1. Israel thinks this will earn them credit with the UN.
Raymond in DC ,   Washington, USA   (11.17.10)
A government statement says that "in this way Israel continues to show its commitment to Security Council Resolution 1701". This move will not earn Israel any credit, only more troubles. The residents certainly don't want it. Some residents with Israeli citizenship will be "returned" to Lebanon though they have "no connection to Lebanon" and still consider themselves Syrian. What a mess.
2. no.1
hebrew prophet ,   israel   (11.17.10)
SAo what exactly is it you would like to happen Raymond as you don,t mention it ?
3. UN
hebrew prophet ,   israel   (11.17.10)
UN Resolution 1701 stipulated that Israel withdraw from all of Lebanon including the northern part of Ghajar which Israel is abiding by so what about UN Resolution 1551 and other reolutions that stipulated Hezbollah be disarmed and removed from south of the Litani River ,in 2006 yet more double standards from the inept UNSC ?
4. bad news, good news
Israel Israeli ,   Tel Aviv   (11.17.10)
This is bad news for the good people of Ghajar who Netanyahu is selling out even though they want to be Israeli. It is good news because it sets the legal and moral precedent for Lieberman's plan. If a new Arab state is established in Judea and Samaria, it will be a good idea to withdraw Israeli citizenship from the violent racists of Um El Fahem and let them enjoy Fatah rule.
5. For every solution there is a problem

6. #4 Umm al-Fahm will be in Palestine.
(11.17.10)
Assuming there ever is one.
7. who's screwing whom?
tom ,   toronto, canada   (11.17.10)
i think it is a bad idea to betray your friends, even if they happen to be arabs. aside from the wishes of the villagers (and "little people" have even less influence in the arab world than we can imagine), abandoning ghajar does more harm to israel's credibility among other friendly arabs than it would to stand up for them. it will be a clear example of how reliable israeli friendship is, for the next arab village that wants to cooperate with israel. israel can and should make the argument that lebanon has fulfilled none of its obligations under unscr 1701, to disarm militias and to prevent hezbollah from re-establishing its operations south of the litani river. and therefore israel, having fulfilled most of its terms, including withdrawal, can and should make the remainder conditional on lebanese compliance. only fools would pay, in advance, for (nonexistent) goods. when arabs try to be good neighbours, and live in peace, they are risking their lives. why should they risk their lives on a feckless and foolish israel?
8. #7 You are right but
Yossef ,   Toronto/Rehovot   (11.17.10)
they seem to want to be Syrian, not that much Israeli. We must maybe give up the whole village. Who decided such a partition ? It's crazy.
9. withdrawal with your tail between your legs
Hassan Nasrallah ,   Lebanon   (11.17.10)
10. Utterly Despicable and Ruthless
Linda Rivera ,   New York   (11.17.10)
Dividing the good people of Ghajar and making them suffer to please the humanity haters at the UN. Israel makes another disgusting surrender and each time she surrenders, many innocents get hurt.
11. Hizbullah will take over. Another victory for terrorists
Linda Rivera ,   New York   (11.17.10)
And another shameful betrayal by Israeli leaders.
12. on #3 the UN
joel ,   usa   (02.07.11)
this sounds reasonable and fair, but who should trust the UN, some years ago a UN official exposed the "corruptions" inside the UN, and most american sentiments want the UN out of the usa.
