The weather then was also very dry for a long time, then something lit a fire and the Santa Ana winds fed the fire all along California. The rich, powerful and capable Americans couldn't put out the fire. Combine arid weather conditions, dry winds and an arsonist and you'll an impossible situation. First, they fail to take into account that many, many Arabs live in that region and they too are adversely affected by the fire. And the drought is not just in Israel but the entire region - a tinder box waiting to go up in flames. and Second, being able to ask for help and receive is not a sign of weakness. Israel is quite self-sustainable but not existing in a bubble. The point that should make Arabs and Leftists gawk is despite the claims that Israel is isolated and hated, how quickly the world rushed to its aid, even those who profess to hate Israel. Israel will from now on have proper fire fighting equipment, chemicals, planes and plans. It should have had them already in view of the fires during the Second Lebanon War. Israel doesn't just need the equipment to handle this fire, it need the expertise, too, and should have made a request for such from Canada, which has substantial experience in fighting large scale forest fires. Forest fires are very different, and much more unpredictable, than building fires, as we see from what is happening up north now.
