1. National Monument
Michael ,   Moscow, US   (12.07.10)
Now it’s time to make these gutsy decisions: 1. Declare whole Carmel forest as a specially designated National Treasure (Monument) 2. Prohibit all activities in that area 3. Remove all population from that area (arab, druze or jewish) Israel possesses a great deal of experience in removing quite large populated areas in the past. Gush Katif comes to mind. Act now!
2. Pathetic...
leo ,   nyc   (12.07.10)
and ignorant to boot..Yishai will not live down his bigotry as evidenced by his refusal to deal with Evangelical Christians (who are Israel's most ardent supporters)... what disgraceful behavior!
3. Revaluate relations with Shas
Rachel ,   US   (12.07.10)
If Bibi had guts, he would drop Shas/UTJ, bring in National Union. Granted he would only have 61 seats, but if he ended stipends and made the Orthodox join the workforce, he would win a landslide. Having 8 kids and refusing to work is over with! The mule's back is getting too heavy.
4. Yishai is a Pathological liar
Avi ,   Israel   (12.07.10)
Naturally he had no problem misplacing puplic funds to Sh-ass run Yeshivot, which should have went to the fire service department. Apparently funding these brainless parasites who contribute nothing to society is more important to him than human lives. Are we also to presume that he stands by His Royal holliness Shas Supremes Spirtual leader Ovadia Yosef`s comments that these people burned to death because they dont keep Shabbat ? Still i guess it diverts the attention away from rounding up foreign children and deporting them.
5. What does Netanyahu fear, the truth of his own incompetence?
Yishai Cohen ,   TA Israel   (12.07.10)
For Israel to have so little preparedness to fight a fire that should not have required us to beg for international assistance is a crime against Israel itself, and one the PM himself must answer. Yishia may be incompetent, but so are all the leaders who have put plunder above the protection of those who depend upon the services they have so grossly failed to provide..
6. Poor Eli Shai
nancy tamir ,   caesarea   (12.07.10)
When will that man stop crying and accept responsibility in the negligence of that awful fire. His ministry having troubles financially?. No wonder if you think about all the benefits he gives to others.
7. Netanyahu is trying to cover his butt!
David ,   Karmiel, Israel   (12.07.10)
The Prime Minister knows very well that the people of Israel do not tolerate governments that cause the deaths of our people by gross negligence but he will do anything to retain power, even sell out the country! 47 people died as a result of government neglect of the emergency services. True, all Governments of Israel do share the blame but he was warned a year ago by the fire service chiefs of the danger and he did nothing! Let us not forget that Netanyahu is in his second Prime Ministership and hedid nothing in his first about the disgraceful state of the Fire and Rescue Services. Prime Minister Netanyahu owes the memories of those killed in the fire and their families to, at least, appoint a Government Inquiry. If he blocks it, well, then his actions will confirm that he puts his own ego before the people he is supposed to serve!
8. #6 What a dumb remark
(12.07.10)
Is Eli Yishai the Interior Minister since the creation of the state that he's responsible for the negligence? Where were all the ministers before he took the position not that long ago?
9. #8 Why start with what was?
Talula ,   Israel   (12.07.10)
He has proved time and time again that he is in the wrong job. He should be cleaning toilets in the bet knesset. Part of starting a new job is to clean up the crap left by predecessors, and, as he claims himself, there was mess - but he did SQUAT all about it - he left it all on a back burner in case he ever needed an escape goat. How can anyone not immediately address the problem of the lack of life-saving equipment? FIRST AND FOREMOST! His first priority was to funnel millions to the douchebag greedy Haredim – his one and only aim in becoming a Knesset member was to serve the Haredim and the Haredim alone.
