a ash ,   tel aviv   (12.13.10)
we aere not the ones who initiated-paid for - started it - all we did was end it as peacefully as we could even though the turks came looking for blood --
2. This is crazy!
David   (12.13.10)
Even to consider apologizing to the Islamist Turkey that deliberately provoked the incident would be shameful. Giving the terrorist a compensation would be insane. Let's hope that Israeli politician show some pride and spine.
3. Apology to Turkey
Shemtov ,   Montreal, Canada   (12.13.10)
Shame on us! No apology to nobody. This bunch of thugs and violent hooligans do not deserve even a spit on the ground. Israel should never apologize for defending its soldiers!!! Am Israel hai!!!
4. turkey should apologize and pay $$
Don Rosenberg ,   Palatine USA   (12.13.10)
The stupid request by turkey is an insult to people with intelligence. turkey should pay for the cost of the incident and apologize to the world for their stupidity. Israel, don't cave in, tell the turkeys to shove it !!!!!!!!!!!!
5. I cannot believe you are even discussing it.
leo ,   usa   (12.13.10)
Erdogan seeks to be vindicated in the eyes of Turkish people. He shall not have it. The longer his likes are at the helm the longer Turkey will remain enemy to Israel.
6. Nooooooooooooooooooooooo!!!!!!!!
Malone ,   Hfx   (12.13.10)
7. As the stomach turns
Paqid Yirmeyahu ,   Ra'anana, Israel   (12.13.10)
8. Apologizing to Terrorists
Dan ,   Jerusalem, Israel   (12.13.10)
Is there any limit to the amount of weakness Israel can show to its avowed enemies who have perpetrated such open terror acts against it? Has any other country considered such submission to terror from its enemies amounting to commiting suicide?
9. Turkey needs to let bygones be bygones
Noodles ,   Coney Island   (12.13.10)
But thanks for helping with the fire.
10. Compensate terrorist militants?
Yaakov ,   USA   (12.13.10)
Only Israel would be expected and pressured to compensate or make pace with terrorists. Let's not forget those who died did so while attacking Israeli soldiers, and those who died did so while purposely breaking a naval blockade illegally. They should be lucky to get spit on their grave.
11. Hang on a second!!! they came with intent to harm!
Talula ,   Israel   (12.13.10)
They didn't come peacefully, they came armed - hell, there was even some Looney terrorist onboard! It was very nice of Turkey to send over planes during the Carmel disaster - but I'm not sure that warrants an apology. Don't forget that our boys were hurt during that raid.
12. That's all folks...
Zev ,   Scottsdale AZ   (12.13.10)
I have dedicated much of my life to explaining Israel's position and supporting the Zionist ideal. Should they actually apologize, I am going to completely give up on the obviously failed enterprise and immediately relocate to Micronesia
13. Turkey is becoming like Iran
Joe ,   California   (12.13.10)
The Turks are the ones who should apologize for sending a ship full of Islamic terrorists over to Israel and attacking their sailors.
14. Israel should not apologise like it was a Sanjak of Turkey
Alan ,   SA   (12.13.10)
15. Why? The answer is NO!!!
rebecca ,   Modiin   (12.13.10)
The only reason to discus this is to decide how loud to scream NO!
16. Excuse me...
apology? ,   ISRAEL   (12.13.10)
yo bunch of Tukey turkish terrorists puppets- who do you want t press and impress? they should and will apologize at the end
17. Idiocy!
Steve   (12.13.10)
What is wrong with these Jews? An apology is an admission of guilt on Israel's part. Turkey will inevitably suffer another catastrophe. A "natural" disaster or something. Then Israel can send Turkey help, as Turkey sent Israel help for the fires. That is all. No apologies. An apology for Turkey's part in this terror flotilla is insane.
18. "No" is not enough...
Ehoop ,   UK   (12.13.10)
Tell Baroness Ashton and the UN exactly why "No" is the only fitting answer and why Turkey should be held to account for the injuries received by Israeli marines.
19. Israel killed peace activist
frank ,   usa   (12.13.10)
I do not understand why Israeli Politicians do not apologize for killing 8 Turkish and 1 American citizens in the international waters. Israel government guilt has been verified by UN many times now, attacking a Turkish ship and Gaza war crimes and military occupation of Palestine to name a few.UN was created to be the final referee on international disputes. It is The UN created Israel in 1947
20. Israel is 'mulling' an 'apology' to the Turks...
Lee ,   Manchester UK   (12.13.10)
.. the same Turks who sent a group of jihadists to murder the Israeli Defence Forces while they attacked Israeli maritime borders!?? Have i got this right? or have i gone made mad?, has Israel gone mad!!!??? The only apology necessary here is a Turkish apology to Israel ... but thats not likely to happen, so no more to be said about this matter. The jihadis that died got what they and erDOGan wanted.
21. apology to current Turkish government
David Israel ,   New York, USA   (12.13.10)
is a bad idea. It would embolden the AKP and Erdogan in the eyes of the Turkish voters and ensure another big victory in the up coming 2011 elections. Israel should wait until after the elections. If AKP loses and a new government is formed then a form of apology can be considered.
22. If Israel
That's it ,   I have said it now   (12.13.10)
ever, gives an apology or compensate any of the Turkish scumbags then I can tell you that that will be it for me, I will give back my Israeli citizenship and say goodbye for good. I have just about had enough with this spineless good for nothing so called country
23. How to get the worst of both worlds
Danny   (12.13.10)
If Israel was going to do this the time to do it was immediately after the incident. Right now pretty much no one cares anymore and this will be spun as Israel "admitting" it was wrong and ALL the effort into trying to get the truth across will be thrown down the drain.
24. Frank @ 19, let me help you.
leo ,   usa   (12.13.10)
Israel should not apologize because it was forced to defend itself from acts of terrorists representing IHH (look it up) while hiding under the guise of peace activists. If anything it is Erdogan and Turkey who must apologize to Israel for creating this provocation.
25. This news article must either be untrue
Israeli 2   (12.13.10)
or a nightmare to even CONSIDER mulling it over.
26. Apology
Ezra ,   Florida   (12.13.10)
Yes, a BIG APOLOGY is due TO ISRAEL FROM TURKEY!!!!!!! It is the Turks who initiated the flotilla to Gaza and Israel had no choice but to do what she did. If it were the opposite I am sure that Turkey would have sunk the ship with everybody on board and ask questions later. !n 1954 El Al plane flying from Europe to Israel was shot down by BULGARIA, crashing down in GREECE, killing all 58 people on board. It took at least 20 years for the Bulgarians to " compensate " the families of the victims with about $8000 each. But Bulgaria never apologized to Israel for the UNPROVOKED MASS MURDERS that THE bULGARIANS caused By the way : Ramat Chen (58), a Ramat Gan neighborhood is named after those 58 victims. Maybe Turkey should do the same in GAZA for their 9 terrorist who tried to infiltrate through the Israeli DEFENSE AND PAID THE PRICE for what they called "HUMANITAARIAN ACTIVITY " Ynet, I sure thet if it were Selma who wrote this letter you would be glad to printg it.
27. Here is the language of apology:
Lemmings Hotline ,   sd usa   (12.13.10)
Israel apologizes for dealing with the violent civilian protestors with a military action with ensuing loss of life. The way to handle this breach is with a civilian body, like the Coast Guard, using crowd control technologies such as water cannons and propellor fouling, thus protecting Israeli vital interests and preventing loss of life. Israel needs to apologize for not being up to date on this policy, however, the lack of such a policy is reflective of the israeli Fire Dept, which is also hopelessy out of date, and is, by the way , the reason that Israel had to ask Turkey for help in the fire, predicating this apology letter in the first place.
28. defeat.
David ,   America   (12.13.10)
If apology is given and money is paid, this will be surrender. That means the floatilla was successful. Why, because if another is sent what will be the Israeli reaction? Let's suppose Turkey wishes to challenge the sincerity of Israel and does it again. You may just as well get up and march into the sea similiar to marching into the death camps.
29. sickening
David ,   America   (12.13.10)
I am about to puke at all those talkbacks speaking of how nice it was of turkey to send two planes. DON'T YOU KNOW THAT THEY DID IT TO GAIN AN ADVANTAGE OVER ISRAEL AND NOT TO JUST BE NICE? IT WAS PROPAGANDA! These islmo-terrorists knows nothing of how to be nice.
30. Will be one of the worst moves ever...
John   (12.13.10)
If Israel apologizes to Turkey and pays compensation, it will be making one of the worst political decisions in its 6 decades of existence. It will be Israel's biggest sign of weakness that it has ever displayed. No one enjoys losing an ally in the region, especially one such as Turkey. However, the Turkey we once knew is no longer. Israeli leaders need to realize this and move on without Turkey.
