1. I've said it in the past, and I'll say it again
Tahl ,   Ashdod   (11.16.10)
The worst Jews in the world, in terms of post-Zionism, cowardly diasporic mentality and self-hatred, come from Britain. Of course I cannot generalize about all British Jews (most of whom are fine), I'm just referring to the large group of rotten ones.
2. Civilized ways
Ricardo Macher ,   Karnei Shomron IL   (11.16.10)
I do understand that this "people" have the right to say whatever they want. I do know that civilized ways are nearly always the best approach to solve problems. But..... there are moments that people deserve a punch in the nose to make things clear to them!
3. instead of complaining......
tiki ,   belgium   (11.16.10)
Sue the magazin and the individual journalists. Make them 'prove their claims. Let them put their money where their mouth is. Free speech is right and just, but spreading lies and unproved CLAIMS to a wider (usually ignorant) public is not. In a 1919 US Supreme Court Ruling it was stated: "False statements, which could inflict harm on others are NOT protected by free speech". I think the writers of those discusting articles fall into this category!
4. It is funded by donations ,...

5. Thanks. I'll make sure to pick up a copy of LRB next week
Nour ,   Palestine   (11.16.10)
6. Challenge Them
EM ,   Ra'anana   (11.16.10)
I agree with #4! Yitzhak La'or, for one, should be challenged to prove his claims. He should be required to document the "dozens" of villages that have been "starved" . His claim that Israel develops high rates of infant mortality (among the Arab sector) is especially offensive and should not be left unchallenged. .
7. This is libel
Madeleine ,   Israel   (11.16.10)
Not a lawyer but I'm sure the statements the article cites from the magazine are surely libelous, pure and simple and as such, are actionable under law. I wonder how many of the peple making these statements have ben to Israel. As for Israelis jaumping on the "I hate Zionism, I hate Israel" bandwagon, they are even worse. Either work for change within your own country (Israel) or leave and shut up, but don't incite the ignorant against us.
8. 7 - it's not libellous
Vernon Marriott ,   Tel Aviv   (11.16.10)
Libelling a sovereign state (even if you don't think it should exist) is not actionable under English law I'm afraid.
9. Not Chickens or Cats... Donkeys
Johan Odin ,   Oslo, Norway   (11.16.10)
Anyone who follows Israel knows that Israel's former chief rabbi has stated quite clearly that Goyim are "Donkeys" whose very existence is to serve Jews, so the paper should immediately publish an apology along with a correction clarifying that non-Jews are like Donkeys; not cats.
10. #3: Good Idea, But . . .
emanon ,   USA   (11.16.10)
US Supreme Court decision apply only in America. This magazine is British and subject to their laws which are not necessarily the same. I don't know if it applies in the UK, but in the US you can't be sued for having an opinion, even if it is patently false.
11. 'Just Journalism' is a pro-Israel advocacy group
Ben Alofs ,   Bangor, UK   (11.16.10)
One can hardly call this club neutral, particularly as Labour Friends of Israel stalwart, the Rt Hon.Denis MacShane MP, is the chief advisory board member. I have read some of the previous output by 'Just Journalism'. It makes one think whether it was set up specifically to counter the bad press Israel is receiving due to its long running oppression of the Palestinian people, the occupation of Palestinian lands and the worsening political climate in Israel, where dissenting opinions in defense of Palestinian rights or the Palestinian narrative are hardly or no longer tolerated. Six years ago Glasgow University exhaustively researched the contents of the television news on the Israel-Palestine issue, the main source of information for about 80% of the population in the UK. The conclusion was that its contents was very poor, with people being unable to make sense of the origins of the history of the conflict. Many people even thought that it was Palestinians occupying Israeli territory! The research also found that Israelis were interviewed or reported more than twice as much as Palestinians. Regarding the LRB, I do not find it surprising that most people who love literature, poetry, the arts, also love freedom of expression and love living life in freedom! That is why many support the struggle of the Palestinians. Israel has become its own worst enemy!!
12. The British have NEVER been balanced
bob96 ,   Tel Aviv, Israel   (11.16.10)
There's one fact always overlooked when talking about the Arab-israeli problem: The British created it! Decades before 1948, they started instigating arab violence against the jews, and, up to the last day, took every possible way to harm the jewish settlement in Palestine, which was, by the way, the MANDATE they had to promote! Why? Very simple: They wanted Palestine to be another colony from Britain, and the jews were the obstacle. And we have paid a monstruous price in blood for over 60 years, thanks to that "policy". Look what they did in 1948 (quoted from the book of Shmuel Katz - Fact and Fantasy in Palestine): "When, immediately after the United Nations Assembly decision, the Palestine Arabs launched their preliminary onslaught on the Jewish community, the British Army gave them considerable cover and aid. It obstructed Jewish defense on the ground; it blocked the movement of Jewish reinforcements and supplies to outlying settlements; it opened the land frontiers for the entry of Arab soldiers from the neighboring Arab states; it maintained a blockade in the Mediterranean and sealed the coast and ports through which alone the outnumbered Jews could expect reinforcements; it handed over arms dumps to the Arabs. When Jaffa was on the point of falling to a Jewish counterattack, it sent in forces from Malta to bomb and shell the Jewish force. Meanwhile, it continued to supply the Arab states preparing to invade across the borders with all the they asked for and made no secret of it. ".
13. #5, thanks your acknowledgment of
Oren ,   Israel   (11.16.10)
your open hatred towards Jews just keeps it easy for Israel to be the leading supplier of Academic papers per capita and the strongest economy in the region, so that its people may continue to prosper. Your ignorance is appreciated!
14. To number 9
Allan ,   London, England   (11.16.10)
A very interesting way to end your post by saying that the LRB loves freedom of expression, literature, poetry and the arts. Funny how in Gaza there is none of those things, as Gaza is under Hamas/Sharia law, and all of that is banned, there is no freedom of expression or any rights. Perhaps you should think about that before cheering on Hamas and the Palestinians. But then you sound like so many left wing british, who have sided with Hamas, AQ and Chavez, that democracy means nothing to you. Your own lost wing views are your and Englands worst enemy as you have sided not with democracy and freedom, but with the side of oppression and Fitna (submission) but lets see if you want to answer why you support Hamas and the targetting of Israeli civilians? And before you even bother spouting UAF rubbish, EDL knows the facts.
15. No. 11 Ben
Madeleine ,   Israel   (11.16.10)
First, Glasgow inparticular and Scotland in general are quite well kbnown for anti-Israel views so I wonder just how unbiased their Exhaustive research was. Second, I would suggest that you and anyone else who see the poor Palis as the underdog and Israel as the vicious oppressor, take a tour of Gaza and of Israel, speaking to the ordinary man - or woman - in the street. I promise you that among Israelis you will find a yearnign for piece, and hardliners aside in either community - a readiness to reach out a hand to the Palistinians. On the Palis side, while they "just want to earn a living and manage their family life" you'll find very little willingness to live side by side with us. You won't find Israelis gloriifying death, talking with pride of sending their children to die a martyrs' death, or the filth and lies that the Palis constantly spount. We don't teach our young children songs of war and bloodshed or hatred, as do the Palis. And, in case you are totally unaware, what they ay in Arabic is rather different from what they say to the West. They have been caught out in lies time and time again. Let me also remind you of the many Palestinians treated in our hospitals, the many Pali doctors working and training in our hospitals. And yes, there are many hardline Palis who under no circumstances will accept treatment at an Israeli hospital - they'd rather die or suffer. And in case you are thinking of citing long delays at checkpoints for those coming to Israel for treatment, well Ben, that's because so often terrorists are hidden in ambulances and weapons time and again concealed under the loose garments of their women folk. Maybe you're not feeling the Islamification of Britain sitting snug in Anglesey, but I assure you it's well under way - just ask Brits in many of the Midland towns, and many parts of London where ordinary Brits cannot go, not even the police. Let's hear you talk when you have Islamified areas of Bangor.
16. Britain, the home of the UNHOLY TRINITY: Classic...
Jehudah Ben-Israel ,   Qatzrin, Israel   (11.16.10)
...anti-Semites, "progressive" anti-Jewish racists, 7th century based Islamists. Nothing connect these three segment of society but the deep hate of the nation-state of the Jewish people, Israel, and by extension the people whose nation-state Israel is. The Guardian, the Independent, the BBC and the London Review of Books are the gathering places for "members" of the UNHOLY TRINITY.
17. 1 Tahi - a distinction must be made
S Judah ,   Jerusalem   (11.16.10)
You are absolutely right, there is a bunch of vile , disgusting , revolting "Jews" who take joy in attacking Israel. However know this, they are not Jewish by practice, they are outside the Jewish community. They are pork eaters and have all married outside. And the only time they pronounce they are Jewish is when they come to attack Israel.
18. Meccaland
izzie irgun ,   zion   (11.16.10)
I think the expose proves that the brits are nothing more than ccommon anti semites who are enough clever to use self hating jews to make thier points for them. Just how cozy it is with the brits having their team of pathetic jews whose egos bask in trying to out dehumanize Israel with these over the top compariosns. I believe that the LRB counts on being anti semitic to keep its magazine sales going. Anyone doubt it? But who cares any more. We all know that the brits are among the world's leading anti semiles just like the Irish, (and i can hardly wait for them to go bankrupt and suffer the degrading reality of being broke yum yum )... and now they are a 2 bit second place player on the world stage. In fact, Israel is likely to surpass england as being an influential world leader any day now .. it already has in terms of technology. Reality is that england has become an outpost of the Palestinians as their society is taken over by Muslims. Bye Bye england, pretty soon you will be renamed Meccaland ... The church of england will make a beautiful mosque. hahahahahaha
19. The " As a Jew " phenomenon
Harvey ,   London   (11.16.10)
I only had to glance through the article before coming to the headline " As a Jew " comment from Wilmers . The " As a Jew brigade" are always there standing with the Palestinian demonstrators at anti Israel rallys ,university debates ,boycott meetings etc They allow so called reform synagogues to host many of these meetings . They take full page signed adverts in the broadsheets in order to declare themselves as the " Good Jews " , the ones who place Palestine and the Palestinians before all else. They inevitably stand with an assortment of antisemites , and delegitimisers of Israel ie those who have no interest in any form of 2 state solution demanding instead that Israel forfeit its independent identity to be replaced with one Islamic state .A state where Jews would be allowed to live [ those living there before 48 of course] and as Dhimmi The " As a Jew " in his desperate attempt to ingratiate himself to the haters is prepared to ignore these facts . He wheels out his Jewish ethnicity as a badge of honour even though doubtless it remains firmly locked in the closet the rest of the year . The " As a Jew " believes his Palestinian and far left friends will love and respect him as a " Good Jew " . The reality is he is still a Jew to be despised and vilified behind his back The "As a Jew "ignores the background hushed antisemitic commentary and passes it off as the words and actions of a minority . I believe its akin to Stockholm Syndrome . I attend many pro Israel counter demonstrations and university debates here in London . The truth is ,sad as it may seem ,that I despise these sell out Jews for their craven support for those who would see the end of Israel .No doubt they are an excellent fillip to the Palestinian propaganda machine but they will always be Kapos to the rest of us .

Its not donkeys you need to worry about but Lambs because Norway like Sweden and the rest of Europe is in the process of being Dimmified and you are like the proverbial " Lambs to the Slaughter "

NOT make them Jews or Jewish!
22. Telling The Truth Is Not Anti-Semitic
World Citizen ,   the world   (11.16.10)
Israel has gotten a free pass in days past. But the internet has changed that. No longer will your government be able to commit war crimes and crimes against humanity and go on as if they stand on high moral ground. If you, the citizens of Israel, stand behind your government then you too are guilty. Israel is willfully destroying it's very reason for existing. We criticize you because we are trying to save you. You should heed our warnings before it is too late.
23. The English will soon become the slaves of Islam & sharia!
Good riddance   (11.16.10)
24. re:Civilized ways
William Wilkes ,   London   (11.16.10)
By your logic, people will be constantly punching each other in the nose to put their points across. I am a former amateur boxer, I can really convince people then.
25. High rates of infant mortality?
Norwegian citizen ,   Oslo, Norway   (11.16.10)
During 20 years of Arab rule Palestinian infant mortality rate decreased from 200 per thousand to 170 per thousand. During the next 20 years of Israeli rule Palestinian infant mortality rate decreased from 170 per thousand to 60 per thousand... Source: Middle East Facts
26. LRB -Talkback 1
Julian ,   London   (11.16.10)
Before maligning British Jewry, note the 2 individuals mentioned, Yitzhak Laor and Ilan Pappe, are both of Israeli origin.
27. #3 I agree to sue them is a good idea
(11.16.10)
28. #22 I think it quite the opposite, all the lies told about
(11.16.10)
Israel are now easy to see because of the internet ..... I think you better take a better look at what you see !!!
29. To # 24 William
Ricardo Macher ,   Karnei Shomron IL   (11.16.10)
Dear William, I don't know for you, but for me, a traitor is one of the lowest kind of human been that can be found. That's why I propose to punch this traitors. If somebody would have punched really hard Hitler, maybe the world would be different, but Chamberlain and others thought like you and were afraid to resolve things like men. More than that, boxing is for gentlemen (or was) street aggression is different. So please think twice if they deserve it or not!
30. British Jews
Adam ,   London / Zichron   (11.16.10)
British Jews were lucky enough not to get a taste of the Nazi's , down the line I believe this has had a direct effect on their attitude toward Israel, this is especially true of many of the upper middle class.Britsh Jews who believe through the generations as they have educated and prospered they have become part of the fabric of British society and would look upon Israel in a very English cucumber sandwich non Jewish way. Very sad situation, I pity the fools !!
