1. Pure BS, and very poor strategic thinking!
Reuven Ben-Tal ,   Jerusalem   (11.29.10)
This is pure BS, and very poor strategic thinking (if we can call it "thinking")! As there are alternatives to almost anything else (except for death!), of course there are alternatives to Amerikkka! We once thought that there was no alternative to the USSR, and that rapidly changed after Stalin's Doctors' Trial. Then we thought that there was no alternative to France, and that also quickly changed after the 1967/68 French arms embargo on Israel. Then, we began sucking on the amerikkkan nipple and can't let go, because "there is no alternative" to that one of kind nipple! This type of very narrow 'thinking' has had an ill effect on Israel in the long run. And as for a developing a sense of national pride as well, it is even shameful!
2. Reuven Ben Tal is correct. Enough with
tanya ,   tel aviv, israel   (11.30.10)
Shteitale thinking. Israel must divercify its foreing policy, trade, military partners. That's exactly what Liberman is doing. He came from a big country, he is "macro thinker".
3. Ron, good assessment...
Rafi ,   US   (11.30.10)
... so far the WikiLeaks seems to be a big tadoo about very little. Most all of the themes posted have been expressed in the press before. The rest is petty gossip. Talkback #1: who exactly do you propose as alternative ally to the US for democracies in today's world?
4. US has proved itself incapable of being world/s policeman
avrom ,   bet shemesh   (11.30.10)
Israel should do the job
5. #3, Rafi. The World Greatest Democracy
tanya ,   tel aviv, israel   (11.30.10)
appears to be a bit less democratic, while trying to impose "peace" deal on Israel, against the will of the majority of it's citizens.
6. You spoke some cold truth, Ben-Yishai
Cameron ,   USA   (11.30.10)
We all know whom they come running to when affairs become too dire or spooky.
7. "analysis"?
tom ,   toronto, canada   (11.30.10)
this editorial is not much more insightful or reflective than the average talkback. a bit pretentious calling it "analysis".
8. us commitment
red arrow ,   usa   (11.30.10)
Israel can go it alone. Does she want to?
9. Oh Hell no, red arrow
Cameron ,   USA   (12.01.10)
That is the last kind of option the Israelis want try & play. They know full well the odds are not good at all for a truly foresaken, pariah state on the world scene. Happy to keep playing Big Brother in the background for them as long as they avoid seriously foolish moves.
