Sarah B, my friend, you are so right. So many answers to why that we will never know, but it was amazing how so many countries came to Israel's aid. It is always little Israel that comes to everyone's aid, no questions asked, and this horrible fire, has shown that there are still other sefless individuals and countries that have shown that there is still some goodness out there. May Ha-Shem protect the souls of those who were lost in this event. May Israel also be better preparred for any disaster of this proportion. Let's buy equipment and hopefully if will be a waste of money and never be needed again..

many thanks to all those countries -Egypt, Jordan, Italy, France, England, Russia, Greece, Turkey, Cyprus, USA - who have come to our rescue. Penny pinching (in reality - millions) that should have been spent to update our fire extinguishing services was disregarded and we have paid a heavy price in the loss of life and property. My heart aches for the losses.

Take the money from the religious parties blackmail budgets. Instead of throwing money on private religious party interests, invest the hundreds of millions for the benefit of all. The money should go to buying firefighting equipment, training, hiring and increasing the pay of the firefighters, re-planting of the burnt forests, covering the damage to the hundreds of families who lost everything, rebuilding their homes. As we can all see, the "prayers" didn't help us put out the flames. Let THEM pray for taxpayers' money. Better yet, let them WORK and PAY taxes too, instead of making children who learn nothing but to pray, dumbing them down into useless workforce.

Jordanian and Palestinian fire fighters helped out. Shukran! We gotta get some of those Canadian amphibious water bombers... wow they did a great job!

Why not tell your readers about the arabs who added to the fire, who enabled it to continue and expand for 4 days? Now everybody is busy blaming the government (not that they were right) but nobody sheds any light on the help the Arab Israelis gave to the fire holding for 4 days and starting in other places. In the end the truth will come out.

Maybe this can save lives in the future.
