1. nassrallah stands behind his terrorists
jason white ,   afula,israel   (11.15.10)
and refuses to let them be arrested or tried. Not like the I.D.F. high command, the d.m. and the jag. They look for ways to try and jail our soldiers. So our soldiers face both an external and internal enemy.
2. droughts, dangers, and tragedies
choni ,   eretz yisroel   (11.15.10)
Remember what the Lubavitcher Rebbe said -- "even talking about giving away one inch of land" will endanger millions here and upset the entire world. It is a shame to cast your lot with the nations of the world and not the G-d of Yisroel
3. It is all your fault , you know.
Dr. Honey ,   Gaza   (11.15.10)
If the IDF had done what they were supposed to do, we wouldn't have this problem now. Would we?
4. soon Bozo the Clown will seize power in....

Jordan,,then Israel would be Surrounded by The Circular Ruins,Hamas/hizballah and MR;Bozo! what a circus?!?
5. Mao Tse Tung said power is the barrel of a gun.
Rivkah   (11.15.10)
Whoever has the most weaponry rules. The UN is assisting Hezbollah in obtaining armaments I have read. It is time to disband the UN as a terrorist organization that finances terrorists and overthrowing governments. If you want to see how they do it, watch a documentary film called "Katanga".

7. IDF chief observes, predicts, analyses, believes and assumes
Alexander ,   Tel Aviv, Israel   (11.15.10)
But what does he actually do about it? If the purpose of public press conferences is to deliver a strategy or solution of how to deal a permanent fatal blow to Israel's enemies I can understand the logic behind public statements but if that is not the intention I really don't see the point of delivering those public statements except for a morbid death wish or masochism. Ashkenazi, we understand that you enjoy all the attention you get but remember that you have an obligation to your flag, your government, your people and your country and your pay is Israeli taxmoney. If you are not doing anything besides talking crap I suggest you step down and let someone else take over the position as IDF Chief of Staff.
8. #5 is correct about the UN
Chaim ,   Canada   (11.15.10)
The UN is dominated by dictatorships and tyrannical regimes. This is why they support terror and condemn democracies. The UN gives these thugs the forum to spew their hate and convince their own populations that they are here to stay. i.e. no hope for freedom.
9. good
Danny   (11.16.10)
So next time none of this "we are targeting Hizbollah not Lebanon" crap. None of this two faced pretence by "international community" that they are defending anything except a terrorist group
10. #3 - but you were crying "war crimes" the entire time
William ,   Israel   (11.16.10)
With your ilk attacking the IDF on the Intl platform during the war in Lebanon while ignoring the war crimes of Hizbullah, you basically helped keep Nasrallah in power. And since the IDF doesn't run Lebanon, there are plenty more groups that deserve blame there, from Jamblatt when he sold his soul to Syria and Iran who keep the tensions going. The Christians and the Druze kept quiet, so this is the bed they have to lie in. I'm looking forward to the day when the IDF returns to Gaza to finish the job we should have back in Cast Lead. Will you run to aid Hamas or finally throw of the yoke of their oppression at that time?
11. #5, #7, You are absolutely right

There's no escape from creating a League of Democracies instead of the ludicrous U.N.
12. Lebanon
Phil Cattar ,   Myakka City,USA   (11.16.10)
There is simply no way Israel, the US ,the christian and sunni lebanese and perhaps the other sunni countries in the area can sit back and let Hizbullah,Iran and Syria take over Lebanon.Israel will have Iran sitting at its border.Let us hope the White House is AWAKE enough to realize this. The United States and Israel MUST help the moderate Sunni,Christians and Druze in Lebanon to stop this from happening.Nasrallah and the Iranian leaders ,along with Hamas ,sence there is a weak sister in the white house and will most likely make their move before the Americans elect a stronger president. They need to be smashed hard once and forever.

The article mentions a small group within the Lebanese Army is assisting the Shiite Hezbollah ,so how small is this so called small group and how difficult can it be to isolate and then take their leaders out ?
15. Correction - Hezbollah will ATTEMPT takeover
Sammy ,   Newcastle   (11.16.10)
Its not as easy as it sounds 1. Hezbollahs so called power rests primarily in its rockets which cant be used against the Lebanese Army easily 2. The Lebanese Army crucially have Tanks and Heavy Weapons which are far more effective against Hezbollah 3. At least 2 in 5 Hezbollah fighters on the ground may refuse to fight fellow Lebanese 4. Lebanese Intelligence are completely clued up not only about Hezbollahs deployments but crucially they know where Nasrallah is holed up every minute of every day. In addition they monitor all traffic between Hezbollah and Teheran 5. In fact the groundswell of public opinion now believes this is as good a time as any to do the inevitable....destroy Hezbollah for good because there is the confidence that the Lebanese Army is capable of victory 6. That so long as Ahmadinejad doesnt try to interfere.......
16. #12. Phil. The Lebanese Army is alot tougher than you think!
Sammy ,   Newcastle   (11.16.10)
Im sure that no Lebanese wants Israel to intervene But consider this... Whilst Syria and Turkey find themselves in a moral quandary - support their so called friend Ahmadinejad or support the nation state of Lebanon? I believe that if Lebanon called on help which would be unlikely - There would be a military coalition headed by the US and supported by the UN together with Arab States - possibly Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Jordan, North African States who together would have more than enough strength to completely destroy Hezbollah and save Lebanon

I think that you can safely leave Turkey out of the equation. They are a member of NATO (although quite probably not for very much longer; and certainly not if they interfere in Lebanon). Besides, the Turks do a lot of tough talking, but they have not been tested militarily in quite a while (unless you count the invasion of Cyprus in 1974, and I don't). A more effective scenario would be the United States engaging in some gunboat diplomacy -- anchoring a substantial portion of the Sixth Fleet along the Lebanese coast from Beirut all the way to Tripoli. (Tyre and Sidon would be Israel's headache.) But the current administration doesn't have the stones to do that. I'm also pretty sure that even crazy Nasrallah realizes that if so much as one missile is fired into northern Israel, Hizbollah is doomed. With a little less concern for collateral damage than in 2006.

I hope you are correct but think you overestimate the Lebanese Army and underestimate the enemy.Lebanese intelligence may know where Nasrallah is at all times but Saad Harriri and Walid Jumblatt are well aware the Syrians know where they are also, just as the Syrians knew where their fathers were.If Lebanese intelligence was so good how did Harriri get killed in the first place. In the last few face to face between Hizbullah and the other Lebanese the Christian,Druse ,Sunni side blinked. The airport incident and the attempt by Hizbullah to get into the "congress".I fear that Hiz,Syria,Hamas and the Iranians are more united and determined. If something happened quickly the US would have to talk about it rather than do anything. We are already overstretched .And I am not so sure the Israelis woud not sit on their hands confused either.
