It is an utter disgrace to have to watch these Israeli firefighters, who are true heroes, beg and fight for the proper funding they need and deserve. Instead of investing this money where it should be, yet again it will be squandered on the parasites of Israeli society. There is a problem in the fire system, but it isn't necessarily one of budget. Fire fighters earn an average monthly salary of 16,000 NIS a month. Not bad for a job that requires no more than a high school education. This is a time to reform the system and to make sure that the money is invested into a system that can do the job. BTW, blaming the hareidim is simply trying to make money from hardship.

With all due respect to the firefighters who fought the Carmel fire, everyone knows that the existing firefighting service is politicized and inefficient. Instead of throwing money at the same service, a new service must be established to efficiently combat the fires that the Arab terrorists will set during the next war. YNet should publish the excellent plan outlined by senior journalist Amnon Lord.

Politics is one thing but there is nothing political about the deaths of 44 people due to negligence! The Prime Minister and his "poodle" Steinitz are doing everything in their power to whitewash this disaster and unless the people of this country get off their butts and demand a State Inquiry the matter will be forgotten is a little while. Everybody is entitled to their share of the money pot including the haredi. Firefighters, defense, religion, teachers, hospitals every single group always feels they didn't get enough. As the seculars don't go to yeshiva they have no appreciation of them and see no reason why their existence should be financed ( these places would not have the money to survive without state funding ) True the fire fighters should have been given extra money and if it should have come from taking a little bit from all ministries not just saying nothing to the yeshivot. Also Israels political system is based on coalitions. There are currently 12 parties in the Knesset, at least twice that number stood for election and all of those parties except for Likud, Kadima & Labor are single issue parties who seek election for the sole purpose of joining coalitions and promotion of their cause is the price. The religious parties are not the only single issue parties in it for themselves. Yisrael Beitanu & National Union are the other single issue parties in the cabinet who are there to buy support for their pet cause. Until we change the system to one where we have maybe 3-4 parties major parties where winner takes all so we can end coalition and single issue government then things will carry on the same as usual doesn't matter if its Likud, Kadima or Labor running the show. If we got rid of the religious parties some other single issue parties would fill their shoes and demand money. Its not just the haredi its the system as a whole.

What value have haredim for this country? What are they useful for? They only create rift among Jews and contribute nothing to the country other than draining resources for themselves and their no-religion. Besides,they are mentaly sick .They are people living in the shtetl where there is no shtetl anymore. What do Netanyahu, Ishai or Steinitz have to do with any alleged negligence that lead to the deaths? There were only two ways to prevent the deaths: close the road they drove on (a police decision because the firefighters asked to close it) or to send UAVs to give a real picture of the fire. If you want to blame a politician, why didn't Barak order the UAVs?
