momentum going and apply harsh punishment to those who psychologically abuse women by withholding a get.
2. Arab like behavior
American Sabrah ,   Givas Shmilkeh   (12.03.10)
Religious or not, there is no legitimacy for domestic violence and perpetrators should not only be ostracized but condemned and humiliated for it. We should not lower ourselves to the level of the Arabs who encourage this kind of atrocity as part of their culture.People who are dangerously unhinged and mentally instable should not be allowed to date or to marry either - I don't care if he is you son.
3. Reading Scriptures is healing for the soul. Those who are
Rivkah   (12.03.10)
abusive must take time each day to read several chapters from the Scriptures. The effect only lasts a day so it has to be repeated each day. When my husband gets growly, I ask if he has read his Scripture lesson from Pastor John Hagee online which is free. Usually he has not if he is grumpy. So he takes a time out and reads his lesson and then he is less growly. Pastor Hagee gave Israeli charities eight million dollars this year but that was not even nentioned on YNET. He is a great friend of Israel. Cruelty and physical and verbal abuse of a spouse can be demonic in origin. Gesenius' Hebrew Lexicon says to be insane is to be driven by a demon. Reading the Scriptures feeds the soul and helps limit the powers of demon influence. My husband has never hit me, but he gets grouchy because he gets tired working full time at 68 with no hope of retirement in this economy. We are in debt in our old age from helping others, but I know a harvest from YHWH will come.

6. A step in the right direction
John DeLancy ,   Alaska, USA   (12.03.10)
Excluding the abusive from the community is a good first step. It sends a message that abuse is never acceptable. It should also be followed by providing shelter and protection to the victims/survivors of the abusers misdeeds, to prevent his retaliation against them. A further solution is to teach children that abuse of any kind is morally wrong. Instill values in children as the Torah already commands, and they will grow up respecting those values.

8. 4 Dorothy Friend, Tel Aviv: Orthodox and Haridi Jewish women
Rivkah   (12.03.10)
can get separated from their husbands, if not divorced without the consent of their husbands. Rabbi Yeshua said from the beginning there was no divorce but that Moses for the hardness of people's hearts allowed divorce. Separation is fine and allowed but divorce is a terrible thing for the children because YHWH wants righteous children and divorce causes the children to rebel against YHWH, the Prophet Malachi explained. Women do not have a right to sever what YHWH has joined together with a divorce but they can separate even for a lifetime. The problem is the women was wanton and want to remarry or be free of a marriage. What they are trying to do is to sever what YHWH has joined together which is an offense to YHWH unless there are Scriptural grounds as given to Moses for the divorce. But the highest calling is to stay married but separated not to divorce.
9. I still say this is pointless...
Dorothy Friend ,   Tel Aviv   (12.03.10)
...if a woman cannot get a divorce without her husband's consent. There are many ways a man can get around a wife's non-consent in Israel, where he can take a second wife. Or, he can have children with his lover if she is not married to someone else. But a woman is anchored for life. And that is that.
10. #8..poor woman, you don't know what your talking about?

called to be happy. They are called to be holy. Sometimes aspiring to be holy in one's decisions in life leads to happiness, but if it does not, the woman should be content with the knowledge she is holy to YHWH and will be happy in the next life as a wife of YHWH and daughter and sister of YHWH. People who do not aspire to a holy calling of being blessed in YHWH have no understanding of this. Being holy is preferable to being happy.
13. 9 Dorothy Friend, Tel Aviv: My father explained to me long
Rivkah   (12.04.10)
ago why there are inequities for males and females in life. A woman is certain a child is hers, but a man can only hope a child is his. With DNA tests that uncertainty can be resolved.

Don't you think , i don't know it , that women who are abused , who's husbands are violent , also need their husbands agreement to divorce ?
16. What about violence against children?
skjdkjskjd   (12.04.10)
Children have rights too!
17. right direction
moshe ,   Jerusalem, Israel   (12.04.10)
I think this is going in the right direction but people need to realize that men are not the only ones capable of violence. Violence in society needs to be dealt with as a whole: Violence against women, violence against children, violence against men. The whole issue needs to be addressed, not just part of it.
18. #15 - I know you do...
Dorothy Friend ,   Tel Aviv   (12.04.10)
... but tne number of people that don't realise that a Jewish woman can never divorce under any circumstances without her husband's okay is amazing. They thing Judaism is a religious full of respect for women, one where women aren't possessions. Ha! :(
19. #12...What are you really saying?
Edithann ,   USA   (12.04.10)
that women can find happiness in anything....even in an abusive relationship with their lives and children in jeopardy.. acceptance is just a matter of conditioning..has nothing to do with YHWH... But isn't that what has always done...and not only in Judaism...in just about all cultures.. The questionable paternity of the child is just a ruse for control...just as honor killings are....It's always been for power and control of the woman, has nothing to do with paternity... ...MEN ARE DEATHLY AFRAID OF WOMEN WHO ASSUME THEIR OWN POWER AND INDEPENDANCE... MEN ARE ONLY NEEDED FOR PROCREATION (SEED) ...WOMEN CAN AND USUALLY DO THE REST FOR SURVIVAL..LOOK AT THE MOST PRIMITIVE AFRICAN CULTURES...AND THEN LOOK AT THE HAREDI AS AN EXAMPLE... AND REMEMBER, WITHOUT MEN, THERE WOULD PROBABLY BE NO MORE WARS...WARS ARE JUST EXCUSES ..... TATA
20. 19 Edithann, USA: A woman can get a legal separation
Rivkah   (12.04.10)
without a divorce and be legally separated and supported. She does not have to stay with an abusive husband. You do not understand that the highest righteousness in marriage is virginity for both at marriage and no divorce for life. Gesenius' Hebrew Lexicon defines a virgin as a woman who has not cohabited with a male which is having semen vaginal sex that does or does not result in conception. Once that has happened, there is a seal from the Holy Spirit if one of the two is a true believer. There are certain Scriptural grounds tha can sever that seal such as abandonment without support, non support within the marriage by the husband unless there is a catastrophic illness reason or other reason such as school, fornication is grounds to sever a seal by the Holy Spirit and that is repeated adultery without repentance. The third way to legally end a marriage that one of the two is a true believers is by death. The Get blessing for a divorce includes these things. Even the Roman Catholics can get a divorce and a church annulment for fornication or desertion or non-support. What you want is equality with males which does not work. God is the head of the man. The man is the head of the woman. When Adam was first created, a wife was similarly created from the earth's soil instead of from his rib. Lillith was her name and she rebelled against Adam because there was no headship at that point in the man. Both were equal. So Lillith left the Garden of Eden and later married Cain according to manuscripts that were considered for inclusion in the Scriptures but were not. When equality between Adam and Lillith did not work, YHWH made another wife for Adam from Adam's rib named Eve who was subject to Adam. She rebelled and had sex with Satan and conceived Cain. Eve loved Cain more than Abel because Cain "shined". The DNA of Cain and his descendants were part fallen angel or nephillim. The descendants of Seth were human until fallen angels cohabited with human women and God had to destroy them with a Flood because the only all human beings left on earth were Noah and his family. You are in rebellion against YHWH. Do you know what the Scriptures say about women and children ruling? It is a sign of YHWH's displeasure with a nation. There are a few like Deborah who were the exception, but very few. Women are far harsher than men when it comes to the use of force in police and miltiary matters. Consider that Hillary Clinton who was higher in the Illuminati than her husband when he was President ordered Attorney General Janet Reno to attack a compound with children and women and adult males in it at the Branch Davidian Compound in Waco, Texas, with gas that was banned by Geneva Convention that could never be used in international warfare without its being a war crime in International Courts. Many, many children and women died when all the government had to do was to arrest David Koresh when he drove into town for supplies instead of killing innocent women and children. That is what women in power are like and it is a judgment from God. Look at US Senators Barbara Boxer and Diane Feinstein and Congresswoman Nancy Pelosi. They vote against turning on the water for California farmers and ranchers so that the State is in a deficit from lack of agricultural tax revenue and millions of people are out of work and farmland is becoming desert land where a third of the fresh fruits and vegetables for the nation used to come from. Most women in high positions are poison for a nation. That is what that tells me and that is what the Scriptures say, too.
21. #19 Please go away
Chava   (12.05.10)
Right, Rivkah---men have been doing such a great job, if you don't count endless wars, poverty, Wall Street siphoning off trillions of dollars, industrial pollution, etc, etc, etc. Let's focus on the tiny things that you don't like about Barbara Boxer, Diane Feinstein, and Nancy Pelosi. Let's ignore the stockpiles of weapons that David Koresh had. Let's make unfounded claims against Hillary Clinton. Finally, let's just agree that you should never run for office.
22. #20..It's obvious you don't know what your talking about!...
Edithann ,   USA   (12.05.10)
None of what you say is true...especially about our women in government....but you repeat it and so you make it true for you and yours..You have to do that..if you don't, you're whole way of life will fall apart.. You are way off the beam about Pelosi, Feinstein, Boxer or any of them...You shouldn't even mention them if you don't know what you're talking about...and it's apparent you know nothing about American politics.... David Koresh was a cult figure..sort of like your Haredi...only you accept it...but we don't 'thank God'!...You can't have a cult that is armed and the leader take young girls as wives..I know you allow that nonsense to go on in Israel, and the women are punished and ostracized if someone says anything, so it's always kept very secret and under the carpet.. We look at that nonsense as 'child abuse'....especially if you stifle education and the ability of the child to think for themselves with all that religious nonsense... You can't admit it's because of men that women have always been at the bottom of the power structure...but you're too brainwashed in all that Jewish male nonsense to realize it. .If I wrote the 'book' I'd have done the same thing and made men the bottom of the power structure too.... But now that we can have children without husbands..and women can take care of themselves and their families without social stigma.. men are slowly becoming sulfurous and women are finding they don't have to put up with that BS anymore.. Women and civilization is moving towards universal peace....and that's the way 'G-d' has designed it..... What really surprises me is how dumb you Haredi women are to have put up with the nonsense for centuries.. He doesn't work or even pray for your souls, he contributes nothing but his worthless 'seed'......while you women have the babies and support him and the children....and you dare talk about 'power' and politics...and that men should be the power structure? You are just too, too funny... TATA
23. Stand up and be counted
Ruth Rasnic ,   Herzliya, Israel   (12.05.10)
For over 30 years I have advocated the involvement of Rabbis in the battle against domestic violence in all its manifestations. In Israel, Britain and the USA this has been my constant request: banish the perpetrators from the synagogues. Preach against domesic violence and all forms of sexual abuse. Maybe now the Rabbis of Tzohar will stand up and be counted as leaders in their communities.
24. Shun? Ostracized? Forever? G-d said this?
Josh   (12.05.10)
Although the intentions sound GOOD, we only put murderers in prison for part of their life and only in extreme cases into soliary confinement for a week or so. The Rabbi proposes taking away the lives of men including home, car, work, paycheck, friends, family (mother/father/children), no security, privacy, endless harrassment, and so much more. A solitary confinement that is permananent and agitation that even the most vile criminal doesn't receive. No lashes, no divorce, but solitary life sentences and psy ops to mess with the mind. And what standards of proof will the great Rabbi use? Is an accusation enough? Although the problem must be addressed, the Torah from G-d needs no help in dealing with one who strikes another. The Rabbi would be good to remind himself that adding to Torah is a capital offense. Shunning based on the edicts of man is for cults. It is way over the top in most if not all Jewish cases. Meanwhile a nod to prostitution and forced slavery goes on? The pagan worshipping, declarations of holiness, and adoration of objects that protect when only G-d protects is raging on in the Jewish community. An offense that will get all Jews excumminicated from the land. Is the Rabbi willing to stop the use by Jews of the Jainism hand objects? No? What qualifies one to be a fool? We have recently seen horror in the number 40. How many remember the count of the years in the desert and what we learned there? No sacred objects to kiss and pray to! NO ADDING TO TORAH from what they obeyed in the desert. Can we handle that simple task?
25. divorce is allowed in jewish law
johanna from tsfat ,   tsfat   (12.05.10)
@rifka.. you are always putting your own anti-divorce agenda, but whatever you say divorce is allowed in jewish law. it may not be allowed under catholic law, but that is a different story. stop pretending to give a jewish point of view. divorce is and always has been allowed under jewish law, otherwise there wouldn't be a tractate in the talmud, called gittin (ie divorce) about the laws surrounding divorce.
26. 20 Rivka, Lilith a Jewish belief?
ORA ,   Jerusalem   (12.05.10)
27. #25 - but divorce can only happen if the man agrees!
Dorothy Friend ,   Tel Aviv   (12.05.10)
If a man doesn't agree there is no divorce, the woman is an agunah, any children she has by another man will be bastards (not so for the children of her husband's extramarital activities if he has them). So all this blahblah is worthless to the woman if there is no divorce.
28. Clarification for Edithann
Chava   (12.05.10)
Rivka is NOT Jewish. I'm not exactly sure of the name of her cult of one person, but it is derived from X-tianity. She tries to mislead people into thinking that she's Jewish, but it's just part of her deceit. She's been commenting on Ynet for far too long.
29. #28 I think any one with 1/2 a brain...
Dorothy Friend ,   Tel Aviv   (12.05.10)
.... could figure out that she is not Jewish. The Rabbi Yehusua thing is a dead giveaway.
30. 28,29 Chava, Dorothy: I am Jewish in my heart and have
Rivkah   (12.05.10)
a Jewish bloodline from my mother and father. My mother was a member of Beth Sar Shalom Congregation in Tucson, a Messianic Jewish Congregation. You both appear to be atheists. Rabbi Yeshua said there are Jews who say they are Jews and there are Jews who are Jews in their hearts. I prefer to be the latter since those are the Jews who enter YHWH's eternal Kingdom.
