31. to Farid & fake Salma #26
Salma (the real) ,   Palestine   (11.27.10)
Major Hadad and commander Eli Hubeika were under the direct command of Ariel Sharon. right Ynet ?!
32. to #19
Joe ,   NY, USA   (11.27.10)
wasn't there a boycott against the French by not eating french-fries by the Arabs? At the time that was a small but important step in the right direction too. So what did that accomplish? (I am not even mentioning that french-fries have nothing to do with French people). Oh and by the way... look at #4, he/she is totally right, you might have to give up more than humus to really make a difference.
33. Sabra
a Christian ,   USA   (11.27.10)
I will buy and eat it all the more now that I know it is Israeli..........thanks for telling me
34. #13 - Salma - you don't know what Sabra means!
Chaya ,   Tel Aviv   (11.27.10)
This is the cactus fruit and refers to someone who is Israel-born - prickly on the outside and sweet on the inside!
35. Choose to eat it or choose not to.
Mark ,   Jerusalem   (11.27.10)
I think we should boycott Arabs buying Israeli food in Israel, stop them from entering Israeli supermarkets, stop them from eating in Israeli restaurants stop them from buying in Israeli stores. Of course I am just joking.
36. How does a boycott compare to shunning protexia 4 Americans?
Josh   (11.27.10)
If colleges in Amercia explored translations on the subject of Israeli Protexia or heard my story, they would shut all business to Israel down. The whole world would. Israel better get back to righteous Torah. You better get the thugs out of the converts and American imiigrants face. Devarim writes what G-d says. ""You shall love the convert" What's wrong with you? Insecure? Who can give back last night?
37. 4 eilat sun - the fact that intel, google and microsoft open
Dave   (11.27.10)
r&d outlets in israel doesn't make the worlds pc's and cell phones israeli. put your hat on, the eilat sun can be damaging we know.
38. Show your support: Buy hummus, demand malawach, & read #3

39. boycott camel dung
yael ,   israel   (11.27.10)

40. To the “real” Salma from Palestine (#29)
George Bisharah ,   Paris   (11.27.10)
Before you invite your “friend” to sit down and eat “real” Palestinian hummas in Ramalla, tell him something about the city which was renamed by the Muslims to “Ramalla” from the original Hebrew “Bet-El” (the former being a direct translation of the latter). As a Maronite Christian whose grandparents originally came from Ramalla, we (like most educated Christians throughout the Christian world) believe that we were all originally Jews who converted from the time of Christ to the beginning of the Holy Roman Empire. Start by telling your friend about the modern history of the city and explain why the Christian Arab majority (that replaced the indigenous Jewish Population) is now a minority while the Muslims are currently in the majority (which has happened in Bethleham, Nazareth, Jerusalem, Jaffa and elsewhere). Then, go back to the pre-Christian and pre-Arab city of Bet-El, and point out that it was first mentioned in the Holy Bible and never once in the Quran. For starters, show him Genesis 35:1-16, Joshua 8:17 and 12:16, The First Book of Kings 12:25-33 and Amos 5:5 and 7:13. Then sit down in “Ramalla” (Bet-El) and enjoy some “authentic Palestinian” hummas!
41. #29 Salma, I'll try to find my way to Ramallah :)
Yossef ,   Toronto/Rehovot   (11.27.10)
42. Amazing how little Arabs know about Israel
C   (11.27.10)
Hummus is not Palesitnian. It is Egyptian originally coming from India. It was not appropriated by Israelis, it was adopted by European Jews from both Palestinians and the more than 50% of today's Israelis who are Jews from Arab countries who also eat hummus. Hummus is just as Israeli as it is Palestinian.
43. BTW
Noam ,   Israel   (11.27.10)
Its illegal under the anti- boycott laws of 1997 (USA). That would be funny- arrest them all
44. salma: 29
Dennis ,   New Jersey   (11.27.10)
Salma: the last time that some Jews went to ramallah, 2 army reservists who made a wrong turn, they were slaughtered and hung upside town for your neighbors to dance around. Ill eat my Sabra Hummous (and my Maoz felafel) here in Princeton, or.. in an area secured by the IDF. I'll pass on the Ramallah "hospitality"
45. INDIANS FOR SABRA HUMUS
PATRIOTIC INDIAN ,   Mumbai, INDIA   (11.27.10)
I will e mail all my Indian friends in the USA to go out and purchase Sabra Humus ! We must stand united against the Islamo facist thugs and help each other !!!
46. Princeton is focusing on ground-breaking research!
Reuven Ben-Tal ,   Jerusalem   (11.27.10)
47. #19 Graczek
Hal ,   Usa   (11.27.10)
Yes the boycott moves slow perhaps like the neurons in your brain? This is another of your brian-fart like aphorisms perhaps ? What happens at Princton stays at Princton you dolt. Ever consider lobotomy as a career choice?
48. Thanks for the info
Adam Helberg ,   USA   (11.27.10)
Next time I'll look for Sabra to buy this brand.
49. #19 Luv Sabra Hummus, graczek
Cynthia ,   USA   (11.27.10)
So creamy and rich. My favorite is hummus with pine nuts but frankly, their product line is stellar. Sabra hummus flies off the shelf at our local markets. Eat your heart out, graczek! Funny how these boycott attempts actually promote Israeli products and allow Tigers for Israel to shine.
50. Sabra hummus is not very good
David   (11.27.10)
Boycott or not, their hummus isn't very good at all. It tastes too processed and unnatural flavoring.
51. I WILL BUY SABRA PRODUCTS
HINDU IN THE US ,   USA   (11.27.10)
I am not a great lover of Humus. But having read this article, I will make it a point to purchase this product, and support this firm !
52. who cares
zionist forever   (11.27.10)
There is always somebody boycotting Israeli products this is just the latest.
53. Boycotts violate Federal Laws in US
shlomo ,   USA   (11.27.10)
Boycotts that are not sanctioned by the US Sate Department (like Cuba, Iran, North Korea, etc.) are in violation of US laws and risk prosecution. If Princeton as a university participates in a boycott of Israel or Israeli goods, it would be subject to fines and debarment from government sponsored research and federal grants. The same goes for US companies.
54. #49, hummus with pine nuts
Green Baron ,   Bethesda, MD USA   (11.27.10)
We have a container of Sabra hummus right now, the kind with the pine nuts. Very enjoyable crackers or matzos, as well as pita. We got ours at CostCo, which also carries a variety with spinach and artichoke hearts. I will have to try that one.
55. #40 Georges, and Nablus is Schrem
Yossef ,   Toronto/Rehovot   (11.27.10)
it is why west bank is Yudah-Shomron. We know that. Thanks for reminding us :) Well, saying that you converted to christian is not completely right, the first Christians was just Jews, following Saul's (Paul) way. It is long after than the Christians decided to separate themselves from the Jews (introducing the trinity, moved their shabbat a day after jewish shabbat etc...). Until then, Christians was just like another jewish sect, like Chabad today. Why don't you come back home? What do you feel wrong with judaism? Well, maybe it is not the right place to talk theology. Best.
56. #54 Thanks Green Baron
Cynthia ,   USA   (11.27.10)
I didn't know Costco carries Sabra products. Will check it out. Try it with red peppers, carrots and olives. Poor graczek must be in shock.
57. I am princeton student here are the facts...
Jacob ,   Princeton, usa   (11.28.10)
I am a Princeton student and I can tell you my opinion of the situation. The Princeton committee on Palestine (PCP) wants this measure to be passed more as a symbolic gesture than anything which can tangibly end the occupation. Even if the referendum does not pass, the group can still use statistics such as " forty percent of Princeton students voted to ban sabra hummus because..." it will be a victory either way for them. The facts are that the student government also does not want the measure to pass, because sabra hummus is a best seller at Princeton, as it is in the USA. Boycotting it would mean going against the wants of the majority and pandering to one student group. The final point that many proisrael students are making Is this... The strauss group gives care packages to soldiers, asnopposed to supplying them with guns or ammo. The little bit of revenue loss would not cause the strauss group, which only owns 50% of sabra to change it's community service project. Perhaps the pcp should be spending their time lobbying the US government like students in TIgers for Israel do through organizations like AIPAC
58. So tired of this kind of symbolic chickens***
Cameron ,   USA   (11.28.10)
Hope I come across some Sabra-brand hummus the next time at the store for purchase. From now on, I'll make a point of keeping a watch for it. Boycotting hummus? Man, get outta here with that fool move.
59. Princeton students boycott Sabra Hummus
Mark ,   Pasadena US   (11.28.10)
I like Sabra Hummus, and in fact buy it on the Amtrak Train between Sacramento and LA. Whenever I hear of boycotting Israeli food products, I just go out and buy more of them. Palestinians should learn to compete by making hummus better and cheaper. They can market it here but forget about boycotts.
60. Not quite accurate
Jeffrey Mensch ,   Princeton, NJ, USA   (11.28.10)
I'm the President of Tigers for Israel, and I can tell you that the referendum does not call for the removal of Sabra from Princeton's shelves. It only calls for adding other companies' products in addition to Sabra. PCP decided to not phrase the actual wording as "replacing," since they knew it would not pass as such, and have instead tried to frame the issue now as one of "freedom of choice." Thus the campaign to boycott Sabra on a ampus-wide level has already been defeated; it is now only an issue of singling out an Israeli product in general, rather than asking for more choices for all products that are the only ones sold of their kind on campus.
