The death of any Jew is a loss for us, and I am sorry that he died. I don't follow soccer so I never heard of this guy and don't understand why Jews should make soccer players into celebrities. It is beneath our dignity.

The late Avi Cohen became famous here when he was the very first Israeli football player to play for a foreign football club, Liverpool. It is not beneath our dignity to appreciate good sportsmanship. He was a mensch & an upright Jew with strong family ties.

A disgrace and curse on the family. Avi left a will that he wished to donate his body to transplants. Showing thier disrespect the sons decided not to do Avi's wish and command. The supposed to be rabbis advised the sons not to do the farther's wish !!!Sick religions.Hope that Avi will be remembered for what he wished and that the family be cursed forever more !!!!!!!!!

I am a former organ donor coordinator and let me offer something: At least 30% of potential donations are stopped when a relative objects, which is their moral and legal right to do so. Keep something in mind, it is their experience too. Many people find the idea of donation horrible and offensive. It is important to honor their wishes because part of the gift of donation is to not leave moral objections on the hearts of the bereft. The dead leave behind people who are grieving, and while they have every right to announce their intention and wishes to donate, the fact is once a person dies the feelings of the survivors become paramount. The human body is butchered in the process of donation. The procedure itself is done (except for major organs) by low level techs who play rock music and tell jokes. It is not a sacred scene but more akin to a chicken butchering at a warehouse. This is why rabbis should object to donations in many cases. I witnessed a procedure, returned to my office and quit my job. It was intensely offensive. Since then I have been informing people about what really happens in those horrid rooms. If people want to donate that is fine, but they are not informed that the body is seriously violated. This is the failing of the system. But the fact remains that family has the final say and that is the best way. The living have to carry on knowing they did the right thing for themselves and the honor of their loved one.

My comment was directed only to the fact that the stupid Israeli media make soccer players into celebrities.
