...people have to open their own businesses because veteran Israelis do not want to employ them. Officially, it is because of the language, lack of Israeli experience, etc., in fact, this is nothing else but fear of competition.

Did Russian Jews save Israel? You have to ask? They created it and they saved it, time and time again. When I visited Israel for the first time in 1980 I was struck by how closely an average sabra an average American in terms of high levels of both, ignorance and hubris. Moreover, Israelis were far more loud and schlubby in their public behavior. A product of decades worth of oft misguided effort of trying to create the new, salt-of- the earth Jew . Well, guess what, it was the grandchildren of the fiddler on the roof who having benefitted tremendously from their free and excellent Soviet education, came to Israel and kinda saved it from itself and put it on top of the world in the fields of science, industry, and culture.
