I like what you have written so far, but I would like to add a few things - hopefully, you'll agree. In my experience, people like Edithann should not be reasoned with. They only understand force! People like him do not need to be lectured to or be shamed, for they don't get it. You can't dialogue with them, that's all. What they do understand is when they get beaten physically. That's one of the reasons why prejudice against Jews is different than xenophobia against blacks or Hispanics. Most whites racists are somewhat scared of blacks, but no one's afraid of a few Jews beating them to death. Only by being physically assertive and beating the crap out of these bigots can we teach them to behave/put them in their place. Reacting to their prejudice in a bookish way only reinforces their hatred. Just my .02.

Harper's words may be reassuring to Jews in Canada and Israel, but very soon there will be a changing of the guard, someone who will do the bidding of the anti-Israel crowd. Anti-Semitism in the US and Canada will grow to an alarming rate. It's just a question of whether my fellow Jews in North America will do the right thing and flee to Israel or will they merely opt for converting to other faiths. The world has tried for centuries to destroy the Jewish faith, but we're still here. When will they learn?

Stephen Harper and the leader of the opposition, Mr. Ignatieff, have taken a principled stand, something very uncommon in the political arena. This is one of the reasons I am proud of being a Canadian and love this country. Not too long ago, Mr. Harper made a public apology to the Native people of Canada for the generations long atrocities committed upon them. And the Japanese people, committed Canadians who were deprived of their property and livelihoods during WWII, an official apology went out to them. There is a certain nobility of spirit about this nation in spite of its many flaws.

In my post #23, I asked very simple questions and the contributors of this talkabc have responded with typical israeli vitriol. Why? The qustions are simple, so simple that even an Israeli can understand them: 1) Is antisemitism the same as anti-zionism? One is a construct of hating 'who you are' rather than 'what you do'. Is this so hard to understand? 2) Would the words of Rabbi Ovadia Yusef be tolerated if he was the spiritual head of a political party in Europe, condemning Jews instead of goys? If not, then why haven't Israelis condemned such words? Anyone? Does such reasoning, or the lack thereof contribute to what you see as the 'antisemitic' feeling? Where do you draw the line between what is acceptable and what is unacceptable? Is it only unacceptable when such language or actions have Jews as the victims of such hatred? What if the Jews are promulgating such hatred against another group? Whether Arab or Euriopean, Christain or muslim? If you don't see your contribution to the problem, and instead continually proclaim your innocent 'victimhood'. is it a surprise that fewer and fewer are listening to you at all?

I am 71 and I well remember world war II so no one needs to inform me about whose side the jews were on. They were victims beyond belief.
