1. Israel don't fear!
Rinah   (01.07.11)
Don't rely on man or weapons. Now we can turn our hearts to El Eliyon! Then the world can merely watch in awe as He comes through for His people Israel! Baruch Hashem!
2. Just the start, 50% cut in foreign aid likely next
Bloodyscot ,   Dallas, Texas   (01.07.11)
US military companies will be looking for foreign buyers to keep profits up and stay in business. Saudi Arabia is buying $60B in US arms with Iraq likely to be next. The EU and Russia are likely to get on weapons sell in a few years, with China and India developing newer weapons at quickening rate. Israel will keep its military edge for another 7 to 10 years but questionable after that.
3. Listen, Israel
Chaim ,   Arad   (01.07.11)
As my late mother used to say, "Never count your jets until they are in the hangers." (Or was that eggs in a basket) Nevertheless, same thing; especially from the US.
4. Test flight
Quinn ,   USA   (01.07.11)
Israel should've requested the 2nd squadron of F35s in exchange for the initial 10 month settlement freeze granted by Bibi in direct contravention of Likud's platform; that would be the same 10 month freeze that was squandered by the Fakestinians where Israel recieved absolutely nothing in exchange for selling out it's voters. Supposedly, the F35 isn't comparable to the F22 anyway.
5. What Halel says
JUDAH THE LION   (01.07.11)
IN G D WE SHOULD TRUST , NOT IN HUMAN BEING. ISRAEL TRUST IN G D

7. Israel dont buy US aircrafts
Danny ,   Israel   (01.07.11)
Israel can built more better jets self cheaper than US and then will sells to Russia, Europe China who want Israel hi technology no how
8. Cease that squalling
Cameron ,   USA   (01.07.11)
Big Sugar Daddy always delivers fine toys for waiting kids. He knows full well (as do you) that Israeli security rests on Hashem & elite, goyim weaponry.
9. there is no logic to this decision
zionist forever   (01.07.11)
What is the point of freezing the F35 project? In the end that will cost the US money. The F35 is a multi national project with many countries committed to buying it as their next generation fighter jet. Already because of the spiralling cost from $60 to nearly $100 million a plane many countries decided to back out and are buying European planes as their next generation fighter. If the production line freezes so its going to take even longer to deliver the goods its only going to encourage other to buy something else which will cost the US in lost sales. Both China & Russia are developing their own G5 stealth jets. Even Japan is considering developing its own rather than buying made in America. This is more Obama idiocy either spending more than the country can afford on projects like healthcare or making cutbacks but cutting back on all the wrong projects. There are plenty of less essential systems that could be cut backs. A good saving would be to stop giving so much to palestinians. Since becoming president Obama supported by hoid Democrat controlled Congress became the US has dinated around $1 billion cash in hand.

11. Obama is the problem
Brod ,   USA   (01.07.11)
Incompetent Obama cuts the F-35 and F-22, while China is coming up with their own 'F-22.' It is time Israel produces its own 'F-22. ' Israel needs to produce its own super jet fighters. Iran is already working on their own jet fighters and missiles.
12. #2 I hope you are right
Israel Israeli ,   Tel Aviv   (01.07.11)
The US military aid is just the Americans way to buy influence and to corrupt Israel. The sooner it stops the better. Regarding the F-35, it is useless for Israel's needs and the decision to buy any was wrong. As for the $60 billion, I thought you were smarter than that. When the Saudis buy arms, they just raise the price of oil by an equivalent amount. Saudi arms purchases are a trick where poor Americans buy weapons for the Saudis from arms manufacturers.
13. Israel 20; Turkey 100; Who gets F-22s?
Paqid Yirmeyahu ,   Ra'anana, Israel   (01.07.11)
14. The era of US supremacy in fighter jets is over
Raymond in DC ,   Washington, USA   (01.07.11)
The US was once capable of producing a range of category leading aircraft that it could afford in numbers. No longer. It's closing down production of the F-22. And the only fighter for the next generation is behind schedule and so over budget even the US can't afford many of them. Meanwhile, Europe outdoes the US in areal tankers and transports, and has its own 4.5G fighters. Russia and China have F-22 class fighters coming on line. And Israel frets it won't have the planes it needs because they depend on the US' troubled production lines. It's time Israel started looking at different options.

zionist forever   (01.07.11)
Israel did accept Obamas offer of the freeze for jets, promise this would be the last freeze & it would not include Jerusalem. Even Shas backed the freeze. Only demand Israel made was for it ti have these promises in writing and when we did terms changed If we want the extra jets we pay for them. Jerusalem must be included If no progress on the palestinian front is made during that freeze the US wont rule our demanding another 6 months. Obama killed this freeze not Bibi The F22 production line is already due for the axe as soon as the US greatly reduced number are built. Congress stupidly I think because of its huge development cost refused to export it to anybody.
16. #9 Why do you need more planes???
Chris.B ,   Australia   (01.07.11)
Hasn't Israel been furnished with enough civilian killing toys to last it for it's lifetime. The banks dry. Give it a few months and you can order the Amero fighter comes with a free food stamp voucher which you can trade for American bonds.
17. Turkey to take over building F-35 soon in place of F-16s
Bloodyscot ,   Dallas, Texas   (01.07.11)
The F-35 needs better engines and a few mods to really compete but still equal or better than any thing on the market short of F-22 right now. China is still looking at 10 to 12yrs before mass production, since rushing it to market is too risky after passed problems. Russian Su-35 very good but maintaining could be a problem to keep them air ready fully time.
18. 13 & 14
zionist forever   (01.07.11)
Paqid The F22 is not being exported to anybody. Turkey is going to be building the F35 under licence. So the US is freezing production of the F35 for themselves and all the foreign customers who committed themselves to buying it. Turkey though is going to be building it themselves. We may even find ourselves in s situation where Turkey is operating F35 before even the US. Raymond. A conditions of military aid is Israel must buy the bulk of its weapon in the US. We are only allowed limited rights to shop around using our own money. So if we want the military aid we can't even buy our next generation of planes from elsewhere with our own money. Military aid really does benefit the US more than Israel. Europe make some planes which for israel are better than the F35 especially the SAAB Grippen. Except for the fact it has no stealth capabilities it is a much better multi role fighter. We could buy 3 Grippens for the price of 1 F35. its more agile, unlike the F35 it can carry Israeli made missiles so our own defense industry will not suffer while we buy US for the F35. Most important for Israel unlike the STOVOL version of the F35 designed for aircraft carriers ( which it is not buying ) it has short take of & landing capabilities. If Israel's runways were bombed its pilots would be capable of taking off landing on a public highway. With no strategic depth something like that would be ideal for Israel. We are buying American for the sake of military aid not because its the best jet for Israel's needs rather than US need.
19. They are going to save 4 Billion???
Steven Wilson ,   Anchorage, Alaska   (01.07.11)
They owe 126 Trillion dollars of on and off the book debt as it is. $1,135,000.00 dollars for each of the 110 million people paying taxes in the United States. Look at (www.usdebtclock.org) We have 64 million people on Social Security with another 80 million retiring in the next 14 years behind them. 144 million people on SSI with a population of possibly 330 million by then. Over half of the United States will be on old people's welfare. Another 70 million will be kids in school. The United States is bankrupt. Saving 4 Billion dollars won't change a thing. It's a joke being played out on us all.

JIM ,   CHICAGO   (01.07.11)
don't talk foolish. israel can't build better jets than the us. for that matter no one else can either.
21. Israel should start building our own planes
jason white ,   afula,israel   (01.07.11)
We should entice all our engineers living overseas to return. This should a national priority. Instead of leaving money sitting in the government bank accounts, we should spend heavily.Waiting for the U.S. is a waste of time. The dept of defense under gates is a joke and he and b.o. sabotaged the defense of the U.S. by closing down the F-22 production line. Israel should also check out a partnership with china or russia and use our own avionics and missiles for our planes.
22. #20 JIM jets technology in Israel big advanced
Danny ,   Israel   (01.08.11)
Israel is far ahead from US in all areas science technology. Israel scientists far superior anywhere else of world. US only gived Israel ''aid'' for to stealing Israeli improvements and corection of inferier US design jets. Thats why Russia ,Europe and China desparate all to learn secrets of superior Israeli knowledge and no how to builts the superior aircrafts and missile sistems
23. israel has other options
tom ,   toronto, canada   (01.08.11)
israel SHOULD have bought the f-22 NOT the f-35. it is a better airplane and "the real deal" for air superiority, rather than the less capable f-35. but the americans aren't exporting the f-22. or the f-35, it would seem. if the iaf insists on staying with american products (and a few billion dollars' worth of military aid is a pretty good incentive), then the enhanced, stealth version of the f-15 would fit in well with the existing iaf fleet, and extend its capabilities. it would also be available NOW. (and cost less.) the other possibility, since the u.s. is clearly not able or willing to supply israel's needs. is to look elsewhere. for example, the sukhoi pak-fa, being co-developed and co-produced by russia and india (who are currently quite friendly towards isarel), is a very good aircraft. it is considered to be comparable to the f-22 and superior to the f-35. equipped with israeli avionics (as the indian version will probably be), it could be a very effective system. and the option to co-produce it in israel would save money and provide high-tech jobs for israelis. its only downside is that it isn't eligible for american tied aid funding...
24. loose change?
tom ,   toronto, canada   (01.08.11)
the last number i hear was that the us deployments in iraq and afganistan were costing $2 billion a day. (either all the troops will be home in time for christmas, or the deployments aren't covered by the regular defence department budget.) there has to be more to this freeze than just saving a "mere" 4 billion.
