1. HAR HAR HAR!!!
David ,   Haifa Israel   (11.23.10)
this coming from thugs who launch rockets at us and gun down pregnant mothers.
2. Israel has laws, the PA is a group of thugs
Laura ,   Jerusalem Israel   (11.23.10)
3. What, and peace depends on the Palestinians? Oy vay!
Brian Cohen ,   Judean Peoples Front   (11.23.10)
Erekat, a known liar, does anything and everything to make sure the Palestinians stay away from peace negotiations. All evidence and statements by Palestinian officials shows that they do not want peace and will stay away from the peace talks simply because they never intend to sign a peace treaty.
4. Little people
Ricardo Macher ,   Karnei Shomron IL   (11.23.10)
This ignorant Erekat seems to ignore what democracy is! He is of course used to kingdoms where the kings voice is law! Please!!! Is this the person we have to negotiate with???
5. Perhaps I am missing something here...
Andrew Brehm   (11.23.10)
Which "international law" exactly said that "East-Jerusalem" was supposed to be under Palestinian souvereignty? If I remember correctly international law said that Jerusalem was supposed to be an international zone for ten years. That was broken by the Jordanians when they annexed Jerusalem and they lost it to Israel. Where do the Palestinians come in?
6. Current "International laws"being controlled by oci
Trumpeldor   (11.23.10)
No one serious will take them into consideration
7. What peace process?
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (11.23.10)
"critically damages the possibility of reviving the peace process." No, what "critically damages" the so-called "peace process" (as if the "Palestinians" were interested in peace!) is the "Palestinians" trying to constantly up the ante, to get more and more concessions while making none. The game is over. The "Palestinians" have been shown to be the frauds Israel has always known they are. They are not in the least bit interested in peaceful co-existence; they merely want to supplant Israel. They refuse to recognize the right of the State of Israel to exist in its ancient homeland; they refuse to recognize the essential and unique nature of the State of Israel as a Jewish state; they refuse to repudiate their vile and repugnant charters which call for the destruction of the State of Israel and the extermination and/or expulsion of the Jewish people. Well, the "Palestinians" have been outed. Too bad. Predictably enough, Abbas and his cohorts thought they could get away with more than they deserved. Now it is up to the Israeli people. Game, set, match. The "Palestinians" can go to Jordan; they can go back to the Hejaz in Western Arabia. They can go anywhere in the world they wish where someone may be willing to allow them entry. But their days in Medinat Israel are numbered. Boruch Ha'shem, who has delivered us from our enemies.
8. thank you ,what a good react , so much !!!!!!!!!
Salma ,   Palestine   (11.23.10)
the end of the occupation cannot depend on you, too Dr. Erekat !
9. If Netanyahu had b****
Israel Israeli ,   Tel Aviv   (11.23.10)
He would stop giving Fatah military support and information so that they can murder and torture Hamas activists. Within a week Erekat and his gang of losers would go to their palaces in Europe and Israel could discuss peace with Hamas, the democratically elected representative of the Arabs.
10. #8 What does international law
Raphael ,   Netanya   (11.23.10)
tell about beaten aggressors? Jordan attacked Israel on june 7th 1967 despite warnings. The Arabs must sustain the consequences. Either they yield minimal concessions, or they stay where they are.
11. "Referendum law 'disregard of int'l law'"
Shalom   (11.23.10)
They fear a referendum because they're well aware that only a fraction of Israelis, the cruel and heartless ones, would agree to a withdrawal from Jewish territories in the Jewish land, especially after what happened to Sharon because of his foolish expulsion of 10,000 Jews, which caused the escalation and more than 10,000 rockets being fired into Israel, killing and maiming hundreds, including pregnant women and young children, and this jerk dares speaking about "disregard of international law".
12. What int. national Law??
walldizo ,   Lebanon   (11.23.10)
True, it is said that ,he who kill by the sord must die by the sord.
13. Which International Law is he talking about?
Eric ,   Tel Aviv & NY   (11.23.10)
Israel liberated East Jerusalem from Jordanian occupation in 1967, so what law is violated? UN resolution 242 talks about peace between Israel and Jordan, Egypt, and / or Syria, so what law is violated? At what point was there a country of or for the Palestinians? When was Jerusalem an Arab or Muslim capital? Where is there a single International Law that calls for the creation of a new country? Stop with the sound bites that have no historical basis or facts.
14. The Law of Lord Netanyahu
walldizo ,   Lebanon   (11.23.10)
Netanyahu's option is for the public to be consulted on any future withdrawals from lands stolen by Israel...The Law of Netanyahuuuuu.
15. Erekat
Jim Brown ,   TN USA   (11.23.10)
Since when did and EreFat and the PLO become concerned with International Law?
16. This is a blow in the face of Livni and Barak
bob96 ,   Tel Aviv, Israel   (11.23.10)
And well deserved, too. This is the BEST law approved in the Kneset in many years. It will impede that, if by any crazy chance (G_d forbid) Tzipi Livni or Barak or any of their kind would take the government, they can give away Jerusalem, as they already proved they are willing to give it. And Tzipi, who thinks "you cannot leave that decision to the people", the most despicable statement made by a politician, will have to take US into account in the future. Great day!
17. Our very existence has served our rivals, so what? Have we
Jehudah Ben-Israel ,   Qatzrin, Israel   (11.23.10)
ceased to exist? Have we said: let us close our liberal democratic nation-state of the Jewish people, Israel, and allow the rest of the world to go back to step all over us...??!! Never again!!
18. I cant wait for Obamas response
zionist forever   (11.23.10)
The man will be fuming in anger and he will be on the phone to Bibi ordering him to repeal this law now. I am also just waiting for Abbas to come out and say unless the law is repealed then he will refuse to sit and talk. This law has been handled badly because it should have been a referendum over Jerusalem & a second referendum on the Golan not a package deal and it was intentionally left full of loopholes and get out clauses for the government. It is time though the public get a real say in the future of their country the politicians are not directly ellected by the public and we don't choose the coalitions.
19. To: No. 14
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (11.23.10)
Stolen lands? Whatever happened to "he who lives by the sword must die by the sword." Your words. Right at your post no. 12. Guess what, ace? The Arabs attacked Israel. Israel defeated them. Stolen, nothing! Remember -- he who lives by the sword must die by the sword. That would be the "Palestinians," now, wouldn't it? Yes. It would.
20. maybe israel should adopt the official policy of the PA
mike ,   israel (formerly usa   (11.23.10)
like the PA officially executing anyone suspected of selling/transferring/giving land to israel or anyone jewish. yeah don't put it up for vote or referendum like a normal democracy tends to do, just take 'em out in the street and give them a dose of mob justice, AK-47 style. maybe in erekat's world this sort of unanimous, embedded law is perfectly fine and in compliance with "international law".
21. If Ehud Barak is against it .........
Terry ,   Eilat - Israel   (11.23.10)
Then it must be the right thing to do.
22. No. 19
Salma ,   Palestine   (11.23.10)
"Israel" defeated the Arabs and not Palestinians. Sarah B ,if you don't drink your milk you will have an extra garbage !
23. Clearly the people have spoken
Mark from Georgia ,   USA   (11.23.10)
There must be a worry among the Israeli's that some in their government might put Israel and it's security at risk. Like in most nations including here in the U.S., there is a distrust of government. I wrote in a previous post that to some extent when majority rule is applied it could lead to mob rule. In the U.S. the founding father's understood this. They put into action three branches of government ( Presidential, Congress, Supreme Court) , to watch each other. In addition in the House of Representatives they are elected every two years, the Senate every six years and the President every four years. This provides an outlet for the voting public. If upset or mad about issues they can change the House of Representatives (elected every two years). But the Senate the other half of Congress is not subject to that public pressure (because they are elected every six years) and can stop Legislation without worrying about being thrown out of office. It is these checks and balances they keep our government rolling along. There is an outlet for the voting public to express their outrage and displeasure with politicians and what they do. No branch can violate the Constitution which the Supreme court interprets. While not a perfect system it has worked well for 200 years. Even through we have had problems, many problems. Israel is using their form of Government the best way they know how at this point. It sure beats killing each other doesn't it? Unlike their neighbors around them.
24. A well deserved referundum.
jo   (11.23.10)
Since when does a gang of outlaws, pirates, thugs, islamic killers is showing interest in int'l law ? How about obeying man's laws for a change instead of your damned koranic bloody edits. Reviving the peace process dr.Khatib?; who told you to start a war you imbecile. How can Eurekat ignore something that muhammad rejects - democracy..They, all of you, only thrive in your vile and repugnant charter - Israel's elimination. You,your descendants are not going to live to see it. I agree with you mr.walldizo # 12 from lebanon : kill by the sword and you will die by the sword. !400 years ago, a band crased, depraved satan disciples, started slaughtering in his name; so you must be slaughtered in turn. The sooner the better.
25. Only solution:
javier ,   paris   (11.23.10)
the only solution is to let the israelis vote before any negotiation. If the populace votes no, then Palestinians go to the UN, and Israel will be violating (as it is now) international law due to illegal occupation. This will justify any military action against Israel by Palestine and allies, to inforce their soverignity, with full support of the UN.
26. #22 please define
Israel Israeli ,   Tel Aviv   (11.23.10)
You keep using this word "Palestinian". Please define it. Do you use the Fatah / PLO definition of a Muslim Arab, including the colonists who immigrated to Israel between 1920 and 1948 with the help of the illegal British occupation?
27. The greatest democratci action ever in the Niddle East
assaf ,   Jerusalem   (11.23.10)
this referendum is going to be the greatest democratic act ever in the history of the middle east. Israel is being bashed as undemocratic but when it commits the most democratic of actions, putting it to the people, to decide the future of their country, voting, again the world has issues with it, all those that oppose this are scared, the left are scared because it will break their minority hold over the country and the closet dictators will loose power and the Pals are scared because the truth of their lies will be shown, and the liberal Jews of England and America like jstreet and the brittish equivalent are scared because they realize their opinions mean nothing and for them to be heard they might actually have to come a move here to vote, that would be ironic wouldn't it, thousands of liberal, leftists, Israel bashing Jews making ayliya to vote in the referendum...stranger things have happened.
28. #22 which proves there are no "palestinians".
(11.23.10)
29. #25 UN does not actually make international law
rebecca ,   Modiin   (11.23.10)
But it seems Erekat thinks he does.
30. This good news for us it show that we were right
syria eagle ,   homs   (11.23.10)
