And before the haredim had 'such massive political power' what was interfering with their integration? This is just another dismal lefty shooting off his mouth.
3. Who are you fooling?
Yehuda ,   Ashdod, Israel   (01.05.11)
And most seculars want to be religious, but peer pressure is a major obstacle. So let's force them to be religious. Sounds like the author of this article is a pompous ass!
4. they are taught not to work
a ash ,   nyc   (01.05.11)
lets admit it -most yeshivas frown on work and tell the students to learn the whole day saves you from the outside world- i guess they dont have faith in what they teach and want to keep the students ignorant and closed minded
5. Abroad most of them work
Charles ,   Petach Tikva   (01.05.11)
6. You can have childish reactions "lefty"...
Czarkazem13   (01.05.11)
But the truth is Israel didn't care about the Haredim not working because their numbers were low, as their numbers grew so did their political might (which has roots in the secular Jews trying to get Orthadox immigrations in the middle of the 20th century - but that's a whole different story). However, by that time (and do to the slowness of the Israeli government), we are at the situation we are in now. Now, you can add something to the article or you can retort like a 10-year old boy, which you did by "shooting off" your "mouth."
7. Take that bloody welfare teat out of their mouths.
Al   (01.05.11)
In jiffy pop time not only will they work, they will dominate many speres of economic activity. They have the mind set to excel and they have the stamina for detail. They can do lots..Take that bloody welfare away. Welfare stangles capable people. It demoralizes them and renders them useless in their minds and in the minds of others.
