1. we don't know the facts
Israel Israeli ,   Tel Aviv   (11.16.10)
We don't know the facts of the case, but we can comment about NIOF-funded Yesh Din's statement that "90% of complaints filed...end without indictment". That is because 90% of the complaints are false and have no evidence.
2. Sometimes these kids are beaten up by other Arabs
Mark ,   USA   (11.16.10)
and then blame the Jews. There is a history of this. I agree with #1. We need more facts.
3. Yesh Din is NOT a human rights group
Brian Cohen ,   Judean Peoples Front   (11.16.10)
Yesh Din ignores Palestinian human rights abuses, and does not pursue Palestinian war criminals or abusers of human rights. This means that Yesh Din is a pro-palestinian lobby group, and not a human rights group. Yesh Din does not defend the rights of Jews who are the victims of Palestinian human rights abuses. Yesh Din does not demand the immediate cessation of Palestinian violence and the prosecution of Palestinians who attack Jews. Yesh Din is yet another example of the modern sickness that says Palestinians have the right to commit human rights atrocities with impunity. Shame on Yesh Din for not supporting universal human rights.
4. it's a sad story, but....
Michael ,   Haifa   (11.16.10)
...the hilarious side to it is that there exists something which calls itself "The Yesha Human Rights Organization"
5. Criminal behavior
Gary ,   Los Angeles   (11.16.10)
This is a just conviction. A court found the defendant guilty. Kidnapping and physical abuse must be punished ... no matter who or where. It's a disgrace.
6. No Michael, it's just a sad story and no buts
Brian Cohen ,   Judean Peoples Front   (11.16.10)
Strange, Michael, but 4 of your fellow citizens were shot and killed last month in a cold blooded murder. Two were women, one of them pregnant. Why do you think it's funny that there's a human rights organization standing up for them? You won't hear B'Tselem calling for support for the orphans. You won't see Yesh Din demanding the Palestinian gunmen be arrested, tried, and sentenced for their crimes. And the week after the murders, Palestinians tried to kill more of your fellow citizens, and almost killed another pregnant woman. Doctors saved both her and the baby. You think this is funny? You find humor in the fact that there is a rights organization exactly where human rights organizations have abandoned Jews to Palestinian terrorists? Sounds extreme, but them's the facts. You might not like "settlers", but there are several hundred thousand of us. We're human beings. We have human rights. The facts are there for all to see: Palestinians attack Israelis all the time, yet no human rights group consistently stands up and insists and demands that the Palestinians stop their attacks and prosecute the attackers. And there's always a rosh katan like you to smirk and think that because you live a few dozen kilometers from the border you're immune. How quickly you forget - especially in Haifa where dozens of "settlers" have also been murdered. Yes, Michael, according to the Palestinians you are a settler, and Jewish homes in Haifa are a "settlement".
7. Beating
Alex ,   Columbia, USA   (11.16.10)
A historical reversal: not too long ago, a Jewish boy found in the fields by European or Arab farmer, would be beaten and usually left dead in the fields. There would be no investigation conducted by authorities, only a shoulder shrug and a whisper about victim being a "Jew."
8. Israeli likely provoked at best
BH ,   Iowa   (11.16.10)
set up at worst.
9. Convicted but any punisment will be minimal
Leon   (11.16.10)
So the TBs claim facts not known - indictment told and conviction determined - still Israel Israeli says what are the facts ? -but he knows the facts of 90% of the cases no problem there. And Mark knows that it is most often Arabs beating them selves up to blame Israelis and Michael finds humor in the story as well. You have a known serial criminal child (sexual) abuser who has a repeatedly attacked the same child and oh well don't try and get Zvi Struk to name his co conspirator I mean settlers are already so busy and distracted just give them a break. And give him a suspended sentence he has people to see outposts to build.
10. #7 Alex - Beating - historical reversal
Leon   (11.16.10)
What you are saying is that now in Israel, Jewish Settlers beat Palestinians, leave them in fields, and whisper a "Pal" - Do the settlers smile as well? Do you?
11. Amazing how you DEFEND this settler monster
David   (11.16.10)
What is amazing to me here is the responses. This settler monster was CONVICTED on several counts. That means there was sufficient evidence to convict despite Israel's best attempts NOT to punish settlers for committing crimes against Palestinians. This settler kidnapped a Palestinian child, beat him mercilessly, took his clothes off for who knows what reason, and left him for dead in a field. And you people are defending this monster and making excuses? You are just as sick and disgusting as he is and you should be ashamed to call yourselves Jews.
12. To #1 = and what could the facts be?
TR ,   Tel-Aviv   (11.16.10)
Then perhaps we shouldn't read the papers at all, since we can never know the facts...And what can the facts be? Could the kid have tied himself to the tractor? Do you think Palestinians beat him up and he just blamed it on Struk? Or perhaps you think he deserved to have been dragged by a tractor?
13. Complaints that end without indictment ...
Amy ,   off rt 40   (11.17.10)
... end that way often because there's not enough evidence that a crime was committed. I've got no doubt that there are quite a few crimes perpetrated by Jews in the West Bank against Arabs that are never prosecuted. However, the line "90% are never indicted" is just inflammatory nonsense that tells us nothing. It implies that 90% of proven crimes are never punished, when it does no such thing. It could just as easily mean that 90% of Palestinian complaints against Jews in the West Bank are found to be baseless.
14. More religious values from the settlers
Avi ,   Israel   (11.17.10)
Guess this is what they mean by religious values of which they are so keen to promote.
15. Who knows if this is true
Bruriah Sarah   (11.17.10)
It was only 2 weeks ago, that it was found that arabs and leftists had set fire to the fields and were trying to blame the Jews. However, this time, there was video capturing everything. who knows if this is true.
16. son of Yesha Human Rights Organization head
observer   (11.17.10)
the charge of "intent to cause severe bodily injury and three more counts of assault.'" wasn't attempted murder.
17. Abuser
Marilyn ,   USA   (11.17.10)
Someone that is willing to do it to one person, would be almost as willing to do the same to someone totally different such as you or me. It's just scary.
18. Yesh Din is Concerned with the procedure, not the result
observer   (11.17.10)
the defects are pervasive, beginning with handling the case at the site, failing to record evidence and extending to an absence of serious investigation. Yesh Din's monitoring of the files shows defects at every stage of enforcement of the law. At the stage of committing the offenses the soldiers stand by and do nothing, they don't know, they don't want to know, they don't enforce the law, they don't protect the civilians. At the stage of filing complaints it is difficult for Palestinians to file complaints and when they do manage to file a complaint in many cases the complaint is lost. At the investigation stage usually the investigation is a negligent and basic investigative actions are not carried out. Ultimately the investigations reach a very dire situation with more than 90% of the files ending unsolved. http://www.yesh-din.org/site/index.php?page=presscoverage&id=9&lang=en to #3,6 Brian Cohen of Judean Peoples Front, why is the Yesh Din pro-Palestinians? because, it has been organized to oppose the continuing violation of Palestinian human rights in the Occupied Palestinian Territory. The Yesha Human Rights Organization, a different organization from Yesh Din, reports on the status of human rights AMONG the JEWS of Judea, Samaria and Gaza. the many security men- hiding behined those SETTLER civilians- use them as human shields by Israel's own standard. “The holy martyr, Baruch Goldstein, is from now on our intercessor in heaven. Goldstein did not act as an individual; he heard the cry of the land of Israel, which is being stolen from us day after day by the Muslims. He acted to relieve that cry of the land... The Jews will inherit the land not by any peace agreement but only by shedding blood!” said Rabbi Israel Ariel Eulogizing. Settlers!, go back into your country Israel; the West Bank is internationally recognized OCCUPIED land.
19. Orit Struk could have provided her 28YO baby with a camera
observer   (11.17.10)
to record how 15YO boy abused him.
20. settlers are for destroying the state
observer   (11.17.10)
If Jews continue presence in the West bank over centuries and hold documents of ownership of land; then why it's the right of the the settlers alone to build on UNCLAIMED land. Pioneer settlers were struggling against Britons and Arabs to make a state, contemporary settlers are for destroying the state.
21. Typical
Chocko ,   New Yorker in ME   (11.17.10)
Isnt it amazing how you can delude yourselves by saying it was. A) This Pallies fault for being in the wrong place at the wrong time. B) He must have deserved it, after all, he ais a Pally. C) He was beaten by other Arabs D) Maybe he fell over himself. E) Everyone is against us. But then again, A) God is on your side B) Your Sick.... Truly Sick.... or maybe C) Im just anti-semitic..... But I cant be AS... I actually like Arabs
22. Double standard
Raphael ,   Netanya   (11.17.10)
On may 8th 2001, Koby Mandell 13, and Yosef Ish-Ran 14, were stoned to death in a cave in the Judean hills. Ever heard the slightest protest from Yesh Din?
23. no.22
hebrew prophet ,   israel   (11.17.10)
Two young Israeli lads just enjoying their day in the Judean hills but stoned to death by who and why ;so let Choko number 21 give us his/her Arab/Palestinian reasons as to the silence from Yesh Din or maybe he/she cannot see the hypocrisy ?
24. Orit Struk
Robby Martin ,   Dublin Ireland   (11.17.10)
Typical of the inhumanity of people who live on stolen land
25. settlers
phrage frenta ,   hy brasil atlantis   (11.17.10)
are all the settlers sadistic lunatics ? A UN force to expel them from Palestine is long overdue -any other nation other than Israel that had defied so many UN resolutions for so long would have been sanctioned to surrender or invaded by now.
26. yes
cs ,   macon, usa   (11.18.10)
I'm sure the settler was provoked at best and set up at worst, just as you say. I suppose you also subscribe to the notion that all rape victims are sluts that are asking for it?
27. to 1
Also Israel Israeli ,   Tel Aviv   (12.11.10)
So what youre saying is that you have no facts about this case but that you do have enough facts about the 90% of the other complaints that yesh din are talking about to say that they're false?
