up to its obligation.Obama prefers to bow to Mubarak. It's time to get real about the Israel-Egypt Peace Treaty and the Egyptian government's and the US administration's commitment to it. THREE CHEERS FOR ISRAEL!!!
2. Why is tel aviv more important than Sderot?
Potash Katiftof ,   Tel Aviv, Israel   (11.14.10)
What does it matter if they kill jews in Sderot or Tel Aviv? Why should we allow either options? The government didn't care when it was happening in Sderot, so why should they care more about tel aviv?
3. Egypt is violating Sinai demilitarization by letting them in
Dr. L. Brnd ,   San Diego, USA   (11.14.10)
Egypt's collusion with rocket smuggling into Gaza is preceded by Egyptian violation of the Israel-Egypt peace treaty, which forbids these weapons in the Sinai in the first place. More proof that land-for-peace deals with Arab countries is worthless, as is the US as guarantor of treaties it brokers. The fix here is to demand (as part of any PA state peace deal) that the US deduct reparations for all damage - direct and indirect - done to Israel by Hamas rockets from US aid to Egypt. Or from Palestinian aid. And compensate Israel in full, including a multi-billion dollar aid program to rehabilitate the Sedrot area. Or no PA state deal. Why? Because ultimately a US foreign policy failure is to blame here - Israel should have been given a free hand to wipe the Gaza rocketocracy off the map.
4. Iron Dome
Matt   (11.14.10)
That is one of the concerns of Iron Dome, Hamas will use the tactic of overwhelming rocket fire similar to Hizbullah to make the IDF choose between Serdot and Tel Aviv to try and create a rift between the people and the Government. The people in the south will feel like second class citizens. Also the issue is, will the Tamir be used for protection of civilians or military units. Hizbullah has acquired long range missiles so they can hit Israel from the Be'eka Valley, that means they will use shorter range rockets against IDF units south of the Litani, if deploying the Tamir to protect IDF units and that brings the war to close sooner and thus the rocket fire against civilians then that should be done. So Hizbullah will be firing long range rockets at Israel and once the IDF has control south of the Litani the short range rockets in that AO.
5. Israel blames Egypt?
Israel Israeli ,   Tel Aviv   (11.15.10)
Why is Egypt to blame? Did Egypt allow Hamas to take over Gaza? No, it was Barak. Did Egypt give Hamas international legitimacy? No, it was Barak. Does Egypt give Hamas millions of shekels each month? No, its Barak and Netanyahu
6. Barak is Inane, Even the USA Cannot Win
Dav Lev ,   Burbank.CAUSA   (11.15.10)
Someone blames Barak for everything gone wrong, as if he had some power to avoid it? Israel has 170t men in uniform..and many more in reservies. It doesnt have the capacity to control Leb or the Strip. It is not the USA, which with over 200,000 in Afghan/Iraq is losing those wars. The Taliban have 60m to draw upon.. One soldier, Shalit, is bogging down the entire Israel..while Rome burns. It is pathetic..that 5.5m are held hostage. Israel fought in Leb/tGaza, had its chance, and flubbed it bit time, thanks to US, UN pressure. Israel cannot stop their arming themselves. no way. It can only : related its response if attacked. and hope it gets the message across. Calling up 500,000 reservists..as one friend suggests..for how long? what about the economy, what about the moral of the soldiers, and for what purpose? They cannot stop rocket launches..only missiles/planes, drones, can do that. Lets face it, Israels only defense (credible) is its 500 nukes..and slices both ways.
7. 4 tel. Aviv has all the business infrastructure.
(11.15.10)
It will be a hard decision but that city takes priority like The defence of Moscow in ww2. The next war G.of forbid will make the others pale in comparison. The idf will take the brunt of the rockets but they must level all Lebanese infrastructure and bankrupt the mullahs in iran so that the Iranians revolt. I suspect Hezbollah have dug tunnels into Israel. The idf cannot mess up this one. H.ashen bless the state of Israel, the idf, the Jewish people and her Nobel allies.
8. RIGHT !!!.
Arn. ,   Sweden.   (11.15.10)
Egypt can stop all this smuggling of weapons within 24 hours if they want to do it," the official said Sunday, speaking on condition of anonymity under Israeli security regulations. Arn.
9. NR 1.
Arn. ,   Sweden.   (11.15.10)
WELL - I THINK YOU HAVE A POINT HERE - BECAUSE THE BORDERS OF ISRAEL WRITTEN IN THE BIBLE, HAS AT LEAST A PART OF SINAI PENINSULA, ONE CAN ASSUME THERE MUST BE SOME CAUSE TO THIS. Arn.
