1. Cherries are better for pain without being toxic like soy.
Rivkah   (01.15.11)
There is aluminum in soy. It is the N. 1 food source for aluminum (soy products). Aluminum increases the risk of dementia and brain inflammation, putting people at risk of neurodegenerative diseases like Alsheimer's, Parkinson's, and amyotrophic lateral sclerosis or Lou Gehrig's disease. In America, 80 per cent of the soy is GMO or genetically modified which causes gastro-intestinal distress. Soy has estrogen and it lowers sperm count in males and causes premature puberty in females and small penises in males if the male baby is given soy formula and the mother eats soy while pregnant. It is a lifelong deformity of a small penis in adulthood. The only thing soy prevents is good health. Hundreds of studies have linked soy proteins and its derivatives to the following: heart disease, cancer, especially of the breast and female reproductive parts, allergies and reduced immunity, thyroid dysfunction, malnutrition and digestive problems, nutrient deficiencies, including calcium (vital for prevention of osteoporosis, reproductive disorders, cognitive and mental decline, psychosexual problems. Get a copy of "The Whole Story: the Dark Side of America's Favorite Health Food" from www.wholesoystory.com . Newsmaxhealth.com newsletter of January 2, 2011 has more information of the toxic aspects of soy. Toxicologists estimate that an infant fed exclusively on soy formula is getting the equivalent of three to five birth control pills--per day! One study found that soy fed babies had 13,000 to 22,000 times more estrogen in thei blood than milk-fed babies! That is according to the Office of the Swiss Federal Health Service Bulletin #28, July 20, 1992 and the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition, 1998, 69(supplement) 1453S. Dr. Al Sears (MD) says he hates and loathes soy because it is so damaging. BEWARE OF SOY! DON'T EAT IT!
2. studies say that non-fermented soy isn't good
chava ,   yerushalayim   (01.15.11)
But what about the current studies that show that non-fermented soy is estrogen-rich, and can CAUSE breast cancers? (Tofu is non-fermented. Tempe is fermented.)
3. Soy has its own problems
David B ,   St Louis, USA   (01.15.11)
Soy is full of phytic acid, one of the highest concentrations of any grain, which is an antinutrient. Consumption of soy has been correlated with low sperm counts in men. Soybeans also contain potent enzyme inhibitors. These inhibitors block uptake of trypsin and other enzymes that the body needs for protein digestion. Cooking does not get rid of them. Soybeans also contain hemagglutinin, a clot promoting substance that causes red blood cells to clump together and prevent them from performing their functions. Also, experts have found that children who develop Type 1 diabetes are twice as likely to have been fed soy formulas as those fed all other foods. Ninety nine percent of all crop soy plants are genetically modified and are one of the most heavily pesticide treated crop plants Processing into soy protein isolate ameliorates some of these problems but not all. PLus the processing methods leach aluminum into the final product and the high heat denatures much of the proteins, thereby making them unusable to the human body. And the spray drying process creates a large percentage of nitrites which are believed to be carcinogens. Most important for people with thyroid problems, soy contains goitrogens which depress thyroid function!! Remember that most of the hype surrounding the benefits of soy came from the soy industry themselves in order to sell their product. Soy is a cheap filler with minimal taste, just the kind of thing that big business likes to add to food products. But they don't really care about your health. Oh yeah, and it is a GMO.
4. "Possibly safe" is not good enough
Sue ,   Los Angeles   (01.15.11)
There is conflicting information about the safety of soy. The soybean industry is big busine$$ and may be promoting its product at the expense of our health. The female hormones (estrogen) in soy may be beneficial for women, but may have a feminizing effect on men and boys (enlarged breasts, etc.). I would be afraid to give soy milk to a baby. WebMD says soy is "possibly safe" or "likely safe" - meaning THEY DON'T KNOW. Also, soy interferes with anti-depression medication. Check labels on processed foods. Soy is in everything.
5. 1#, I eat lots of Golan' cherries, blueberry and raspberry
Judah ,   Golan Heights,ISRAEL   (01.15.11)
All very healthy.
6. Find out who paid for the research
Jake   (01.16.11)
Probably the soy farmers of America. Or some other soy-related food manufacturer.
7. rodent studies on pain killing
observer   (01.16.11)
so, they had the research in inflicting pain on or killing of rodents?
8. baaaaa depends what kind of pain,
ghostq   (01.16.11)
for example accident pain it will be useless, when the lil wife talk and you got head ache it is useless, in other words, don't relay on this research that much.
9. to #1 aluminium is man made metal
ghostq   (01.16.11)
it is not something you can find in nature, unless you prosces the soya and there is byproduct you get aluminium, that is y industrial food is not recomanded, got nothing to do with the fact that soya got good and bad qualities, one person food is other person poisen, it is not totaly correct, so if you want to be more acurate cherries r fine as long as none suffer from Diabetes. very high level of sugar.
