1. When an innocent is killed in cold blood...
Mikesailor ,   Miami, FL   (01.07.11)
If he is Palestinian, then expecting the IDF or any other Israeli entity to prosecute the killers is never going to happen. At the very least, manslaughter charges should be in order. At least in any country holding itself out as 'civilized'. If a plice officer, or any other agent of the government goes into the wrong apartment and shoots someone, any excuse only goes to the degree of culpability, not to the guilt of the criminal action itself. Where are the Jews demanding prosecution of these criminals? Or is it all right to kill the unarmes innocents with impunity becaise the victim was not Jewish?
2. Terrorists should not live among non-terrorists.
Bunnie Meyer ,   Los Angeles, CA USA   (01.07.11)
In fact terrorists should not be terrorists, their acts endanger their lives and the lives of the people they want to kill. It is sad that an innocent man was killed, but Israel did not target him as the terrorists targeted Jews.
3. #2According to your logic?? Isareli civilians should
Dave ,   Washington, DC   (01.07.11)
not live with Israeli Soldiers, so suicide bombers are legitimate because always they target soldiers who lives with “civilians”, right?. This is if we ignore the fact that the soldiers are occupiers and your "civilians” live on a stolen land while the innocent Palestinian lives in his town.
4. honestly
the truth   (01.07.11)
its probably one of those incidents where everyone freaks out about a person dying and then when the investigation is complete we find out he was trying to shoot someone
5. martyr by accident
observer   (01.07.11)
hadn't it been night, hadn't they looked their door, hadn't the wife been not praying, hadn't he been not asleep, he wouldn't have been martyr. will Israel block the construction of monumental grave stone at his burial site.
6. PA should not have released killers and
Barney ,   USA   (01.07.11)
where is the outcry when terrorists shoot Jews in cold blood? Terrible that it happened but that is going to happen in a terror war fought amongst the civilian population which the terrorists are great at.
7. Looks like Tuesday's tear gas story didn't stick
GZLives   (01.07.11)
Fatah and Hamas reconcile? Maybe when pigs can fly.
8. Pathetic
Eitan ,   Miami   (01.07.11)
This killing is pathetic. The IDF unit responsible, Duvdevan operating in such an undisciplined and unprofessional way needs to be dissolved and restructured. Worse, this incident similar to many other incidents is an example of the lack of precision with which many IDF Units. Lest someone claim I'm an anti-Israel leftists, I'm a reserve duty Sergeant, that fought, bled, and lost friends in both the Lebanon War and 3 years of service during the Intifada. I can personally attest to countless examples of units making "mistakes" in the heat of missions that cost lives and degrade the military's security mission. For those who don't see the disconnect...These mistakes are what leads to hostility of the Palestinians far more than the existence of Tel Aviv which remains far away behind a maze of checkpoints and arseem playing with guns. -Eitan
9. #1 Mikesailor, Miami
Marvyn ,   UK   (01.07.11)
Mr Mikesailor, how many civilians did US forces kill in Vietnam? How many civilians did US forces kill in Iraq? How many civilians did US forces kill in Afghanistan? Has any successive American governments demanded prosecution of these criminals? 1 muslim person gets killed and you write about prosecution. Its ok for American forces to kill millions of civilians is it? Look at your own forces before criticising others!
10. The Israeli army investigating the Israeli army
Ben Alofs ,   Bangor, UK   (01.07.11)
"Central Command Chief Major-General Avi Mizrahi had ordered Brigadier-General Nitzan Alon, commander of the Judea and Samaria Division, to launch a swift investigation into the incident." This is the same Alon, that declared earlier in the day; "You must see it from the perspective of the force, which arrived to arrest terror activists, after a quick standing operation procedure..." The same Alon who has already concluded that Jawaher Abu Rahma did not die as a consequence of tear gas inhalation, but that "her death was caused by the method of the medical treatment and other medical aspects", who in spite of 4 witness statements that place Jawaher at the demonstration and described how she was overcome by tear gas, maintains that: "We now understand that she herself was not at the protest, but in a more distant place, where remains of the tear gas may have reached her. But this was not the cause of her death. She died from other illnesses and medical care." This same Alon will surely come up with an explanation for the statement of Israeli soldiers saying that Mr Qawasmeh was not in his bed and made a threatening movement and the FACT (shown on the photographs) that completely contradicts that statement, namely that both the headboard and the matress of Mr Qawasmeh's bed are drenched in blood. I don't think that the soldiers of "the most moral army in the world" need to worry. Their superior will get the killers off the hook.
11. Sleeping in Bed
Mark ben Josuf ,   USA   (01.07.11)
13-14 bullets while sleeping because they "thought" he was attacking them - On its face has zero credibility. This does not appear to be an arrest raid. Rather it appears as an assassination where the wrong guy got assassinated. The IDF cannot put together even a simple credible lie. Now the IDF will review its after-action reports and congratulate itself for killing somebody even when they had announced their intent to arrest, because he slept in a suspicious manner. The IDF should put our one of those Army-like videos, like the US had in WWI that demonstrates how not to sleep suspiciously.
12. Yea sure, #1, tell us when the Pallies prosecuted just one!
Al Levy ,   Toronto   (01.07.11)
Gee, Mike the Sailor - by your standards it certainly looks like you are telling us that the Palestinians are totally uncivilized. I've been saying the exact same thing for years. Unless, of course, you can give us one single example of when the Pallies prosecuted one of their own for murdering Jews. Just one example will do. A single example out of the hundreds and hundreds of terrorist attacks by Palestinians against Israeli targets since the PA came to power. Just one, Mike. I'll bet you you can't even name just one. Why? Cuz the Pallies are exactly what you say - they kill with impunity because the victims are Jewish, or at least were standing near Jews, or they thought they were Jews. Come on, Mike. Give us one example.
13. #9 totally right. Total hypocracy for Americans to criticize
Cynic ,   USA   (01.07.11)
14. #1 - the Hamas terrorists released killed in cold blood
William ,   Israel   (01.07.11)
but that doesn't seem to bother you. They were only Jews "who deserved it", right?
15. #3 - except that terrorists never go after the soldiers
William ,   Israel   (01.07.11)
they go after the civilians, every time. How many soldiers were on blown up buses and pizza cafes when hit by Arab terrorists? None. How many soldiers were in the car when Hamas terrorists shot 4 people at point blank range, one of them pregnant? None. How many soldiers were at the kindergarten so often targeted in Sderot by Hamas war criminals? Again, none. So your attempt at logic is nothing short of farcical. We all know the intent and target of Arab terrorists....that's why they're called "terrorists", dummy.
16. Opinion.
Jules   (01.08.11)
As long as PLO and HAMAS maintain in their charters the destruction of Israel as their goal, here is a war going on. Accidents did, do and will happen. From the day when both PLO and HAMAS renounce their "resistance", IDF can be held responsible for such unfortunate actions. Otherwise: PLO and HAMAS are at fault. Full stop.
17. Investigating themselves
Ben Alofs ,   Bangor, UK   (01.08.11)
Egypt investigates itself for blowing up 30 Christians in an Alexandria Church and then puts the blame on Zionists. This is what happens each and every time Arabs investigate their own crimes. I know this because I served treating victims of Arab aggression in Darfur, Syria, Yemen, London, Madrid, New York Port Authority World Towers and Logarbaidh.
18. The Entire House Should Have Been Wasted
Noah Lev ,   USAHollywood   (01.08.11)
This is war, and in wars, people get killed, often times innocents. Its called collateral damage guys. But Israel does NOT target innocents..Hamas/Hez/Fatah/Islamic JIhad do, and give it priority. None of those 4200 plus Kassams fired by Hamas were intended to kill soldiers, all civilians. When Hez sent thousands of rockets into Northern Israel, they aimed for everyone. Over 1,000 Israeli were killed after talks browk down...mainly civilians in pizza shops, Passover Sedars, etc. I dont feel sorry for this 65yr old, why should I? His proximity to a know terrorist brought it on himself. The NYTimes says< Innocent 65 year old killed, and in his own bedroom. And in his own bedroom. Oh me oy my, as if the US hasn't killed tens of thosuands in Iraq, Afghanistan and Pakistan. People who live in glass houses, as they say. We murdered 200,000 at Hiroshima and that other Japanese city, not to forget Dresden.
19. #3, and if the suicide bombers targetted soldiers
Danny   (01.08.11)
and accidentally killed civilians it would be collateral damage. Wierdly, the percentage of soldiers to civilians killed by the palestinians is 1:2 or the opposite of the IDF
20. Mikesailor #1
Gee ,   Zikron Yaakov   (01.08.11)
So when is the US going to prosecute their own border patrol agents for MURDERING poor Mexicans that just throw rocks?
21. Uplay u pay
Jeff ,   USA   (01.08.11)
While part of me does feel bad for the fallen man and his wife reality sets in fast. That is this known wanted terrorist was harbored in this mans house. In the US as most the free world, that in itself constitutes a major crime.Im sorry, but dont let known criminals hide in your house things like this wouldn't happen.THAT and Abbas dont release the for pulling a hunger strike. What exactly was that?(The real cause.)
22. why???
alan ,   texas   (01.08.11)
why do you even print this rubbish? According to the arabs, all arab terrorists are just innocent civilians. Of course, no Israeli is innocent, even a toddler, according to arab logic. So why print this garbage in the israeli media?
23. should not have harbored a murdering criminal
ralph   (01.08.11)
24. #14 WILLIAM
Sean ,   Montreal, Quebec   (01.08.11)
Reading your post, begs the question: Does it bother you that an innocent man died?
25. Cold blood CRAP
Brod ,   USA   (01.08.11)
Islamist-Jihadists murder non-Muslims in cold blood all the time. From Southern Philippines, Southern Thailand, India, Iraq, Egypt, Pakistan, Sudan, Nigeria, Indonesia, Afghanistan, Beslan, Moscow, London, Spain, 9/11, Fort Hood, etc, Islamist-Jihadists leave a river of blood of non-Muslims that they slaughter in Cold Blood daily since their heinous crimes against humanity on 9/11. The fact is the less Islamist-Jihadists, the better the world will be.
26. #24 sean
Jrodstein ,   Basalt, Colorado   (01.08.11)
