1. "There is no "palestinian nation" !
ilan ,   nazareth   (12.13.10)
"There is no "palestinian nation" ! when were there any Palestinians??? LOL ,until the end of the 19th century, Palestine was the south of "Greater Syria" another resent invention. there is only an arab nation ! the word "palestine" its self is a colonial invention used by the romans in order to erase the jewish identity of judea and israel. its an intellectual fad, divorced from the concerns of uneducated people" -Professor Azmi Bishara(Arabic: عزمي بشارة)--
2. "The "Palestinian people" does not exist!"
ilan ,   nazareth   (12.13.10)
-Zuheir Mohsen (Arabic: زهير محسن)- "The "Palestinian people" does not exist. The creation of a Palestinian state is only a means for continuing our struggle against the state of Israel for our Arab unity. In reality today there is no difference between Jordanians, Palestinians, Syrians and Lebanese. Only for political and tactical reasons do we speak today about the existence of a "Palestinian people".."
3. "There is no such country as Palestine!"
ilan ,   nazareth   (12.13.10)
"There is no such country as Palestine. 'Palestine' is a term the Zionists invented. There is no Palestine in the Bible. Our country was for centuries part of Syria. 'Palestine' is alien to us. It is the Zionists who introduced it". - Auni Bey Abdul-Hadi, Syrian Arab leader to British Peel Commission, 1937 -
4. They all want to render the Jewish indefensible.

5. soon the EU will dissolve into hundreds of tribes
steve from raleigh   (12.13.10)
Thereby ending the EU.
6. NOTHING TO RECOGNIZE
BEN JABO ,   ISRAEL/USA   (12.13.10)
The Palestinian people obviously, if they truly existed, should also have left their mark or are mentioned by others. If our Academics, Historians, Politicians and others are so sure that 'Palestine & its people', go back throughout most of recorded history, one would expect them to be able to answer a few very simple and basic questions about the alleged country of Palestine & its People, the Palestinians. For example: When was the country of Palestine founded and by whom? Where did the Palestinian people originate from? What were Palestine's borders? Who were its neighbours? What language did the Palestinians speak? What writing did they use? What manuscripts or records did they leave whether written or engraved? What was their religion? Where are their temples? What monuments attest to their existence? What was the name of their capital? Name its other major cities. What was their currency called? Are there any coins that attest to their economy? What was Palestine's form of government? Name its kings or rulers. What are their achievements? With which other peoples did the Palestinians interact? Where can one find any records where in the name of the country of Palestine or its people are mentioned? What Archaeological sites can one name? Where can one find the recorded history of these people? Whom did they conquer or were conquered by? Was Palestine ever recognized by a country whose existence, at that time or even now, leaves no room for misunderstanding? Can anyone name at least Five Palestinian leaders before Arafat?
7. Ayalon told some 20 reporters from South America that a Pale
frank ,   usa   (12.13.10)
If there is one thing a Palestinian cannot understand, or If he did understand cannot forgive, it is the apathy and hypocrisy with which governments in the 'Free World', react towards issues of right and wrong in the Palestinian-Israeli conflict. Indeed, questions of morals and of justice seem to have no relevance, and policy appears in most cases to be determined solely by considerations of what one party only to the conflict might agree to, or at least not protest about.
8. European Leaders Seek a Second Holocaust
Linda Rivera ,   New York, USA   (12.13.10)
via a two-state solution rendering tiny Israel at mid-section to 9 miles wide, INDEFENSIBLE, Auschwitz borders. Was six million murdered Jews not enough for Europe's leaders?
9. Europe is on the brink
Rachel ,   US   (12.13.10)
How many countries are on the verge of going under? Spain, Portugal, Greece, Ireland, Italy. They can barely pay their own bills much less establish a Palestinian state.
10. For sure some palestinians want to
Dr.Brown ,   Seychelles Islands   (12.13.10)
emigrate to Argentina, some - to Uruguay, some - to Brazil, some - to Lebanon, some - to Syria, some - to Iran, etc. Let's think about these options. Then the problem with Palestinian state and its borders can disappear automatically.
11. Uh-oh.
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (12.13.10)
So much for a self-proclaimed ersatz "Palestinian" state. Won't happen without the EU, and the pronouncement today is simply a very stiffly polite way of telling the ersatz "Palestinians" to get lost.
12. All Land STOLEN From Jews Must be Returned!
Linda Rivera ,   New York, USA   (12.13.10)
There Never was an Arab country of Palestine. Jerusalem was Never the capital of any Arab or Muslim entity. Jerusalem is mentioned over 700 times in the Jewish Bible, not once in the Koran. The inalienable rights of Jews to the Biblical heartland must not be violated! No one is demanding Muslims surrender THEIR top religious areas of Mecca and Medina! In 1948, Egypt invaded Gaza, ethnically cleansing all Jews and in 1948, Jordan invaded Judea, Samaria and east Jerusalem, ethnically cleansing all Jews. In violent opposition to G-D, Muslim Jordan destroyed 58 synagogues in Jerusalem. The jihad is against the Holy One. When Israel won the Arab war of aggression in 1967, Jews returned to the areas of their ancestral homeland they had been ethnically cleansed from for 19 years. Anti-Israel propaganda deceitfully calls Jews' legitimate return "occupation". Jews have had a continuous presence in physical and spiritual homeland Israel for 4,000 years. All Land and Property Stolen from Jews in the 1948 Islamic Invasion Must be Returned!
13. Open letter to Mme Catherine Ashton
josef   (12.13.10)
Madame. All we hear for years and years are the repeticious and stupid complaints from the arab world. We WANT this, and that, and Jerusalem, the Kineret, the Golan, refugees return , compensation and many more outrageous demands. Did anyone, anytime asked those idiots why they allowed themselves to be coned in fighting a war of anihilation while the instigators were building palaces, racking in $ billions from oil, and ordering jets made to order? Why did they create all the miseries sustained by incompetant UN, EU, US and others (smart move), We kill and the infidels pay. Why do they continue after 62 years to teach children to kill jews, in their schools, on TV, in their mosques, the media, at home? One thing is for sure, the obnoxious mullahs. imams. ayatollahs are doing a fine job in their house of worship, sustained by their kings, despots, dictators, presidents Their shools, universities are spreading the' lets kill them' overseas among european intelligentsia ( just like the Boche did in WWII, hire foreigners to do their killing.). And what do you and your associates do in your conferance rooms?. I guess that by now you are all blase. And you want a realistic solution ( in hebrew or arabic)?. You are not going to get from us a Megido, a Jerusalem, (it's not yours to give). You are not going to get one inch back, because it wasn't given to you in the 1st place. For argument's sake Madame, what are your intentions regarding the equal amount of jewish refugees who fled from the massacres in the arab world? What are you going to do with the billions in cash, properties, entreprises stolen by arabs (their specialties), and what are you going to decide regarding the jews slaughtered by those savages?; and many more little details never discussed openly ( but for jews it's OK) by you, the EU, the UN, the US. only " Jews must give "------- Le Pere Noel va bientot passe chez vous, mais le sac marque " moyen Orient " sera vide. You see, we do not believe in Santa. --- A vous Madame, ainsi qu'a votre famille, une bonne et heureuse nouvelle annee. PS: nous esperons pouvoir vous lire bientot. Merci
14. 9 miles wide
Fred ,   us   (12.13.10)
The 1947-48 partition plan had Israel even narrower. And the Pals are already divided between Gaza and the West Bank. They are not contiguous and so it is harder for them to defend themselves. What if Israel had it's 9 mile wide waist given to Palistine? Would that make the Israel less defensable than Palestine is now? Fair is fair!
15. EU not being anti Israel here
Avram   (12.13.10)
Any reasonable person and Israeli can sse that the statement as quoted in this article is balanced and perhaps more in line with the Israeli perspective than the Palestinian perspective-2 states, realistic end to the refugee issue, shared capital, peace by mutual agreement only. Stop already claiming the whole world is against us. Even our Jewish paranoia has it's limits.
16. Ben Jabo: slight correction suggested # 6
josef   (12.13.10)
on your last line " name 5 palestinian leaders before this killer of world fame; Arafat. -- a thug, a deviant --- may he not rest in peace for eternity.
17. WEASEL WORDS
Ian ,   ניוקאסטל אָן טיין   (12.13.10)
"The Union's 27 foreign ministers convening in Brussels are expected to issue a statement saying the “EU will not recognize any changes to the pre-1967 borders, including with regard to Jerusalem, other than those agreed by the parties." If that really is what the EU ministers will declare, then the PA must have them in its pocket because that's precisely what the PA wants. The EU is sending the PA the same stupid message that Obama sent them and killed the 'Peace' Process stone dead:just remain inflexible and intransigent and all demands of Israel will be delivered on a plate. Obama had to back down(though it looks like he might not have given up all hope and is just going to rephrase it ) and the EU is going to have to back off, too, because they cannot deliver on their big words. These arrogant buffoons never learn and don't seem to be able to calculate the harm that their loose jaws cause. THREE CHEERS FOR ISRAEL!!!
18. The existence of Hamas in Gaza kills all
Cameron ,   USA   (12.13.10)
Hamas is the kiss of death for any 2-state concept - dead before it's born.
19. To: No. 14
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (12.13.10)
Excuse me, but after six wars (all started by the Arabs), nearly seventy years of unrelenting terror against Jews both in Israel and in the Diaspora and three rejected opportunities for a two-state solution, aren't the ersatz "Palestinians" fresh out of chances? How many bites at the apple do they deserve? No, the ersatz "Palestinians" have blown it. In their zeal to eradicate the Jewish State, they seriously over-estimated the willingness of the world to succumb to blackmail and to flout international law and convention in order to accommodate a belligerent terrorist rabble whose proclivity towards violence is historically documented and very well known. Sorry. Sometimes, life just sucks.
20. Sarah thanks for the laugh!
Nour ,   One State   (12.13.10)
Keep them coming sis. Seriously, you win Gold in Hasbara fest. Ersatz huh? Zionut!
21. WOW !
Salma ,   Palestine   (12.13.10)
DUE TIME MEANS YESTERDAY !
22. EU hypocrisy.
Dan Kelso   (12.13.10)
They say nothing about the 700,000 Jews forced from the Arab countries. They say nothing about a Kurdish state, Southern Sudan State, Western Sahaha and Berber state in North Africa.
23. To: No. 20
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (12.13.10)
That's quite all right. Israel has been laughing at you lot for sixty-two years. Look what Israel has accomplished, and look at what the ersatz "Palestinians" have achieved. Now THAT is certainly laugh-worthy. And yes, you are ersatz "Palestinians." Everyone knows that the real Palestinians were the Jews who came in the First and Second Aliyot. Whenever the Ottoman Turks and, subsequently, the British mandatory officials referred to Palestinians, they meant exclusively the Jews. You all were just always called Bedouins and/or Arabs. You co-opted our identity to lend yourself some legitimacy. It didn't work. No one is fooled.
24. shame on us, europeans !
bruno ,   Portugal   (12.13.10)
I'm disgusted that Europe is on its knees before the oil sheiks of Arabia ! Frankly, I am becoming more and more ashamed of my EU passport...
25. # 23 - He who laughs last, laughs best

26. Don't criticize the EU
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (12.13.10)
For once, they did something right. By refusing to recognize a "Palestinian" state and saying it is up to the parties to negotiate an agreement, they have essentially killed off any prospect for a two-state solution. They know full well that the PA will not recognize the right of the State of Israel to exist in its ancient homeland. They know full well that none of the thirty or so organizations that each purport to be the sole, true representative of the "Palestinian" people will repudiate their vile charters calling for the destruction of the State of Israel and the extermination and/or expulsion of the Jews. They know full well that the PA will never recognize the State of Israel as a Jewish State. They also know that East Jerusalem is a non-negotiable point and that after a ten-month construction freeze during which the PA did absolutely nothing to avail itself of a genuine solution, there will be no more construction freezes forthcoming. The European Union's response is basically a cold slap in the face to the ersatz "Palestinians." If the powers-that-be in the PA had half a brain, they would realize that they have played their last card .... and lost. It's all over except for the shouting.
27. #1
frank ,   usa   (12.13.10)
Israel has been able to claim native title with no clear proof of first occupancy, and in fact a lot of evidence to the contrary. Most historians (and indeed, those who wrote the Bible), agree that the Canaanites were the first peoples of Palestine. My understanding from the King James version of the Old Testament is that this land was forcibly annexed by the Israelis, who invaded Canaan and massacred the indigenous peoples there, a few thousand years B.C. The Israelites were in fact Semitic tribes from Mesopotamia, and so if they were to claim their true ancestral lands, they would have to challenge the legitimate claim of the Assyrians to an area spanning what is now called Turkey and Iraq
28. Sarah B, Give us all a break, Please!
Ray ,   US   (12.13.10)
you seem to be an intelligent person, you really dont see the world turning on the Palestinian issue? the EU the US what are they saying? what are the leaders of Israel saying today as you say, there were 3 rejected opportunities, what makes you so sure there wont be a 4th and a 5th? you know full well Israel did NOT make these offers out of good will or with out intense pressure from the world powers? further more they were made to ARAFAT with his glorious history. what offer will be made to Abbas and Fayyad this time around. the world is in love with Fayyad and his state building progress. your reactions child like when throwing a tantrum. close your eye and ears and believe what you want. get with the program, at least engage in the discussion. 1. there are 4 million people in Gaza and the West bank which Israel controls. you can call them what ever you want, they are people and i assure you they are there. you can also call the west bank what ever name you want. doesnt change any fact. 2. the world has a problem with people living under military occupation. so, now why were 3 offers of statehood made to a none existent people?
29. It Will NEVER Be
Brazen   (12.13.10)
appropriate, do you why because jordan =palistine, now sieze the momment.
30. To: No. 27
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (12.14.10)
1. Arabs come from Arabia. Duh. The ersatz "Palestinians" come from Egypt, the Hejaz in Western Arabia, Syria, the Balkans and Egypt. The only place they do NOT come from is ..... you guessed it. The Holy Land. 2. Produce a Canaanite and we'll let the DNA do the talking, okay? Good luck in finding a true Canaanite. 3. Abraham came from Ur in the Chaldees, Mesopotamia. But since Arabs claim descent from him via his illegitimate son Ishmael, that would make them Mesopotamian, too, right? Except that while G-d promised Eretz Canaan to the Jews, Ishmael and his mom got kicked out as the interlopers they were. "Ancestral lands?" Wake up and smell the coffee. Arabs are your quintessential nomads; they HAVE no ancestral lands. 4. Assyrians? Care to produce one of those, too? The last I heard, like the Canaanites, they haven't been around for several thousand years. Out of curiosity -- if I can produce a Moabite, would that mean that it would be justifiable to throw all the Jordanians out on their ear? How about the Hittites? The Hyksos? The Midianites? The Edomites? Now, let's talk about the United States. The native Americans can establish quite clearly that they populated the present-day Americas LONG before the first European settlers arrived. So, according to your "logic" (for lack of a better word), all of the tribes who were displaced by the European settlers should be restored to their ancestral homelands. The native Americans CAN establish provenance. Are you prepared to do in the Americas what you suggest Israel should do? Yeah. I didn't think so.
