1. Israel
Hakim ,   Palestine   (12.04.10)
Great at setting fires...poor at fighting them.
2. #1 Palestine?
Noodles ,   Coney Island   (12.04.10)
That fire seems to have been squelched for the past 62 years.
3. Hakim #1
Barbara ,   Haifa Israel   (12.04.10)
"Great for setting fires but not putting them out" is what you said. And I repeat what I said in another talkback - that California couldn't put out their fires when they had them - so what is your logic about the Americans ???
4. Even the Dutch will send...
Pieter ,   Holland   (12.04.10)
4 helicopters with fire-fighting capabilities. They will only arrive by monday, due to the long distance. Hopefully they will not be needed by that time :)
5. Chance for Israel...
peter vojta ,   czech republic   (12.04.10)
Ralm Emanuel would say: "Dont let any crissis go to waste". I hope that Israel will recognize international effort to help extinguish this natural disaster and not blame Palestine or Lebanon...and wage another wars of destruction. For start, Israel shoud "extinguish fire" it set against its neighbours mainly Palestine people YEARS ago...peter czech
6. Fires...
Hertzel ,   Usa   (12.04.10)
When Yellowstone national park here in the US was burning, an area as large as all of norther Israel, the US was unable to contain the fires to the point that they had to simply let it burn itself out. Man will never beat the wrath of nature, and those that blame Israel of incompetency are just plane stupid.
7. Peter, #5
Hertzel ,   usa   (12.04.10)
Hey Peter, sadly you are very uninformed. Israel sole desire, more than anything is to be left to live in peace. Many haters in the region are after it's very existence, you can hear that day in day out, if you listen... but you hear what you want don't you?
8. Israel has learned about forest fires RIGHT ???
M.S. ,   mpls america   (12.04.10)
I realize Israel is learning the hard way how terrible forest fires are what a shame I hope this terrible horrible lesson wakes up Israel to understanding such things the future is no brighter than you make it out to be this December 2010 certainly has gone down in Israeli history the Chanukah fire of 2010 may even pass 1973 equal the Hallocaust for tragedy in Israeli minds RIGHT but be brave Israel be brave now you know what fire forest fires are like next time be prepared RIGHT ??? Thank You... M. S.
9. Peter, cut the crap
Tahl ,   Ashdod   (12.04.10)
No one in Israel blamed, or has the intention of blaming the Palestinians or Lebanon for this fire. As for the fire with the Palis, funny how you conveniently forget Hamas' treaty to liberate all of Palestine from the Zionist, and their unprovoked rocket attacks at us, following the 2005 pullout from Gaza. Get off your high horse and educate yourself.
10. #peter - much of the help is "thank you"
rebecca ,   Modiin   (12.04.10)
for help Israel has provided to other countries. If you look you will see that Israel is often one of the first and best at assisting with any and all disasters around the world. That countries are helping us now is nice, but but much of it is also a thank you for what Israel has done for those countries.
11. Environmental terrorism
Jack.d ,   Israel   (12.04.10)
As Israel is facing a scenario of grief, sorrow and anger for the unnecessary deaths and the millions of shekels of damage due to the Carmel forest inferno the one certainty will be that the blame game is on. As in Israeli disasters who will be white washed, covered up or made a scapegoat? It is a fact what occurred here in the last terror filled days is an accumulation of years of complacency and apathy by the majority of Israelis who have no pride or could not careless to their out side environment.
12. # 9
Birdi ,   Israel   (12.05.10)
Kudos Tahl.
