31. The importance given to the clowns of
tom ,   tel aviv   (12.05.10)
religious beliefs is fueling the fire that one day shall engulf us all infidels. Remove any notion of supersition from government and spare us "quotes" from this self proclaimed imbecile with poor sense of fashion. The man is a moron by any human standards, yet he's referred to as a "graet scholar" by many: why, because he accepts that the earth is round after all??!!
32. Who desecrates shabbat?
Misha ,   Tel Aviv   (12.05.10)
Today’s seculars are considered by the Talmud as a "Tinok shenishba", which means an individual who sins inadvertently, unwittingly, as a result of being raised without an appreciation for the rules of Judaism. The Rambam excludes these people from those who deserve punishment. Obviously if anyone needs to be punished for desecrating Shabbat, it should be those who know the rules and fail to observe them.
33. Stupid old bastard!
Talula ,   Israel   (12.05.10)
41 people died trying to save lives of prisoners who were in prison for terrorists activities against our country. What kind of complete and utter MORON would come out with such a wicked evil and vile statement - it could ONLY be a religious sicko - as someone else mentioned here, it's probably our punishment for having Shas in the government - you know, the thieves, liars, child abusers, wife beaters - and those sworn to God but still riot on Shabbat and smash up the holiest city on earth - our Capital. Sick evil old man - show some respect for the dead and their families you ASSHOLE!!
34. Advice to Rabbi Yosef
talya ,   israel   (12.05.10)
Here's an idea for the esteemed Rabbi who seems to like spewing off from his pulpit.... How about using your power to do good for a change and encourage your disciples to go out and volounteer with the firefighting units. Instead of sitting on their backsides all day, thinking of schemes to glean money off decent, hardworking citizens, they could contribute something worthwhile to the community and maybe help prevent this kind of devastation next time around. Last time I checked, there was nothing in the Torah against helping your community, and certainly not in a task that could save lives. Just a thought from a lowly female.
35. Hatred=Fire
ORA ,   Jerusalem   (12.05.10)
The human being is a little world. It has the same elements as the big world.Body+Soul.The soul affects the body. For example a loving person is(epanoui) fruitful,a hateful person has a dry and burning heart. If you follow my reasoning,Israel s nature depends on Israel s citizen s soul. Love instead of hatred=Rain instead of drought and fire. Love without hatred does not mean, that we have to accept the inacceptable.Sometime we need to criticize. The best way is to do this in a sandwich form.First we look for something nice to say, sometimes we have to look hard, than we say the critic in a positive way,and we finish with a meant compliment. This is a technic, we can apply every day with our family, friends and enemies. It works like magic.Let us plant in Israel a heavenly peace oasis.Shalom and Hanuka Sameah.
36. Maybe it's a punishment for
Chaya ,   Tel Aviv   (12.05.10)
Maybe it's a punishment for telling people not to rent to Arabs in Safed!
37. ovadias laments, full of spirit
Laura   (12.05.10)
Another stupid clown making more stupid comments. The only offence I see. is this groteque charlatan showering tired Jews with his uncoherent remarks; dressed in his sunday's best, his favorite pourim outfit and making a fool of himself, as usual.. The only " thing " out of control is you and your pal Yishai. The only prayers and laments you excel in your yeshivas, is invoking the haevens for a few bucks ! ! so you and your followers won't have to get dirty hands doing some honest work, as prescribed in your sacred books
38. shas, the downfal of a free country
shlomo   (12.05.10)
Too bad, the fire wasn't raging on your tongue.
39. Exercise in idiocy
Alexandre Chinovich   (12.05.10)
To make conclusions like this one you do not need to know all Torah by heart. Enough to use just two verbs: God praises and God punishes. Your numerous pupils will listen to you with their mouths widely open .
40. Hey salma, are you related to ayatollah
jason white ,   afula,israel   (12.05.10)
yusuf or just a member of sh-ass? HaShem is real. allah is just a figment of mo's imagination.
41. Why Fire started
Rivkah   (12.05.10)
Fires start when flint and steel come together to create a spark. That is how a fire starts. Why did the fires start? First ha'Satan (also known as Lucifer and Helios) goes to YHWH and asks for permission to strike a target to test the target to see if the person(s) curse God or remain faithful in the case of God's people, just as ha'Satan went to YHWH to get permission to afflict Job. Remember? Then ha'Satan provokes an attack through demons who influence a person's mind to do harm to others accidentally or on purpose.
42. Rabbi Ovada - sometimes it's not the right time.
rebecca ,   Modiin   (12.05.10)
Just sometimes you could let the wounds heal a bit before throwing salt on them. I really believe Rav Ovada has lost his touch - with reality. He is old now. Let him rest.
43. # 33 Talula
Sagi   (12.05.10)
I take my hat off to you Talula. Calling a Rabbi an ASSHOLE and the editors allowing it to boot. Congratulations. 11 out of 10.
44. @16 Salma, here's a surprise.
Joe F.   (12.05.10)
What could your "people" have done for Allah to so utterly dispossess them?
45. #22. He said everyone...and that means religious as well.
Jae ,   Lynn US   (12.05.10)
a true religious person recognizes the need for tshuvah (self improvement)- always. Something on a national scale like this only is a loud alarm to wake up on a personal and sociological level. Why did you assume he wasnt talking about religious people too? Are they not a huge part of Am Yisrael? Are they not human? I think perhaps you should consider softening your understanding about religious Jews a little..
46. #29 #36
Bubble-Avivian ,   Bubble Aviv, Israel   (12.05.10)
@29 as a non dati I even agree with you @36 Why dont you rent our a place in umm el fahm, shfaram or some other Israeli city? Make sure to bring an Israeli flag when you try to rent over there. See that how goes hypcoritical ms.i-live-in-a-bubble in tel aviv and think Im on the rivera and there arent hundreds of thosudands of Arab Israelis who cheer for Israels pain...
47. Ynet is twisting the words, again...
Yerushalmi ,   Jerusalem   (12.05.10)
It is an age old jewish concept, when bad things happen, it is time for self reflection and self improvement. Ynet is twisting that concept into something sinister and evil... Anyone who read machzor for Yom Kippur should know about those concepts. Of course he as a haredi rabbi thinks that desecration of shabat is a major problem... Is that surprising? What is he supposed to do, become reformed, and say, "fire happened because there are not enough gay female rabbis and we are eating meat and cutting down trees." Ridiculous idea...
48. billions for millions
yankel ,   bnei brak   (12.05.10)
for the past few weeks, we had the state media with the entire circus of lefty politicians, blasting the waste of millions of shekels that will go to the yeshivos in israel, now instead of giving millions to the yeshivos, the state will be spending billions cleaning up the fire.....
49. The Rabbi is 1000% correct
(12.05.10)
50. Religion is poison
John de Frece ,   Ramat Gan   (12.05.10)
You can always be sure that whenever there is a disaster one of the rabbis, priests ,imans, fakirs will jump up with the usual drivel how can anyone with minimal intelligence actually believe this crap RELIGION IS POISON
51. Rabbi Yoseph
Nathan ,   Milano   (12.05.10)
he is the real God's punishment to Am Israel.
52. Yoseph is one of G-d counselors
Nathan ,   Milano   (12.05.10)
He should think so ! so he speaks as an idolater with non-respect and arrogance. His pupils even worst.
53. Senility in action
A ,   Belgium   (12.05.10)
This is the same deranged rabbi who claimed Israeli soldiers are killed in wars for not following sabbath. Don't they need a chief rabbi and minister of the interior in Marrakesh or Casablanca or the middle of the Atlantic somewhere?
54. ...punishment from God?
Izik   (12.05.10)
No. It's from stupid religious leaders.
55. SEPERATE RELIGION & STATE NOW!!
(12.05.10)
you can not take this clown seriously...this is the 21st century, religion should be practised at home or in the Beit Knesset....all the money that goes to the Haraedim should go to education, health care, social securities, etc..let those Haredim work, send their kids to the army, and NO MORE MONEY FROM US TAX PAYERS!! Enough is enough, there is no other country that is doing this, everybody should be equal, and the Haredim think they are better then us hardworkin people...
56. All the Rabbi did...
AB ,   TheRock   (12.05.10)
Was quote a gemara that says why fires occur. He did not say it from the top of his head. So no point in getting personal.
57. Settling our land: #9, 12, 13, etc.
Steve   (12.05.10)
The word of our ancient prophets is certain and clear; from Moses (Moshe), to Isaiah, to Jeremiah, Ezekiel, etc. We are to re-settle the desolate places in our land: "Enlarge the place of your tent; Stretch out the curtains of your dwellings, spare not; Lengthen your cords And strengthen your pegs. "For you will spread abroad to the right and to the left. And your descendants will possess nations And will resettle the desolate cities. (Isaiah chpt. 54) Sadly, Shas will give our God-given land to Israel's enemies. Shas says it might "abstain" from voting on another immoral building freeze in our land, which is in essense a vote for the building freeze; this in order to placate a racist US president. Israel's prime minister says he does not want to "rule over another people," etc. This does not bode well for the short-term future of our people.
58. Too Far this time!
Yakov ,   Tel Aviv   (12.05.10)
This disaster hits the hearts of all Israelis. Those 40 plus, who burned to death have garnered the entire country's sympathy. The families are grieving in a manner no one should ever know. So, when these wounds are fresh and sore, this kind of garbage comes out of Shas mouth. This is an insult to the lost lives, salt into the wounds of the grieving families, and disturbingly insensitive as a comment. If this is what religious Judaism is and does, I am happy I am not. To throw "God's will" at a time like this is sinful and of monumentally poor judgement. Shame on you! God is VERY unhappy that you made these comments.
59. Ovadia .
Philip ,   Afula, Israel   (12.05.10)
More and more it becomes clear that Rovad indeed thinks he is God.
60. Who will leave and who will die...
Ron ,   Melbourne, Australia   (12.05.10)
1. Who will live and who will die - I have a fairly good idea - ultimately will all die (even Rabi Ovadia) so the Yom Kippur booking system seems superfluous. 2. Amazing - first comes drought and then fire - so rather then related by higher likelihood of fire to Rabi Ovadia it is 2 separate inflictions due to lack of Shabat observance (wow - logic not his strong side) 3. Punishment for observance - OK I give us - show us your I-CONTACT-GOD itune App - I have gone through all the categories on Itune and found no such application (so how is Ovaida communicating with God to find out the reasons for things). We know how controlling Apple of what goes into the Apps Store - Even God will not get a dispensation. So if got is not communicating with him - please show us the controlled study and why trees and animals that are not required to observe shabat get punished in the process
