A terrible war will break out. It will be unlike what we have known up till now. I am personally not worried in the least bit because our competent Government has provided sufficient funds to fight this war. These funds have been given to some 800000 leeches who will all put on their prayer shawls and leather straps etc. and bury their noses in holy books reciting nonsense. I know that because of this we shall win the war and survive again. Have no fear, God is here. He shall beat all the missiles thrown at us. Leeches plus "God",the ultimate weapon for which our enemies have no answer.

34. Far too optimistic
Israel Israeli ,   Tel Aviv   (12.20.10)
This article is far too optimistic. In 1973, Israel controlled Sinai, Jerusalem, Judea, Samaria and Gaza. Thanks to Barak and Sharon, rockets from Lebanon and Gaza will make drafting reserves virtually impossible and cause massive civilian deaths. For the first critical days, Israeli airports will be closed. The situation will be far worse if Anat Kam and Uri Blau succeeded in selling their information to Hezbolla. In 1973, Israel's Arab citizens supported their country. Now, thanks to the extreme Left, a small but significant proportion of Israeli Arabs will attack the home front, leading to anarchy and polarization. Dayton's army, based on the criminal Kosovo Liberation Army established by the CIA, will attack the refugees, the aged, woman and children in the Jewish villages in Judea and Samaria. And Israel will be isolated: thanks to the activities of Israeli organizations like Betselem and NIF, and Jews like Goldstone and Rahm Israel will have very little international support.

Well, it's nice to be a nuclear power, too. Get rid of Israel's problems once and for all. All it takes is one; then everybody falls in line.
37. Leftist rubbish from first sentence to last.
Chaim ,   Israel   (12.20.10)
Aren't we all tired of the decades old "closing window of opportunity" hoax urging us to surrender our tiny Homeland to "Palestinians"? Like a broken record, we hear the same rubbish from leftists. Israeli history proves the best way to bring on war is to cede our land. Our last two wars are 100% results of Israeli retreats from South Lebanon and Gaza. This article is leftist rubbish from first sentence to last.

Are you telling me that a nuclear bomb is more powerful than funny hats and leather straps. Hard to believe.

Marcella   (12.21.10)
Yours is a realistic assessment, although we know it's even worse. There is a great need to leave political correctness aside and to discuss that scenario. But according to the present PC fantasy world, authorities tell us that the Carmel arson was an accident. And Likud MK Orbach makes the rounds of protests against infiltrators telling people to make sure they don't mention infiltrators' acts of theft and aggression. Soldiers are punished for doing their job. Citizens are charged for defending their lives. Denial, denial, denial. That's today's state of mind. - It's not partition, it's peace. - It's not bullying, it's negotiations. - It's not terror, it's "criminally or nationalistically motivated" acts. - Arab hate speech is disregarded. But right wing talkbackers are intimidated through government collection of IP numbers. And so on. In the meantime many Israelis vent their frustrations against safe and easy targets, such as the settlers and the Haredim. ~~~~~~~~~~ Uri Misgav seems to imply that the only option is to make "peace". That is - to shrink Israel even further for the sake of a truce. Because that's all you can hope for in exchange for crucially vital swaths of land. All the while hoping that by making Israel smaller and its enemies bigger and stronger, war will not happen and Israel will be safer!!! ~~~~~~~~~~~ I hope that other columnists and talkbackers will continue to discuss the issues you raised. Israel appears to be in a process of SLOW-MOTION NATIONAL SUICIDE. It's all up to Israel to survive. No matter who is in the White House, the funding and arming of Israel's enemies will continue, as will the pressure to shrink the country. And the UN and ISM will continue their diplomatic war against the IDF, turning it into a timid bunch of soldiers toting paint guns and in direct communication with IDF lawyers during confrontations. Israel needs to assert its right to the land and to increase and improve the quality of its military arsenal. But more urgently than that it needs to make drastic corrections to its mindset if it hopes to survive. Israel is dealing with murderous thugs and deceitful allies. The rule of the game should be to win. Not to get points in an international popularity contest.

The argument that even Chicken Little could be right was good enough for a children's movies doesn't make the thesis nobel prize material. Problem is that some people are just sick in the head.
42. was this article defaintely not written by Gideon Levy?
zionist forever   (12.21.10)
There is no doubt that both the political & military establishment were negligent in 1973 but the current situation has no resemblence 1) The saudi plan just dictates. Israel either accepts it in full & arabs will recognise Israel but If we don't accept it in full no deal. Whilst we might like some elements of the plan & dislike others but thats not an option its take it in full or leave it 2) The individuals responsible for this stalemate with the palestinians are Abbas & Obama. Obama solution to everything is harm Israel, say nothing to Abbas he will always be in the right and just back any demands he makes of Israel. Abbas was making all kinds of pre conditions if he was going to honour us and talk about creating a state for his people BIbi gave him a 10 month freeze as a gesture to entice him to talks. Abbas said a freeze is not enough he has more conditions to accept if he is going to agree to talk. Finally in the ninth month he agrees to talk but then when the freeeze ends Abbas walks away again. Bibi wont give Abbas an extension to for nothing in return. Obama comes along with a offer we cant refuse of free planes, the freeze will not include Jerusalem & there will be no further freeze demands when this one ends. The cabinet including Shas accept on the condition Obama puts it in writing and then things start changing. If we want the planes we must pay for them, the freeze must include Jerusalem and if the talks don't deliver results during the freeze Obama will not rule out demanding another one. Suddenly the freeze Israel was on the verge of offering doesn't happen because Obama proved once again we can't trust him. Obama talks alot about his desire to see talks take place but he refuses to demand anything from Abbas. All Obama needs to do is say to Abbas you want me on your side then end the pre conditions so we can get on with talking rather than playing childish games. If he tells the Arab League that as president of the United States & he is laying down some new rules. When Abbas runs to the Arab League they will tell him play ball with Obama. Obama & Abbas are the obstacle to talks not Bibi or Shas. 3) Assad does not and never has been serious about peace making. He even said himself he will not offer a full peace treaty in exchange for the Golan instead he will give some kind of official ceasefire. We already have the Golan & an unofficial ceasefire so what do we get by accepting Abbas demands other than a huge debt which could possibly run into the tens of billions? We would be sharing Kineret water with Syria & Syria will probably get US financial & possibly military aid. Assuming Assad breaks ties with Iran what then? Its Iran who pays Assads debts and gives him weapons.... Iran does not need Syria. Is a treaty with Syria going to make Iran end its nuclear program, stop them pointing missiles at Israel? Will it stop them arming Hizbollah who operate out of Lebanon not Syria. Assad also knows he cannot afford to stop supporting Hizbollah in favor of a treaty with the zionist entity at the expense of supporting the Hizbolllah heros. Assad will end up in the same place as Rafik Hariri and he knows it. This is not 1973, the problems we had then & today are not the same & surrender is not the best policy.
43. ISRAEL,PIECE BY PIECE,THAT WHAT ABBAS WANT
