32. You are a big "DUH", Ahmed!! #3- DUH!
Israeli 2   (11.18.10)
Jews = not racists, not sick and not stone age. Jews = intelligence and not marrying everyone but those who love God and Torah. DUH!
33. #29 Ahmad, ok if you don't care
Yossef ,   Toronto/Rehovot   (11.18.10)
Arabs have no problems with intermarriage, well maybe, they are numerous enough. It is not the case for Jews. I have some experience in this field (in my family and large family) and I can tell you also that most of the time intermarriage between Jews and non Jews do not work, proportionally more than with intra-jewish marriages. After such a divorce the kids are lost, sick and depressed (as well as their parents, but to a smallest extend) because they don't understand what world they are part of (the parents know their world, it is not split by such a divorce). It takes time to build an identity when you are just jewish by breast, and I can tell you also that when only your father is jewish, you get rapidly in trouble too: you are not recognized as a Jew but the synagogue but you have a jewish name. It is a kind of schizophrenia from where it is sometime very difficult to recover. If this is not a burden when you are young it can become one when you come older. Even if your parents don't divorce, you have sometime to choose your identity by abandoning the other one, betraying one parent for the other, it can be hard for you and for the non jewish of your parent. Or, you can also not choose anything, but you have to face a big identity problem and a rejection of your two culture, and for what? For the street culture? You Ahmad have not this problem, you are Arab, certainly muslim (maybe christian) from your two parents. It is easy for you to say I am a human being, a world citizen, this will not prevent you to have and cherish your real background, your arab roots. So, please don't be so simplistic. This is a real problem. Take care anyway and חג שמח :-)
34. #6 Dan, I'll blame you
Yossef ,   Toronto/Rehovot   (11.18.10)
because you are not able to give your kids the jewish values/history/roots... You don't need school for that. I have never been in a jewish school but I had a grand-ma who told me Moses story when she was doing couscous, and much more, praying everyday etc... She made me feel jewish before I knew to read and write.

Logic ,   Israel   (11.18.10)
From what I understand, the Christian Arabs will not marry their daughters off to Muslim Arabs. So, even within the Arab community, there are strict barriers.

37. 26 Sarah, Los Angeles: Did you move? Look at the USGS
Rivkah   (11.18.10)
Earthquake map for the last week online for California. Keep checking as it gets worse each week. The big one is coming and Amos the Prophet said YHWH will do nothing except He first tells his servants the Prophets. They say Los Angeles and San Francisco and Oakland are going to be destroyed by earthquakes along the San Andreas faultline. It passes through Riverside and Pomona and San Bernadino and the deep aftershocks will bring down Los Angeles. There is a historian named Josephus who spoke of Rabbi Yeshua and the Roman Annals say he had hair the color of new wine and was the handsomest man alive even as he gave up his life as the Sacrificial Lamb to reconcile sinners to YHWH our Father and Creator. Rabbi Yeshua said he is Yahweh in the Hebraic Roots Version Scriptures. Pastor John Hagee says the Jewish Messiah has not come yet, but the Sacrificial Lamb and Saviour has. Zechariah the Prophet said the Lion of Judah, the Messiah who rescues the Jews in their most perilous hour is the same Jewish Rabbi who was the Sacrificial Lamb of the Spring Feasts of YHWH. The Messiah fulfills the Fall Feasts of YHWH. He was an is and always will be a virgin male. He was born of a virgin female since the DNA of all male humans was corrupted by the sin of Adam. Either Mary (Miriam) was both male and female and fertilized herself or she was of child by the Ruach HaKodesh. When the Jewish Messiah comes from the sky and touches down to the Mount of Olives to deliver Israel and the Jews, the Jews will weep Zechariah says as if they lost their first born son because they will see he is the face on the Shroud of Turin, the face of Rabbi Yeshua as he resurrected from the dead, the first of all who will resurrect who know Him and obey His commandments. I do not pervert or twist the Torah since it is written on my heart. You simply do not read what I say or you try to make it say something else since something is troubling you, something besides a simple post by Rivkah. Think about leaving Los Angeles. The says of some cities in California are numbered for their offenses to YHWH.
38. 27 Sarah, Los Angeles: It is expensive but worth the effort
Rivkah   (11.18.10)
to live among one's own even if that means living in the maid's house of someone who can afford to live there and working as a domestic. It is better to be a doorkeeper or domestic in the house of YHWH's people than to dwell elsewhere. Where there is a will there is a way. There are lots of wealthy elderly Jews who need some help and would take in a family of servants and help them.

But it's not about changing their ideas . It's telling that while this person thinks "if you ...." i would ...but at the same time telling NEVER .
40. Intermarriage in U.S.
Rachel ,   Israel   (11.18.10)
Nowadays in the U.S. unfortunately there are many Jewish grandparents who have no Jewish grandchildren. The majority of Jewish families will disappear as Jews and only the Orthodox will have Jewish descendants. This goes for all of the Diaspora. In Israel of course the situation is much much better, but if we keep bringing non-Jewish immigrants (mostly Russians) and letting in thousands of foreign workers and poor Africans, things will get worse in future generations. We must remain a Jewish state.
41. What did you expect?
Cameron ,   USA   (11.18.10)
Such is the price for leaving the shetl, and being seen as a relative equal.
42. So what marry / live with who you like

area. most of the chritiansruns from there.
44. #3 Ahmad is right!!!
Orthodox woman   (11.18.10)
Human is human, and therefore, one of the things our wise Rabbis introduced in order to keep our Jewish religion alive is conversion. And in Judaism, conversion is mainly about studying. And so are Jewish dayschools. Jewish education has to be affordable and accessible on all levels!
45. 30 .
Charles ,   Petach Tikva   (11.18.10)
I was not "clear" enough i think . It's while a person was writing "black" and thinking "white" [ as this person tells ] And then accusing the other side . Regarding your grandparents : they could NOT discuss about a TV on Shabbat [ LOL , as there was no TV then ] But they most likely agreed on their life before getting married .
46. I'm not in favor of mixed weddings
Charles ,   Petach Tikva   (11.18.10)
I think that in a couple there are enough possible reasons to have disputes , and adding another one ...There is a great difference between people of different origin , with different background . Also for the children . What are they ? They will be seen as Jews for one side , as Gentiles for the other . And this is not only the case for Jewish-Christian , but for all the mixed couples .
47. Goy or jew?
Sebastian ,   Jerusalem   (11.18.10)
With a hand on your heart, if you are a secular jew, what do you prefer, your son marrying a secular goy or an ultra-orthodox jew? Whose lifestyle is closer to yours?

Life is not black or white,it is full of contradictions.People who learn Tora are familiar with all the different facets of phrases.
50. Sebastian
ORA ,   Jerusalem   (11.18.10)
Excellent question! In a marriage it is not only the lifestyle that counts. It is easier to change one s lifestyle than one s soul.Jews and goym have a very different soul. And i am also talking of jews who s soul is disconnected from their source.Very often children from the 3rd generation are waking up,and becoming Baale Tshuva. When we marry,we have also to think about our descendents if we want to live in harmony and happiness with them, later in life.

Charles ,   Petach Tikva   (11.18.10)
In this case it was BLACK and WHITE , nobody can deny it .
52. Marry whoever you want
American Sabrah ,   Israel   (11.18.10)
If I love my pet Rover, I should be able to marry him, shouldn't I? Why should I allow these "moral religious restraints" stand between me and my dog? You may as well make the same case for Gay marriage and legalize pedophilia since its who you love that only matters.Maybe its about time you learn more about your Jewish Heritage than waste your time blasting and ridiculing our traditions. If you are mature enough to understand this, there is a reason why the Torah forbids intermarriage and it has nothing to do with bigotry towards gentiles. Yes people should be able marry who they love but within reason. Most of these interfaith relationships fail or in turbulence and a lot for obvious reasons.
53. Conversion
Dev ,   Jerusalem   (11.18.10)
Instead of freaking out about these high numbers of intermarriage, why don't Jews think about streamlining conversion procedures. There are MANY couples who would gladly go through the conversion process if it wasn't going to be challenged by some rabbi from a different tradition. It is a shame that rabbis are using the conversion issue for their own little power struggles instead of seeing that unity in this matter could strengthen the Jewish community around the world. If people truly want to be a part of our struggle as a people, I say bring them in as soon as possible to help out.
54. 52 American Sabrah: Samson in Scriptures married whoever he
Rivkah   (11.18.10)
wanted to, namely, an idolator named Delilah. He loved her and was so happy near her, having no idea she was controlled by the devil and was out to destroy him. She succeeded where others failed and Samson was imprisoned and later died a prisoner as he brought down the House of Rimon of the Philistines and I hope Delilah was in the crowd. Be not unequally yoked with unbelievers. If an unbelieving spouse departs, let them depart. A believer is then not under bondage to the unbeliever (no long married). But if a believer remarries, it must be "in YHWH". What does that mean? A second marriage must be to a believer.
55. #3AhmedTheHypocrite
RealityCheck ,   Jerusalem Israel   (11.18.10)
Now my dear Ahmed you know if an Arab Moslem girl wanted to marry a non Moslem Jew or Christian Hindu or Chinese she would have her throat cut and a non Moslem girl who marries a Moslem man must convert and bring her children up Moslem isnt that so Ahmed ? why Jews cant even buy a house in an Arab neighborhood in Israel no wonderful liberal Moslem would ever sell to them so who is the sick racist Ahmed ?????

ORA ,   Jerusalem   (11.18.10)
Ridiculising- when angry- friends intime feelings he confided ,that s black.Learning to care, that s white.
57. Some Goys are more Jewish than Jews
Michael ,   Ireland   (11.18.10)
I'm not Jewish, and my Jewish girlfriend gets so bored when I listen to discourses on torah, Jewish legends from the Talmud, and general Jewish history. We're both atheists. Three disabused stereotypes already. I like shabbat to be quiet and peaceful, whereas she'll listen to something horrendous like the beatles or the radio. I'd like to avoid using electricity, she wouldn't bother. In other areas she's more Jewish. She knows the festivals, and keeps her eyes closed to the oppression that has been required to establish and run a Jewish state. I think zionism is ethically bankrupt, which doesn't bother me because it's more humane than any Arab or Muslim country that I know of. It's the hypocrisy that bothers me, whereas she's a zionist full stop. If I have kids with her I'll send them to religious school so they understand Talmud, not because either of us believe in religion but because it's a vigorous mental exercise and a valuable part of world culture. She thinks it's a waste of time. So in the end it might actually be I who is as much responsible for our kids embracing a Jewish character.
