Yes in one sense it is a pity but that is the wheels of what makes our economy thrive after all. Millions upon millions are made on our exports. If that didn't happen we would pay well over 20 percent tax on what we buy . To think anyone owes us perfect peppers is a consequence of this semi socialist once complete socialist society. Thus far the fairytale 'that one merely pulls money off a tree' to pay for all these government programs has baffled even the most brilliant of our scientists and horticulturists. In the end 'Natalie Irene Wood' our shuks offer very beautiful and varied selections of produce at some of the lowest prices of anywhere in the world. (Have you been to a U.S or French, Italian farmers market where prices are out of sight?) We are lucky in most respects except when spoiled unionized farmers throw our produce onto the highways because they claim they have no one to pick them. Well after they took a lot of that produce for themselves for FREE but NOT after they distributed that produce to the poor because that never happened. (cut the welfare checks and there would be plenty or take non threatening prisoners out to pick) The point is this was UNION theatrics at it's best. Hmm.

The more the merrier, with varieties of tastes. Peppers have more nutritional value, however, when they are fully ripe, rather than picked green. It is paradoxical that peppers are in the same plant family, Solanaceae, or Nightshade, which also comprises tobacco and Datura. All of them form heterocyclic alkaloids of one sort or another, such as solanine and nicotine.

By the way, I forgot to suggest: Someone should compile and publish a recipe book that contains different recipes for the different varieties of peppers, showing why a particular variety is needed for the taste the chef wants.
