1. The New Israel Fund ......
Terry ,   Eilat - Israel   (12.14.10)
Mostly, they fund anti-Zionist organizations, they're in the same catagory as J-Street.
2. erev rav
steven ,   galut   (12.14.10)
Yep...the erev rav speak rom their gated American communities and suburbs. Their chutzpah should be spat on.
3. exposing israeli racisim to outside world
Rami of NAzareth ,   Israel   (12.14.10)
I wonder how the rabbis feel about renting to balck jews and foriegn workers...
4. oh oh, fatwas War between rabbis raging!
Salma ,   Palestine   (12.14.10)
5. where were these rabbis during the building freeze
Avi Steinson ,   Tel Aviv   (12.14.10)
religious discrimination against jews is fine
6. ARABS
Sami ,   Nazareth   (12.14.10)
Arabs in Israel are Christians and Moslems - I thinks the Rabbis should reconsider their decision.
7. #1 490 rabbis from throughout the US, orthodox, conservative
David Appletree ,   NYC, USA   (12.14.10)
don't pretend that it is just the New Israel fund that is saying this when 490 rabbis from throughout the US, orthodox, conservative and reform have signed
8. #7: Why would rabbis affix their names to this?
Steve   (12.14.10)
This petition was organized by the New Israel Fund, which many supporters of Israel (with good reason) believe is anti-Zionist. Why would rabbis who love and support Israel be a party to this NIF petition?
9. NIF and Reform
Ricardo Macher ,   Karnei Shomron IL   (12.14.10)
This two movements are 2 of a kind, they don't care about religion or Torah, they care about being politically correct and looking nice in the eyes of the goyim. Of course they don't even dream about making Alyiah (why should they) and feel very comfortable in the USA, just like German Jewry felt before WWII. Most of them are lost to the Jewish People!
10. Leaders of the U.S Jewish community
Rod ,   Fargo N.Dakota   (12.14.10)
The U.S. Jewish community is so divided there are no 'Leaders'
11. Rabbis
michael Pielet ,   Boca, Usa   (12.14.10)
Rabbis, these are the same Rabbis who told the Jews to stay in Europe so that the Germans and their collaborators could exterminate them. Currently Israel has 1.500.000 arabs whose population is growing who because they are arabs will owe their loyalty to their arab brothers and never to the Jewish state of Israel. Just what Israel needs, more arabs. Better idea these Rabbis invite all Israeli arabs to move to the United States to enjoy the good life.
12. 500 Rabbis for letting to Arabs
Issy Hass ,   Ra'anana-Isreal   (12.14.10)
Sir-No one will be against any Israelis(Arabs or Jews) TO HAVE EQUAL RIGHTS,but where the 500 Rabbis when the PA issued an order to prosecute any Israeli Arabs selling to Jews please let us equal rights from the other side
13. 500 rabbis
moron ,   galut   (12.14.10)
the land shall not be sold--forever
14. Rights?
Marc   (12.14.10)
If anyone has any connection to these Rabbi's, insist that Jews are given the same rights, that Jews be allowed to live in or in the vicinity of Arab villages in the Galil also and not be discriminated against. They must also come out against the ruling that if Arabs rent or sell to Jews that they may be killed. Otherwise, please tell them they are just hypocrites and should stay in bed or move to Israel.
15. NUTSS!! Equal rights IS = Jews should not sell to ARABS
Michael ,   Canada   (12.14.10)
16. US Rabbis don't live in Israel - let them move here
Eliezer ,   Jerusalem   (12.14.10)
Only then can they voice their opinions. Sitting in the comfort of the USA theyh really have no idea of what is going on. Jews cannot buy or rent property in Muslim Arab countries and such arrangements are liable to the death penalty - so lets see these USA rabbis protest against the racism of the Arabs
17. " mostly reform in the US. " LoL
TzVi ,   NY U.S.A.   (12.14.10)
The wicked do not count. And anyway even if it was "Orthodox" Rabbis, they would have to prove the point, halahically and intellectually. Facts are that they do not know (or aren't willing) to state the truth. FACTS PLEASE. That is what is needed, and not just saying "no".
18. The article is with error and/or lie!
TzVi ,   NY U.S.A.   (12.14.10)
Rav Ovadia Yosef does not oppose the 300 Rabbis who signed. In fact his own son Rav Ya'akov Yosef signed it. ALSO Rav Ovadia Yosef Shalitta himself stated (and wrote) that selling land to gentiles is forbidden according to Halacha (it was even recently in the news). - Don't mislead people with deception.
19. Re: US rabbis speak out against rabbis' letter
Reuven Boruch ,   NY, USA   (12.14.10)
I saw a comment regarding the lack of response from the Jewish Community with respect to the bulding freeze... I'd like to ad to that... Where is the outcry from religious leaders (even Rabbis representing the Orthodox movement have been largely silent) with respect to Secretary of State Clinton pushing "final Status " including dividing Jerusalem???
20. Arrogance
shlomo ,   USA   (12.14.10)
I can see from many of the comments that there are some very arrogant and ignorant Jews commenting herein. Discrimination IS Racism no matter who does it. The fact that Arabs do it is no excuse for Jews to do the same. The principal of “two wrongs do not make a right” applies here. You do not gain favor in the eyes of the Almighty by callous disregard for the principles of Judaism. In fact you show you are weaker than your ‘enemy’ by reducing yourselves to their level. If the Arabs discriminate, so what, let them bear the brunt of international criticism for what they do; for their closed societies, for their discrimination against women, for their lack of actions to eliminate and disavow their own extremists. As Jews we must hold ourselves to a higher standard of behavior. That does not mean we have to give up the ability or the right to defend ourselves with all our might when necessary. Nor does it mean we have to accept discrimination from others. The right way to fight discrimination is in the media by exposing it and the courts of law, not by passing discriminatory laws or edicts in retaliation. And by the way, the groups that the 490 Rabbis represent probably provide 80% or more of all the outside funding for social programs in Israel and a lot of letters and emails in support of Israel to the US Government. To call them anti-Zionist or anti-Israel shows exceptional ignorance and arrogance for which you will be ultimately judged.
21. i call it fake
herb   (12.14.10)
haven't seen that one on news lately. israel newsmedia is lying
22. what a joke
observer   (12.15.10)
National Religious rabbis proclaim a ruling and MO's and Conservatives squawk in mock fury. Let's see how they would behave when 'shvartzers' or worse 'muslims' suddenly start moving into their up-market enclaves. Of course, nothing would appear in writing - they're much to savvy for that - but I wouldn't like to be in the shoes (or shrouds) of the people who sold or rented to the newcomers.
23. I wonder just how many of the U.S. Rabbi's
BEN JABO ,   ISRAEL   (12.15.10)
are living in minority neighborhoods. unafraid to go out at nite Or have they fled to the suburbs for the safety of their families and themslves
24. 3- Rami
BEN JABO ,   ISRAEL   (12.15.10)
How many Jewish neighbors do you rhave in Nazareth ? Racism, for goodness sake, take the time and effort to research how your Koran states how Dhimmi's are to be treated, which includes all non-Muslims
25. US rabbis
Gary Glaser ,   Hutchinson, MN, USA   (12.16.10)
If they are worried about discrimination, maybe they should look into how many Jews could rent or buy property in Ramallah. Or, for that matter, what about Beirut. If you are not against discrimination on both sides, you're not really against discrimination.
26. Hit them where it hurts - no US nepotism - no dinero
Josh   (12.16.10)
27. 490 rabbis
nossen tzvi ,   J-M   (12.29.10)
It is odd that the American Rabbis will present our Chief Rabbis with their "moral high road " petition when they know very well that ours hold most of them in very low esteem. - just for trying to put the Jews who live in Zion in a bad light . Rabbis Yosef & Eliyashiv say that we should not upset the non-Jews but you rabbis think that it is a moral given for you to interfere in our internal affairs. I dread the day that most of you would come on Aliya. The weight of your higher morality will lessen our ability to maintain Israel as a Jewish state.
