2. Egypt always will wait for right moment to attack Israel.
Alan ,   SA   (12.31.10)
The peace treaty was just a way to recover Sinai without firing a shot.... Sometime in the future under some other "Government" they will try their luck again.
3. it's hard dealing with pre-pubescent adults

Israel Israeli ,   Tel Aviv   (12.31.10)
So the Americans are crying that they thought the bought the Egyptians and don't get enough for their money. Egypt has its own interests and they will always supersede the American interests. The real problem is that soon Mubarak will be dead. By propping up this dictator, the Americans guaranteed that when he dies, the Brotherhood will take over and all their investments will disappear. What's funny is that the same will happen with the Saudis.
6. Israel & US aid
observer   (12.31.10)
Israel is NOT getting 3 billion of our tax dollars per year. Go look it up, you will have to search very hard. They are only reporting US Tax dollars given as military aid to Israel that is written down on paper, and even that is a lie. Israel just got 15 billion last year, so the media is lieing even about the actual amount of money that is written down on paper. The fact is that when you consider all the Military, economic, Housing, Infrastructure, and all other aids given to Israel, and adding to it the additional money and resources that are given to Israel "under the table", you will notice that Israel is getting at least more than 90 billion dollars of US tax dollars per year. Now add to it the Holocaust extortion money that they get from Germany and other European countries. Also consider that the US went to war with Iraq and has spent more than one trillion dollars in that war, which was all done for the benefit of Israel. why American taxpayers are supporting indirectly, through the tax-exempt contributions, a process that the government condemns. why the Americans' tax money is used to feed the settlers and shelter them? Every dollar that goes to settlements makes Middle East peace that much harder to reach.
7. Egypt & international law
observer   (12.31.10)
Egypt has been hindering the efforts in preventing genocide & delivery of humanitarian aid; against the "jus cogens" status which supersedes the international law. It's flagrant case of breaching the peremptory norms (jus cogens law). Latin meaning: "compelling law." This "higher law" must be followed by all countries. For example, genocide or slave trade may be considered to go against jus cogens, due to peremptory norms. So, what's genocide if it is not stanglulating siege in the air, water and ground acess of Gaza; starving and bombing 1.5 million residents? The 1986 Vienna Convention on the Law of Treaties affirmed jus cogens as an accepted doctrine in international law. The illegal thing here is the siege. Had Egypt even signed the crossing agreement (which it didn't), it would still have been beaching the "jus cogens" law.
8. Egypt is smoking crack
J K ,   NYC, USA   (12.31.10)
They want more $ from the US in aid and are complaining about Israel? Israel provided the US with invaluable intel about the region, partners with the US for research and development and much of the aid comes back to the US in the form of jobs for Americans. The aid the US gives to Egypt goes into the same black hole most of the foreign aid the US hands out goes to. Maybe if Egypt produced or did something of worth they'd have increased aid. The US gets a fantastic ROI from Israel. What are they getting from Egypt? Figurative goose eggs.
9. MORE LIES
Ian ,   Newcastle upon Tyne   (12.31.10)
Here we go again; "Hossam Sweilam, a retired Egyptian army general, says Egypt continues to view the defense of Sinai, the mostly desert peninsula standing between mainland Egypt and Israel, as its core mission. Despite the peace treaty with Israel, he said, there are recurrent threats from Israeli officials that justify this doctrine. " The creation of a new anti-Israel myth. THREE CHEERS FOR ISRAEL!!!

Speaking of crack-induced fantasies, observer,#6, has gotten off in an antisemitic wetdream of bullshit mixed with hate- how does he know the exact amount of "under the table deals" if indeed there are any ?What a fitting display of end-of-year fireworks!
13. to observer, where are the $billions given to plo/a
martin ,   uk   (12.31.10)
back in the '90's, the state dept was unable to account for the billions of aid the usa (and others) had given to the plo/pla. we know that arafat's widow, suha receives an annual stipen of $16 million per annum from abba. to israel, ignore the u.s. statements regarding the egyptian. i remember the successful propaganda regarding the woeful condition of the egyptian and syrian armies right upto the yom kippur war in 1973. treat with cynicism.

16. Egyptian paper Praised Tel Aviv bombing
Linda Rivera ,   New York, USA   (12.31.10)
After the 1979 peace agreement Israel made with Egypt where Israel surrendered the Sinai to attacker Egypt; triumphant and victorious Egyptian President Anwar Sadat, boasted in a New York Times interview: "Poor Menachem, he has his problems... After all, I got back... the Sinai and the Alma oil fields, and what has Menachem got? A piece of paper." For signing this worthless piece of paper the U.S. gifts aggressor Egypt with 2.2 billion dollars every year. The rewards are enormous for those who attack Israel. The Bloody Peace Egypt Offers Israel: Associated Press Egyptian paper praises Tel Aviv bombing State-controlled Al Gomhuria calls Monday's suicide bombing 'sacrificial, martyrdom attack,' warns more attacks to follow 04.18.06 An Egyptian state-controlled newspaper praised Monday's suicide attack in Tel Aviv, which killed nine people and wounded dozens, calling it an act of sacrifice and martyrdom. http://www.ynetnews.com/articles/0,7340,L-3241041,00.html Egypt created the PLO. The PLO Charter calls for the destruction of Israel. The Arab League's Charter states its goal is to eradicate the Zionist entity.
17. Egyptian Security Fired on Christian Protesters
Linda Rivera ,   New York, USA   (12.31.10)
Assyrian International News Agency Egyptian Security Used Live Ammunition on Christian Coptic Protesters, 4 Killed 11-30-2010 ...A four-year old child suffocated from tear gas thrown inside the chapel. ...security forces opening fire on protesters demanding their constitutional right to worship without arbitrary interference or discrimination. The official figures of the incident were 2 death, 67 wounded and 170 Copts arrested. However, the Coptic Youth Front said in a statement that more than 300 people were wounded and over 1000 detained, including women. According to the statement, many wounded refrained from going to hospital for treatment for fear of being arrested. International Coptic lawyer Dr. Awad Chafik said that the number of detainees is enormous, but because Coptic families are hiding for fear of further arrests, it is difficult to get the correct numbers. Wagih Yacoub, a human rights activists, complained about the treatment of the wounded. "They were shackled to their hospital beds and then sent to detention camps." http://www.aina.org/news/20101129225702.htm We must hold worldwide protests against the jihad waged against Christians by the State of Egypt.

19. Egypt Kidnaps Christians
Linda Rivera ,   New York, USA   (12.31.10)
The world is shamefully silent over the Egyptian government and Saudi Arabia involvement in the kidnapping of Christian Egyptian girls in Egypt. Kidnapped Christian female children are violently converted to Islam and forcibly married/raped to adult Muslim males. Assyrian International News Agency 8-11-2009 Abduction and Forced Islamization of Christian Coptic Girls Continues in Egypt (AINA) — The systematic abduction and forced Islamization of Coptic minor girls in Egypt is a frequent, dangerous and a rapidly escalating phenomenon. Coptic Pope Shenouda III, December 17th, 1976: “there is pressure being practiced to convert Coptic girls to embrace Islam and marry them under terror to Muslim husbands” and demanded that the abducted girls be brought back to their families. Abductions are done in cooperation between Saudi-funded associations and the Egyptian State Security. …in the majority of cases, the State Security is the one who masterminds the kidnapping plans.” http://www.aina.org/news/20090811125748.htm The U.S. gifts Egypt with 2.2 billion dollars every year.

21. The Sphinx is still standing,
josef   (12.31.10)
but the Egyptians are rotten to the core.It only shows the stupidity of the State Dept (never a jew lover) and the White House for the past 31 years. This despite the fact that most if not all anti- Israel, anti-jewish, anti-semitism originate from Egypt. It's all in the open; TV, magazines, full media, universities, mosques, and of course govt. All want to eradicate the Jewih State; the Elders of Zion is freshly reprinted every year in Egypt, the fresh children's blood required for the baking of Matzah is a constant reminder of Egypt's US paid for modern education, a monumental failure. Of course, the constant yearly flow of $ bllions given to them in order to improve their lot , has produced no changes in the miserable life of the farmer; the lack of food, healthcare, education ( except that hatred for israel is always kept up-to-date) . America, one of your gravest mistake, was not to allow the IDF to finish off the Egyptian army encircled in the Negev desert in 73'. After all the years of "peace" the Egyptian dream is achieving military parity with with Israel. Anyone in Washington asking why ? ?I suppose the answer will come not before Egypt explodes, after Mubarak.
22. Israel & US Aid
Andrew Michaels ,   San Diego CA   (12.31.10)
Every penny the US spends in Israel is worth ten times that amount, the US tax payer is getting more for their money than they get from their own politicians.
23. 8 - much of the aid comes back to the US in the form of jobs
split ,   US   (12.31.10)
Save us your hasbara crap ,... It would be more practical to GIVE the money (3 billion) directly to an American families so that 25% of the amount that ends up in your coffers plus interest would stay in US and we wouldn't create an enemies in Muslim world ,...

26. egyptian fixation on Israel is pathological
dante ,   uk   (12.31.10)
Israel wants only good relations with egypt. there are no bilateral issues that would prevent that...except some ridiculous and self-defeating egyptian paranoia and the needless willingness to adopt the obsessions of others. if the egyptians truly remembered the terrible price they paid for belligerence, they would cherish and work for a true peace with Israel.
27. stop war in a way saving Israeli leaders' faces = Sinai+aid
observer   (01.01.11)
US let Israel stretch 1973 truce. The United States gave Israel the green light to keep fighting Egypt and Syria after the official time for a cease-fire in the war of October 1973 and even encouraged it to do so, according to the released U.S. government documents. "You won't get violent protests from Washington if something happens during the night, while I'm flying," U.S. Secretary of State Henry Kissinger told Israeli Prime Minister Golda Meir at a meeting in Israel on the afternoon of Oct. 22, 1973, a few hours before the deadline for a U.N. cease-fire. 50 Israeli tanks stepped 100 km from Cairo versus 500 Egyptian artillery and an army of anti-tank missiles. What prevented Egypt from crushing the Israelis? it was nothing but fear from the despaired Israel using nuke. Over 2.800 Israelis had been killed, at least 7,500 had been wounded, and some 500 had become POWs. it the US had experienced equivalent losses in the Vitnam war, it would have suffered 200,000 American dead- afigure four times the actual number. The stand of the Israelis was very weak to the extent that after less than a year Israel pulled back leaving a strip east of Suez Canal and in 1982 Israel left Sinai altogether. Israel was saved by the USA who promised the Egyptians to get all their land back by peace negotiations if they stop the war in a way that will save the faces of the Israeli leaders. Egypt got all of its land back plus 2 billion Dollars/year from the USA.

29. It's just baksheesh
steve from raleigh   (01.02.11)
Money to Arab, North African and Islamic states is just a politically digestible form of baksheesh, e.g. bribery. Everyone understands that the money goes to bank accounts of the rulers and their delegates.
30. Just a pointer to #29
Omar ,   Egypt   (08.09.11)
Baksheesh is actually tips, the kind you give to waiters and stuff, not bribery.
