31. Bravo Lieberman
Louis Fried ,   Woodbridge Canada   (12.08.10)
Mr. Lieberman is correct. Turkey must apologize to Israel for allowing the Turkish terrorists to sail to Gaza with the sole intention of inciting violence.

when ego gets in the way of reconciliation. The Turks made a good will gesture when they sent planes to help fight the Carmel fire. Now, we have high-level diplomats engaging once more in rhetorical battles. I don't think it is in the long-term interest of Israel to alienate states. Recalcitrance rarely leads to progress. The foreign ministry is making a mockery of the State of Israel, they are almost as stubborn and childish as the mullahs in Iran. A simple apology coupled with a statement that countries should be responsible when they send flotillas with a political agenda into global hotspots, would be a far more level headed approach. (name calling and mockery is beneath the intelligence and honor of the Jewish people). Your friend in Cali, Tony.

apology Israel should give erdogan. Please remember, all the turks have not gone mad and want to kill Jews, just the muslum management that got elected by misguided people, just like America.

39. Both sides need to apologize but weaken not an option
Bloodyscot ,   Dallas, Texas   (12.08.10)
Turkey should not have helped IHH in flotilla, while Israel tactics to stop ship left no option but deadly force as back up. Turkey is the one countries in region that could possible defeat Israel but at very high price and nukes are not an option, since Turkey has US nukes and part of NATO. Turkey currently is making F-16's and will soon be making F-35's and has one of the best air defense system in the world thanks to US base and long range radar systems there.
40. Leiberman
JULIE ,   Israel   (12.08.10)
Leiberman is exactly what Israel needs. The usual smarmy, underhanded, forked-tongue, nod and wink politics of the world does not seve Israel's interests. Let Israel lead the world in this area also; an honest tell-it -as it-should- be- told politician. Go Avigdor.
41. thumbs up Avigdor!

42. Liberman
Dönmeh   (12.08.10)
Liberman is a radical racist and hardcore nationalist and I therefore think the words of such a man should not be taken seriously as radical people are incapable of speaking or implementing logic or sense most of the time. Israel owes Turkey an apology full stop!
43. #5 Perphaps you're right, Mark, however...
Tahl ,   Ashdod   (12.08.10)
Lieberman is 100% right on this one. Israel must not capitulate to terror no matter how important the alliance with Turkey is - as the consequences for such capitulation would be disasterous. Imagine how you as an American would feel, if America were to apologize to the Arab world for Guantanamo?
44. Turkey will pay heavy price for fighting Israel !
Jaacov Baumann   (12.08.10)
''He who curses Israel will be cursed!''
45. Juhn #8 - You are correct
David Israel ,   New York, USA   (12.08.10)
In fact the head of the IHH Bulent Yildirim was the lawyer who defended (actually volunteered and did it pro bono) the Chechen terrorists who hijacked a ship in the Black Sea as well as the members of the Turkish Hezbollah when they were tried for the bodies found in the Hezbollah (or IBDA _ C) owned buildings' basements and buried into the foundations.
46. It's not what Israel thinks.
Paul ,   Jerusalem, Israel   (12.08.10)
The fact that the guilty party, the party with malicious intent is asking the victim for an apology, just show the depraved level of weakness Israel has shown to the world. Every concession, every discussion, every wavering on the 'Land for peace', emboldens the enemy and strengthens their lies. Israel thinks they are in talks with good faith, the enemy thinks they are closer to destroying the Hebrew entity, once and for all.

AMERICAN ,   Los Angeles   (12.08.10)
Only Lieberman can stand up against islamic terror and by the way he will do a fantastic job if elected as PM.Turks are getting more and more obsessed with Israely internal afairs and looks like he's the only one who can stop their jihadists amnitions.
49. An apology to Turkey!!!!!! G-d forbid,
Spencer ,   Israel   (12.08.10)
Mr.Erdogan is an enemy of Israel. An apology to Turkey should not be entertained, Those suggesting it have either taken leave of their senses or or blatantly anti Israel I have said it before and I say it again, Israel should cut diplomatic ties with Turkey until such time as this extremits Muslim Erdogan and his cronies are out of power. When that happens Turkey will be a better place and we can perhaps resume friendly relations. The real sufferers of Erdogan are the Turks. I can't understand why they haven't revolted against this man!
50. Right On !!!!!!!!!!! but...
tom ,   tel aviv   (12.08.10)
should Lieberman become PM he is likely too "see " things that he just couldn't see while being a relatively impotent FM. And so the Saga shall continue. But for the time being: Yea, Man !!!

boys meretz, barely scraped enough voted to be a party. Lieberman is a breasth of fresh air for standing up to the barak spineless jellies that have come out of bubble-aviv. you live in a bubble avi. bubble-aviv. you should put a big dome around the city like on the simpsons. you guys are so removed from israel relaity you act like you live in amsterdam, noit the middle east. you have little awareness of the reality outside tel aviv.
52. genuine advice for Israel
Serif ,   Ankara, Turkey   (12.08.10)
Be responsible and just . Apoligize and pay compansation. That way you will show that you are a member of law abiding international community. Otherwise, you will be taken as another rouge state.
53. genuine advice for #52
Israel Israeli ,   Tel Aviv   (12.08.10)
Get rid of Erdogan and get a president who cares for Turkey. Leave occupied Cyprus and pay compensation to the Greek-Cypriots. Leave occupied Kurdistan and help the Kurdish people establish their homeland. Admit your guilt in the genocide of the Armenian people. Apologize to Israel for collaborating with the IHH terror organization.
54. Simple Magic
Cuneyt ,   Izmir&Izmir   (12.08.10)
Remove Erdogan and Liebermann that is it. Turkey needs Israel , Israel needs Turkey for civilization of Middle East. This all argument strengtens extremists. What extremists from both side bring will be only chaos. We need Israelis more than untrustworthy arabs. Arabs main goal is to destroy Turkey through religion , because we are a model to their primitive ignorant regimes. Erdogan is their ally not Turkey&Israel. we need to save our country from Erdogan.
55. Lieberman says what many Israelis think.
rebecca ,   Modiin   (12.08.10)
While Lieberman has not been the best foreign minster, he speaks the thoughts of the people, and does what we voted him in to do. There needs to be someone like that in the government, and I think Bibi knows this. Only the extreme left in Israel thinks we should apologize to Turkey.
56. Simple Magic
(12.08.10)
I agree with you one million and one percent.Bless you Cuneyt. IZMIR beautiful city and I use to eat everyday by the beach some lovely grilled fish.
57. Genuine advice for Israel no 52
JUDAH THE LION   (12.08.10)
Dear Serif, Israel should not apologise or to pay a single cent compensation to the families of the dead terrorist. Israel have told them to dock in Ashkelon and Israel will transfer the goods after inspection. They refused and were preparing for a FIGHT with the IDF. They are LUCKY it was Israel, and not some other country,as it could have been worst. What was in the shipment? Some shit out of date medicine suitable only for DOGS. Israel is not rouge state and is RESPECTED all over the world.
58. Cuneyt from Izmir
David Israel ,   New York, USA   (12.08.10)
You made a good point in your post. You can see that in Israel governments change mush more often than in Turkey. (Although Israel's democracy is not as ILERI as the AKP democracy where the Turkish police beat university students with mustard gas a few days ago) . If you can spread the Izmir (or coastal Turkey) evolution to the entire Turkey before the next election and get rid of AKP and Erdogan Israel will change easily. Hey Cuneyt there was a great bakery in Alsancak behind the Saint Joseph high school. If you get a chance stop around 3 - 4 PM and get a fresh GEVREK with a piece of TULUM cheese and enjoy that great taste for me.
59. Serif from Ankara a recommendation to read for you
David Israel ,   New York, USA   (12.08.10)
Please read Ertugtrul Ozkok's article in Hurriyet from yesterday December 7 'Omer Seyfettin Gorseydi' And please don't get me stared about which state is considered rogue in the ME after Turkey refused to for Iranian sanctions.
60. IT TURKEY WHO SHOULD APOLOGIZE TO ISRAEL
chris ,   wales   (12.08.10)
