1. Life is a two way street!
Phil ,   Flushing, USA   (01.04.11)
It can equally be said that based on the evidence presented the left and pro palestinians groups jumped to their own conclusions to garner anti-israeli sentiment. You fight fire with fire. To put out their equally unverified statements you do what you must with what is presented, because nobody cares about the truth later on. You must seize the moment! We are fighting a war against enemies who do not care about facts and truth, but just headlines that put us down.
2. Fighting a war Phil?
RepStones ,   Ireland   (01.04.11)
Yeah sure you are....all the way over there in the US of A !
3. flushing
pete ,   uk   (01.05.11)
hmm.... an appropriate name flushing.. straight down the toilet that one... because nobody cares about the truth... so what was all the fuss about Goldstone then
4. There's an obvious reason Pals rushed to bury the "victim"
Raymond in DC ,   washington, USA   (01.04.11)
They initially refused to provide the medical reports or jointly investigate the incident with IDF personnel. The obvious reason is that they were trying to get a working "narrative" they could use against the IDF. No autopsy means they're burying the evidence of their lies. But they've overplayed their hand. Their attempt to create another "al-Dura" has failed.
5. So how did she die?
rebecca ,   Modiin   (01.04.11)
One report is from the tear gas. another is from Cancer. Dr. Iyda, says she died of a heart attack - did she have a previous condition? Was there an autopsy? Would those who "saw her at the demonstration with their own eyes" know who she was? There were supposed to be a lot of people at the protest and the coffin was closed. Very confusing. Not very intriguing. You go to a protest, one that very well might become violent, expect to get hurt.
6. Shame on these officers
William ,   Israel   (01.05.11)
To state that the IDF rushed to come to different conclusions shows the lack of ability to grasp facts of these officers. The IDF did not make a conclusion but rather raised some facts about inconsistencies in stories and the medical documents. The only person who seems to state she was at the protest was one of its leaders, Jonathan Pollack. Out of 1000 people and tons of tear gas (as he puts it), why did no one else get hurt and how does he know so much about the protester? In actuality, the words he used showed his own uncertainty in the "facts" he was presenting. Did any of the officers see this protester? Can they claim she was there and not in the hospital prior with a blood poisoning ailment? Of course not. It's not only fair but also a legal obligation to raise questions of inaccuracies and demand answers to them. Perhaps these officers have their own agenda because they
7. some medical documents are published...
eporue ,   europe   (01.05.11)
on maannews... its the red crescent transport report and the medical report from the hospital. the medical report dates from january 2nd. the protest was on dec 31. the last entry is that she developed a "metabolic acidosis". i couldnt google anything like that ever caused by tear gas. the death certificate, what should be in the possession of the family, is not there.
8. #3 - I think you proved Phil's point
William ,   Israel   (01.05.11)
"nobody cares about truth...so what about Goldstone then" The Goldstone report was largely based on rumor and testimony by Hamas people. Not exactly an objective untertaking, was it? Goldstone admitted that his report contained ZERO facts which could be used in a court of law and prove his heinous claims. Then recently, Hamas admitted that 900+ killed in Cast Lead were terrorists and not civilians as Goldstone claimed in his report despite proof presented by the IDF. Did Goldstone change his report? Did the UNHRC call a press conference to update their stance? No. So, Phil's point remains valid.
9. To #2 and #3, no surprise UK appeases terrorists
Cynic ,   USA   (01.05.11)
10. I agree with Wm (#6)
nr ,   los angeles, usa   (01.05.11)
What are these officers, who are unnamed, of course, talking about? After years of lying about everything, should we believe, without a medical report or autopsy, anything the Arabs tell us? The only way to get to the truth is to raise doubt and make the other side come forward with everything or we end up with another Jenin massacre, another Gaza beach family murdered by the Israeli navy and a host of other nonsense.
11. The "pals" didn't invent lying, but made it into a fine art.
Bunnie Meyer ,   Los Angeles, CA USA   (01.05.11)
12. People who deny the truth, also deny the holocaust!
A truthful Jew ,   World   (01.05.11)
13. #12 Since it was suspicious
BEN JABO ,   ISRAEL   (01.05.11)
there should have been an autopsy to determine the cause of death and the truth Then there could be no denial by either side Methinks this is another Mohammed Al Durah incident, manufactured for the press, propaganda & consumption by the gullible public
14. Let's see some proof
BEN JABO ,   ISRAEL   (01.05.11)
that she was at the "demonstration" B'Tselem was there with the usual cameras, show us a scene with her in it
15. YOU AUTHOR MADE THE SAME WHAT YOU ACCUSED THE IDF OF...
.......DACON9   (01.05.11)
YOU ARE JUST AS FALSE;;; AND YOU WANT THE READERS TO BUY YOUR DOUBLE TALK...LOL This is a false claim, because the IDF refuses to face the simple fact that a demonstrator went to a protest and came back in a coffin'' WOW MS AUTHOR... YOU RELY ON A ARAB WITHOUT WAITING FOR A FULL REPORT? TSK TSK TSK ''
16. Gas killed her but likely weaken from a medical condition
Bloodyscot ,   Dallas, Texas   (01.05.11)
The tear gas seem to be the main cause of death per the doctor's report but she likely had an infection from some other cause that weakened her system. It could range from a tooth infection to something far more serious. The IDF and press tried to spin it too much and got burned but PA may not have been full forthcoming with all the facts either.
17. Despite the fishy story, People who play with fire get burnt
Mike ,   Oxford UK   (01.05.11)
There are lots of holes in the palestinian version which indicate that they are probably hiding something. The question is what?
18. why there were no questions like this..
Alex ,   UK   (01.05.11)
..when four Jews, two women among them, were shot and then executed by PA-based terrorists? A woman went hiking and knifed to death? These were unprovoked murders. Did PA investigate this? If not why not?
19. #12 Naqba deniers and Holocaust deniers....
Ben Alofs ,   Bangor   (01.05.11)
two sides of the same coin.
20. The officers criticizing the army officials are right
Ben Alofs ,   Bangor, UK   (01.05.11)
These army offcials made allegations, not based on fact. They did not want to give their sources too, but tried to sow doubt: that Jawaher was not even present at the demonstrationm that she had a pre existent condition like cancer or leukaemia and propably died as a result of this. All of this is complete speculation without any basis in fact provided by a quoted source. Some of the more crazy Zionist propagandists are putting out the falsehood, that Jawaher possibly died as a result of an 'honor killing'! There are now at least 4 eye witnesses who describe what happened to Jawaher during the demonstration, how she was overcome by tear gas, collapsed and vomited and frothed at the mouth and how they tried to drag her to clean air. Maan News published the ambulance sheet of the Palestine Red Crescent Paramedics, who picked Jawaher up and transported her to hospital, while giving her oxygen through a nasal canula en route. At that time she was still conscious with a normal Glasgow Coma Scale of 15. She had a fast pulse of 110 bpm, but her O2 saturation was still 97% while on oxygen. After arrival in the Palestine Medical Complex (see a copy of the medical report on Maan News) she became lethargic and her GCS dropped, as did her O2 saturation. It went down to 80%. It was decided then to admit her to the ICU, where she was intubated and put on a ventilator. In spite of intravenous medical therapy her blood pressure began to drop and she developed metabolic acidosis and finally suffered a cardiac arrest. She did not respond to a number of cycles of cardiopulmonary rescuscitation. The Israeli army officials said that she was sent home at first and came back to the hospital later. This simply is not true. These army officials now look rather foolish with all the evidence produced, which contradicts all their claims. It is more than likely that Jawaher's death is associated with her exposure to large amounts of tear gas. The fact is that Israeli soldiers in Bil'in use so much tear gas, and spread it over such a large area, that they violate an essential safety guideline: you only use enough gas to enable demonstrators to flee to an area with clean air. By creating a large area saturated with gas, there is a considerable risk that people may collapse, overcome by tear gas and will no longer be able to reach clean air, with catastrophic results. I have first hand experience as a health care professional with tear gas used in the Netherlands by the riot police and the Israeli army in Bil'in. The main difference is that the Israelis use large quantities of gas. They shoot it carelessly over a large area (using the weaponry that enables them to fire the extended range canisters). These soldiers forget that CS was developed by the US Army in 1928 as yet another candidate agent of chemical warfare (CS was used a lot in Vietnam). If you use too much of it in too high concentrations CS behaves as a lethal chemical agent.
21. Y - Net would love to blame the IDF !
Jaacov Baumann   (01.05.11)
''He who curses Israel will be cursed!'' Therefore - watch out you Y - Net makers !
22. #4: Also obvious that she can be dug back up
jerusalem   (01.05.11)
Give it some time. There is nothing "jointly investigating" with the israeli state. The only difference-and "advantage" I may add- that the israelis have is documented lies. This can be apparent with such incidents such as the Gaza War and the flotilla from Turkey. So whether or not you believe in the al-Durra effect as you hint to, you arent on a better boat. Rather than making my own assumptions about which side is trying to hide what as you do (which is a waste of time by the way), I wish you the best of luck with that (over there in D.C)- you cant manipulate everyone, nor was everyone moved.
23. Nos. 2 & 3
Madeleine ,   Israel   (01.05.11)
No surprise there that the two grossesst anti-israel remarks come from the two countries with the reputation of being the most anti-Israel. As for your criticism of Phil's "we are fighting a war", anyone who is Jewish and identifies with Israel, wherever in the world they live, will say "we" just as you, from your armchairs, will say "we are fighting a war in Afghanistan" even though you are thousands of miles away and in the case of Britain, has nothing to gain or lose by it.
24. #2 and #3, you look worried. Let me guess, you
leo ,   usa   (01.05.11)
do not like the idea? Phil @ 1, it would appear your idea has merit.
25. Where has the IDF concluded anything?
Danny   (01.05.11)
They heard a fishy story - a woman dying from tear gas in an open area. They investigated - as people are always pressing the IDF to do when Palestinians die - and departed from the script when they started questioning the Palestinian version and apparently some IDF officers think this is wrong?
26. In all Cases,
Salma ,   Palestine   (01.05.11)
you should stop using DEADLY tear gas.
27. Investigation
mustapha ,   tu   (01.05.11)
Goldstone should investigate this
28. #19 Ever heard of Pallywood, Ben?
Mark ,   Lodz, Poland   (01.05.11)
Ever seen "Pali corpses" falling off their stretcher on the way to be buried and climbing back on again? (Footage courtesy of IDF drones) Why should we take their word without an autopsy, Doctor the facts?
29. The reaction of the IDF is bringing shame on Israel
Ari   (01.05.11)
The IDF should be ashamed of itself. Trying to propagate ridiculous rumors rather than admitting a young woman was killed as a result of the soldiers' actions... this only helps destroy the standing of Israel in the USA and in Europe. This brings the IDF to the level of north Korea and Iran! It is a good thing that some brave IDF commanders still have the guts to ask the army to behave.
30. #20 "It is more than likely"
Cynthia ,   USA   (01.05.11)
This is your opinion based on hearsay. Further, your experience with tear gas in the Netherlands is irrelevant. If the Palestinians have nothing to hide, they can allow an independent autopsy and review of medical records prior to and at the time of death for this woman. Absent this information, we can assume this is yet another Pallywood performance.
