Sadly, the group that leasts appreciates culture and open society are those who claim they are for it. These Leftists calls for harsh boycotts of culture and academics in Israel yet claim to support the bridge-building role of academics and culture. Israel did not have these left wing problem so much, until recently. Today, many Israelis have problem pledging allegiance to Israel as a Jewish State. Why do you think the Israeli society has changed a lot for the past 20 years? There are cultural problems and religious problems between Mizrahi and Ashkanazi Jews. There a Nazi sympathizers beating Jews on subway in Israel. Look at the demographic changes taking place. About 1 million Russian "Jews" have migrated to Israel. Among them 300,000 don't consider themselves as Jewish and the rest call themselves as "secular". I'm not saying that Russian migration is wrong but there is something wrong or something "NON SEMITIC" about all this. That's what I feel.
